Why is Jeanne Dielman considered such an important film?

I just finished watching Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles. Can anyone explain the cultural significance of this movie? I’ve genuinely never seen anything like it.

I didn’t really find it entertaining or even especially thought-provoking while watching, but it felt important in a way I can’t fully articulate. Was the impact more about the filmmaking style and what it represented at the time?

Site down - anyone know what happened?

I want to know the story behind this. Did the site get hacked or did they fire the employee who had control of the domain? Someone on Reddit needs to tell us.

Cinemark MOTU (2026) Merch Launch

Here is what Cinemark had upon our arrival in the afternoon. They do the “bagged or open” where you can take the item up and then get a to go version or a “fill me up” version. No discount for members on merch.

Does Cinemark actually enforce the phone policy, or does my theater just SUCK?

As stated. I've made a number of complaints of people using their phones in theaters during movies, just for the staff to start a back and forth between me and the person on the phone, giving them a defense as to why they are on it. Why is this even a thing?? Shouldn't they just tell the person on the phone to put it away or am I not understanding the no phone usage signs in the lobby, and the videos before the movie saying to put your phone away wrong? The theater I am complaining about has reviews of the theater where people are taking pics and videos DURING THE MOVIE!

Am I insane or is this just BS?

Super tickets

So I got the super ticket for the Mandalorian and Grogu, and I was wondering if anyone knew how it works. Do we just scan our ticket again at the snack bar for the cup, popcorn and pin? First time doing one of these tickets.

Is Cinemark a Liemax?

Our theater just installed an imax room. Having another imax in my area (which I also think is a liemax compared to one I saw out of state) I’ve always preferred XD. I had XD tickets for Mando on Saturday but with the imax going and adding showtimes I got one of those too for comparison this weekend.

If the movie is garbage I’ll skip my Saturday XD but after complete Star Wars burnout and avoidance for years, I really enjoyed Maul and it allowed me to finally sit with Mando season 3 this week and I’m enjoying it a bunch.

I just saw another post asking for an XD recommendation for the same movie and it was a unanimous XD. I do think XD has a clearer and brighter screen, but that one true imax I saw was huge and giant and loud. I enjoyed that too.

For those with a newly installed Cinemark imax, what can you say about it?

Format options for Mandalorian. What are you guys leaning towards?

I've only seen 1 movie in XD 3D (Mario Galaxy) and I thought it looked awesome, so I'm leaning towards that one. I've also never seen a movie in IMAX 3D...What are yalls thoughts?

What are The Devil Wears Prada 2 DBox seats like?

I thought DBox was for action/superhero/horror movies. What could they possibly do for the TDWP2?

Trying to find a Hollywood teen romance/drama movie from the 2000s or early 2010s.

Trying to find a Hollywood teen romance/drama movie from the 2000s or early 2010s. The male lead looked similar to Logan Lerman and had short bowl-cut/shaggy hair.

Scenes I remember:

the girl is reluctant to go out with him at first

he steals her jacket and says something like “you’ll have to come after me because you need this”

later she sees him reading a book to his mom in a hospital and changes her mind about him

It had an indie/coming-of-age vibe.

New Cinemark Merch

On my ongoing quest for Cinemark Merch, I noticed today they updated the shop with new merch. 2 National Coke Day shirts, 1 Popcorn crop top (that says Cinemark), 1 Cinemark hoodie, a tumbler, and a sherpa blanket. Sadly, they only offer the hoodie in red so I'll have to pass but in case if anyone was interested - go check it out.

I watched Top Gun & Top Gun Maverick in ScreenX

And let's just say it made it so much better.

There's two Cinemark Movie Theaters near me and the one I don't frequent the most finally opened their ScreenX.

10 out of 10, I recommend.

talking during movie

Does anyone else have problems with people talking/making unnecessary comments throughout the whole movie? it feels like every show in my hometown there’s someone who just can’t be quiet next to us. The staff isn’t much help either, they just stand at the bottom by the stairway for a few minutes then leave. Manager today told disruptive people that me and my partner were complaining and they acted clueless and played victim. Getting to the point where i’m thinking of canceling my membership… does anyone else feel like this?

Complaining about customers (employee)

Broski some of you customers are insane, sticking half chewed candy between the seats, and closing your trash in the recliner legs, holy shit, there is a difference between leaving your trash neatly together and leaving a mess, I know it's my job to take your trash, but God damn you don't gotta make my job so much fucking harder

Thank you for listening to my grievances have a good day😁

Edit: I still love my job, I work with great people, and am lucky to have good management, but Im still allowed to have grievances about certain aspects

Redeeming Rewards

Do you have to redeem the reward on the app AND THEN buy the ticket? Or what if I already bought a ticket and then saw the reward? Unsure how these promotions work.

Extendable foot rest?

So after all these years, I actually read the fine print in the app for what a luxury lounge is and it says extendable foot rest. What do you mean extendable foot rest!?! I never knew the foot rest can extend out more and if so, how do we do it!?!
