Commute from Logan to SLC

If I had a good job opportunity where I have to commute to SLC 3-4 days a week and received a car stipend, how miserable would that be I just moved out to Utah in past month, so I’m not too familiar with how that commute is? Also would I want to consider a new car for the winter I have a small sedan not built for lots of snow?

Emergency Options in Logan

Hello everyone! I’ve been going through a bit of a difficult time lately, and I’m hoping to get some insight. I know the warming center doesn’t open until November, but I was wondering if anyone has had experience working with CAPSA or La Luz Foundation.
I’m feeling pretty anxious about working with an organization right now, so hearing about anyone’s experiences, good or bad, would be really helpful and appreciated.
TIA! ❤️

Do the other cities have any plans in the works for their growth?

We all feel the impact of "logan growing" but it's more so the metro area and not Logan proper that's seeing most of the growth. Do the other cities have any plans to not rely on Logan so much as the hub of cache valley?

Better gym in Smithfield

I'm here for like a month or two, looking at gyms in Smithfield. I see The garage or goals. And preference?

Fresh Salmon

Is there somewhere in the valley that does fresh salmon? We used to get it from maceys but they've stopped doing it. I called Lee's and Smiths and they get it a couple days old. I'm hoping there's somewhere that gets it a little sooner than that

Just moved here best and worst restaurants?

I'll go first since I've only eaten at a couple of places really.

Best is Texas Roadhouse, worst is McDonald's at 800 and Main.

Come Make Some New Friends at Hobbled Dog Cidery!! :)

Hi everyone! I’m hosting another Speed-Friending night at Hobbled Dog Cidery on August 27, for ages 21+!

If you’ve never been to one of our Speed-Friending events before, here’s basically how it works:

  • You’ll be placed into a small group when you arrive.
  • We’ll have conversation prompts/questions at the tables to help break the ice.
  • Each round gives you enough time to actually talk and get to know the people in your group without feeling rushed or stuck in one conversation all night.
  • After each round, groups rotate so you’re meeting new people throughout the night.
  • You don’t have to come with a friend, a lot of people come by themselves!
  • At the end of the night, you can choose who you’d like to connect with again.
  • If you both choose each other, I’ll send you each other’s contact information after the event.

It’s really just a structured way to meet new people without having to walk into a bar and somehow figure out how to introduce yourself to strangers.

If you’ve been wanting to expand your friend group, are newer to Cache Valley, or just want to meet some different people, you’re absolutely welcome.

1600 E needs more crosswalks

Anyone else have a hard time crossing that street sometimes? It’s supposed to be 25mph but seems like people go way too fast and don’t yield to pedestrians much.

Beginner gardener in Logan. Looking for advice

Hi everyone I’m looking in getting into gardening, mostly starting with herbs like mint, cilantro, basil, etc.

I have a small space/backyard, so I’m wondering if anyone has advice for gardening when you don’t have a lot of room.

I’m also curious about growing things through the winter in Logan. Is that realistic for herbs or other plants? I’ve seen some houses in the neighborhood with what looks like a small plastic tent/structure over their plants, but I’m not sure what it’s called or whether that’s something people use for winter gardening.

If anyone in Logan gardens during the winter, I’d love to hear what you grow and what setup you use. Also, if you have any good YouTube channels, blogs, websites, or other beginner resources, I’d really appreciate the recommendations!

Thanks!

ISO a truck for moving?

Update: all good, folks, a buddy of mine was able to call me up last night in order to help. Thanks to everyone leaving comments & the help!

Hi, fellow Loganites,

My husband and I are moving within Logan by Thurs the 20th this week to our new apartment, but the few folks we know don't have the scheduling nor the vehicle to help us out.

We need a guy/gal with a truck, we have some large furniture (love-seat, Queen bed, a dresser) but its mostly boxes.

We need the help but we're strapped for a few weeks, I already feel terrible for asking! Serious inquiries only

Robbery

Someone just kicked me and my Nextdoor neighbors doors in at 11:30 pm. I’m at a loss for words truly. Coming from a big city in another state I really admired how safe I felt in Logan. Safe to say I am petrified right now!
EDIT: ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

Missing food

The Last 5 times me and my girlfriend have ordered takeout or delivery we have been missing a significant amount of our food, (macdonald’s 3 times in a row, buffalo wild wings and del taco) im curious if this is a common thing for anyone else? And if so please let me know what establishments to avoid. I’m usually very kind and understanding towards food service workers but at this point i am genuinely bewildered by the lack of competence

Anything I should know as a St. George emigrant?

basically the title. i'm moving here in about a week to go to school, got any "words of wisdom" or things i should know beforehand?

i'm hoping to make new friends, and i figure a college campus is probably the best place to do it. my social circle preference is closer to a few really tight-knit and deep relationships over 100 surface level friends. do you think i'll be able to find that here?

thanks :)

Hello I was wondering if anybody knew if fire restrictions were lighter this weekend due to the downpour over the past few days? Specifically in fire rings up Logan canyon
