Donations for USU fire victims.

While no lives were lost in the fire there were many cars that were destroyed that belonged to people who where out on hitch for UCC. In those vehicles were ALL the belongings of these people while they lived out of the cars while on hitch. They lost everything. Donations are needed. A gofundme is in the works. Anything helps!

Help support the victim that was recently involved in a boating accident which resulted in a double amputation.

If you haven't heard yet. A mother of 3 was recently involved in a terrible boating accident and was lifeflighted from bear lake and had to get a double amputation. If you're able and willing to donate to support her and her family, you could do so here:

The victim and her family will be in my prayers 🙏

Bear Lake Accident yesterday

We were at Bear lake yesterday and someone got life lifted at the east beach. Does anyone know anything about this? We heard something like it was a bilateral amputation. We are wondering if the family is okay and if they might have a go fund me or something where we can contribute to?

EV Charging in Bear Lake area

I am supposed to be going to bear lake the end of July, but are there reliable EV supercharging around there? Not in Logan I mean in actual bear lake?

R/bearlake moderation update! | June 2026 + additional updates

I'm happy to announce that r/bearlake is now officially set up and complete! The past couple weeks, i've implemented some new features to the subreddit and expanded upon the subreddit rules. My intention is to future proof the subreddit by looking ahead and seeing what this subreddit needs to be successful. Additionally, I've added some quality of life changes and spent a lot of time making sure this subreddit is aesthetically pleasing to look at and I believe I've achieved that!

Here is the change log:

-1 modified and added new rules.

The intention of these new rules is to future proof and look ahead to see what potential problems could show up, while making sure that the subreddit isn't too authoritarian. These new rules primarily focus on protecting individuals especially children. I've also added new rules regarding self-promotion and misinformation.

-2 custom post flairs.

I took inspiration on how r/reddeadredemption2 does their post flairs and implemented my own version here on r/bearlake. These custom flairs make the subreddit more unique compared to other communities while adding additional aesthetics.

-3 added automated weather bot

I added an automated weather bot to lost daily weather updates for Bear Lake. Originally, I wanted to post daily. However, I felt like it was too spammy so moving forward, weather posts will be made every Friday morning.

That is everything I added. That being said said even though I said that the subreddit is complete. It doesn't mean that there won't be changes in the future. I'm sure there will be changes especially to the rules. But I do believe we have an amazing first start to this community. As we enter into Bear Lake's busiest season, I ask for your continued engagement to this subreddit. Please continue posting content, engaging with others and when allowed share content from the subreddit via crosspost to other communities. Once again, thank you for all of your support! This is only the beginning for r/bearlake

North Beach parking permit price hike

I went to book a parking permit and saw that the "transaction fee" is now more than the permit itself - totaling $31 to park! Last year was $6. Was probably non-existent a few years before that.

But does anyone know if you can just pay when you show up? And if so, is the "transaction fee" still applied?

Bear Lake in May of 2026

Me and some of the exchange students went to Paris Idaho to try out my uncle's gelato. While we were there, one of the exchanges mentioned that she hasn't been to Bear Lake so I took them to one of the overlooks.

Poor experience with housing & roommates?

I’m an incoming freshman to ISU. I’ve had to reroll my roommate for a double-room twice now. They haven’t responded back to my get to know you email. Anyone else had this issue? I don’t have any personal buddies going to ISU so I have to room with someone random.

Any advice? I looked around online and this is the only place I saw that is a remotely active community.
