reviews list ?
Hello everyone! I would like to know if there is a way to highlight our opinions on our profile? Or another way to be able to see all our reviews for movies/series on a page?

I’ve just added this feature where you can say whether a movie was watched in the theaters. This is on a per-watch basis; you can watch a movie 3 times at home and twice in the theaters for example; all of that is tracked.
And of course I added a statistic for it! (Disregard my solo trip to the movies in this screenshot, this is all test data 😅… In fact, I haven’t watched The Odyssey yet 😭)
Now if only Apple would decide to stop ignoring me and approve the previous update that’s been waiting for a week so I can upload this one, that’d be great….
This time has been probably the worst wait time yet… since last Friday morning that I uploaded Version 3.2 and it hasn’t been reviewed yet.
Actors voting, GIFs, and so many improvements, all waiting for almost a week now. It’s especially frustrating, bc of the speed at which I like to ship features is just not compatible with Apple’s laid back approach.
This whole week has made me reflect on the future of Cinephile as a mobile-only app, and I’m more and more convinced that I should launch a full web version as well so I crank up updates whenever the fuck I want…
At any rate, in the meantime I wanted to bring to your attention a new Instagram page for the app that I’d like to invite you to:

And lastly, I also started to become active on Threads; opened an account a while back but never really used it. I intend to be more active now, so if you’d like to, give me a follow and I’ll follow back ;)

mario_luis_dev, sorry if this is a silly question, but what's the difference between adding a movie to the 'wishlist' versus 'up next'?
Hi Mario! First off, I wanted to tell you that the app is awesome, and I’m really enjoying exploring it. Great job on everything you’ve accomplished so far!
I was thinking that maybe the “Search” page could be renamed the “Explore” page and have more sections added to it. So I had some fun quickly putting together a mockup in Figma.
That’s a lot, but I had a lot of fun. Joking aside, here’s my idea for “improving” the search page so that it’s more personalized and reflects who we are based on what we’ve watched and our main platforms.
You can take a look at the mockup here
And thanks again, Mario, for the amazing app you designed!
I’m a potential new user. I setup the app and love the setup. I sync with Trakt , and all seemed to sync fine except it had a lot of shows I needed to click that I finished, that were previously marked as finished.
I took the time to mark 25+ shows as watched and then an hour later it shows in the app again as if I never did this. I am 100% up for becoming a paid user but I like to make sure an app works well prior to paying.
This has now happened three times even though I have marked the shows as watched. Not sure what’s going on.
iPhone 17 Pro
I was on the latest iOS 26 but thought if it wasn’t working it was safe to upgrade to the iOS 27 beta. Still same thing.
Any advice?
Steps taken so far:
- deleted and reinstalled the app
- disconnected and reconnected the Trakt connection
- marked entire seasons as watched and other times marked the shows individually.
Not sure what’s else to try.
I have attempted to adjust the air date for several television programs, but the change does not appear to take effect.
Apple should be approving Version 3.1.2 in no time; meanwhile Version 3.2 is ready and it's PACKED!!
- Favorite characters per movie/show/episode ✅
- Community reviews appearing in details screens ✅
- Profile sharing cards and links ✅
Up next: GIFs!!
Cheers,
Mario

All about import options on this one:
- Letterboxd
- Sofa Time
- Tv Time’s official GDPR data WITH COMMENTS!!
Other nice quality of life improvements:
- You can now hide the episode’s thumbnail until watched.
- In the social feeds, when you translate someone else’s post or comment, if you reply your message will be auto-translated to the OP’s language. (I’m really proud of this one!)
- You can now easily search for other fellow cinephiles, either by handle or name.
- Favorite movies / shows showcased in your profile are no longer ranked by default. That decision is up to you whether to rank them or just showcase them in no particular order.
Cheers,
Mario
Apologies in advance if it’s a stupid question.
The timeline and “Releasing” screens now properly show tv shows premiering and also digital release dates for movies.
The favorites section of your profile has also been upgraded so that you can pick your top 10 out of all favorites to showcase in the front page.
I’ve added the translation button everywhere in the community section, not just in posts + comments but also reviews.
There’s a lot more coming up over the next updates, as I continue to improve and add highly features such as favorite character voting, community reviews showing up in movies/shows details screens, and much more. Stay tuned!
Cheers,
Mario

Yes, you read that right! The upcoming update adds support for the official GDPR data import, and will bring in even your comments into Cinephile!! More details on the update coming soon; I should be uploading either tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest 🍿
Working on a little something here. You'll be able to share your profiles straight from the app. The links generated are of the form https://www.cinephile.dev/@<your\_handle> (in my case for example, https://www.cinephile.dev/@cinephile_official ). Of course, once you get the sharing functionality from the app you won't need to type this manually; I'm just sharing this now because you can actually try it, this is live on the landing site ;)
Hey all,
I'm working on this feature now, but since I never used TV Time myself I need to understand the user's expectation for this feature better before fully implementing it.
Other than-picking your favorite character in a movie/episode in the summary prompt that pops up when marking as watched, and seeing the percentage distribution across all users, what else do you expect from this feature? Do you also expect to see this percentage distribution every time you visit this movie's/episode's details screen in the cast & crew section? Do you expect this to pop up somehow in social feeds?
I need your help on this one, because it's something I've never used myself, so I want to get this right for those of you who have been requesting this.
Cheers,
Mario
Would it make sense to have a currently watching for films (mostly OTT streamed ones) - there are times when I am midway in a movie, unable to complete and eventually complete it in multiple sittings. It would be nice to have a record of midway watched movies. if others also think it makes sense...
I built Flash, an Android app that identifies movies and TV shows the way Shazam identifies songs.
How it works: you hear a movie clip — in a reel, at a café, anywhere — open Flash and let it listen for ~10–20 seconds or use background listening from notification tray. It comes back with the title, year, where to stream it, ratings, and a plot summary. If you only remember a line of dialogue, you can type that instead and it'll find the movie.
What I'm looking for: ~50 beta testers to hammer on real-world accuracy. Which clips does it nail, which does it miss? There's a 1-minute feedback form in the app.
Distributed via Firebase App Distribution — you get an email invite, install from the link (it's not on the Play Store yet, so Play Protect may ask you to confirm the install)
Needs mic permission — it listens through the microphone, so clips have to play out loud (headphones won't work)
No ads, no payment info, delete your account + data anytime from inside the app

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve noticed that whenever I share a rating card or review card, the generated image quality seems pretty low. It often looks blurry or compressed, which takes away from an otherwise great experience.
Is this something that could be improved in a future update? I’d love to see higher-quality images for sharing.
Hi Mario, I’m using Cinephile 3.1.1.
I’m migrating a Letterboxd watched list and mapped the films to valid IMDb and TMDB IDs. An IMDb-style watchlist.csv imports correctly into “For Later,” but every ratings.csv attempt reaches “Resolving movie batch” and then says it was cancelled before finishing.
I tested:
All fail at the same point. Does version 3.1.1 require an exact IMDb-exported file or particular mandatory columns, or is this a known importer bug?
