My first ever Citizen and I am in love with this!

Back story im a Mido and Seiko fanboy, have a few pieces of each brand that I kept in my rotation and sold a ton. And for some reason this watch I kept on coming back to watch on youtube and just yesterday I pulled the trigger and bought it. I love the weight and and the build of this piece.

Full circle. Went from solar lover, to automatic elitist, and back to Promaster fanboy, from a chance encounter

My wife has been a fan of citizen watches for a while and we happened to walk into a citizen outlet today, looking for her. Happened to spy this promaster tough, and couldn’t help but try it on. Loved it instantly. As a military guy, it just checked so many boxes, and was titanium. When the salesman told me it was 50% the hook was set, and I had no choice. This watch is absolutely perfect for what I want. I was about a week away from picking up a Longines spirit pilot and I’m so glad I hadn’t already pulled the trigger on it.

Alright I get it now.

But I might need help with some clarification. I’ve been looking for a Promaster tough for some time now. I happened to look at Macy’s one day and they had this Promaster Land, but it looks just like a tough. I wonder if Macy’s got it wrong. Either way I’m coming down this rabbit hole. That magnifying sapphire crystal is so cool.

NATO on a fugu

Got the fugu awhile back, can’t make up my mind if it’s too big. Love the watch though, put a nato for a more comfortable strap

Anyone with this model have a first hand review? In love with the dial but I’ve never had a dive watch, nor a poly band?

Just looking for pros and cons as a semi daily vs a bracelet .

Need to find this Zenshin model in store.

Anyone have a store that they know has this Zenshin 60 model in store? It would even help if they don’t have the colorway just the same watch. I went to like 5 stores and they only had the eco drive zenshin. Let me know if you have any leads!

Promaster Land U822 time zone feature question

Hey, for anyone that owns this watch, can you tell me if on this screen, you can have a 2nd and 3rd time zones? Or does one zone have to match the hands, I work with offices in several and it would be amazing to have 3 zones at once

[Citizen] 1952 Triple Calendar Ref. 1505 — much prettier in person than I expected

I recently picked up this early Citizen Triple Calendar and was honestly surprised by how beautiful it is in person.

This is the Ref. 1505 from 1952, generally regarded as Japan’s first triple-calendar wristwatch. At only around 33mm, Citizen managed to fit the day, month and pointer date into what is still a very elegant little dress watch.

What really got me, though, is the dial. The aged ivory surface, gold applied numerals, blue date track, framed calendar windows and that tiny seconds subdial somehow all work together without feeling overly busy. There’s a lot going on, but it still looks remarkably balanced.

It’s also a nice reminder that Citizen was already experimenting with fairly complicated mechanical watches in the early 1950s, long before the Japanese watch industry became the force we normally associate with the 1960s and 70s.

Definitely one of those watches that I bought because I found it historically interesting, but ended up liking much more simply because of how it looks.

Nur noch die….

Seit dem meine CITIZEN Promaster am Handgelenk ist, wird sie nicht mehr abgenommen. Meine anderen gammeln in der Vitrine. Ich befürchte, das wird sich nicht mehr ändern. 🤣

Why did you choose eco drive over other watches / brands

Curious what you like most about solar watches. I know some points are obvious but for me I just simply think it’s cool light can power your watch!

An appreciation post copied from my TikTok: the Promaster Tough

A follow-up of my previous post, now after having adjusted the bracelet. The process was deceptively easy. So here goes :

I always wanted a Citizen Skyhawk as THE watch for me. It looks cool and has an impossibly busy dial. But since I am now on the wrong side of 40, my tastes appear to have changed.

For instance, I disliked sousou (christophine) for as long as I can remember, and suddenly it has become one of the more alluring vegetables out there. Can’t beat that as a sign of ageing.

Anyhoo, back to the watch.

This is my Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches -completion/congratulations-on-being-an-old-geezer gift. Thanks to the wife. And a rather perfect one, actually.

First, this thing will most certainly outlast me, as its name suggests. Second, it is made of Citizen’s proprietary Super Titanium, which means it is light enough for squeaky joints and wasting muscles. As a geriatric, this is much appreciated.

Thing is, it was surprisingly hard to purchase. It seems to be sold mainly in the UK, and contacts had to be conjured into existence to make the whole thing happen. It came in a rather nice 50th-anniversary box (I myself am closing in on that age at an alarming rate) and Citizen’s legendary Eco-Drive movement should keep it ticking for a very long time without me having to think much about batteries.

It also has no conventional caseback and is essentially made from a single block of metal, helping it achieve 300 m of water resistance.

I barely get into 30 cm of water, so that is reassuring.

The hour markers and hands are also wonderfully large and legible, which is excellent because age, I have discovered, is not particularly forgiving towards eyesight either.

So yeah. A great oldie watch for an increasingly oldie owner.

And, as a bonus, this particular Promaster Tough has a rather interesting association with Ray Mears. For the curious, just type Citizen Ray Mears into El Googlo and there’s some nice stuff to read.

Now excuse me while I admire my titanium watch and contemplate having some sousou.

I think I finally found my perfect everyday watch: Citizen Promaster Fujitsubo NB6021

My first automatic watch was a Tissot Seastar 80. I basically bought it because I thought owning an automatic watch would be cool, and it was one of the first reasonably affordable Swiss automatics I found at a local watch dealer.
Once I started getting more interested in watches, though, I realized that the design and especially the wearing comfort weren’t really what I was looking for. I still liked the watch, but I just didn’t wear it that often.
Funny enough, the watch I ended up wearing the most was a Casio Duro that I had imported from the US specifically because I wanted the version with the marlin on the dial. It was cheap, comfortable, flat and just worked for everything. The only thing that always bothered me was that it wasn’t automatic.
For work I have other watches anyway, usually my Hamilton Murph or my Studio Underd0g. What I was still missing was an automatic “beater”: something for everyday life, holidays, sports, swimming, cycling and basically anything where I don’t want to think about the watch on my wrist.
I spent probably six months looking at different options before ending up with the Citizen Promaster Fujitsubo NB6021.
The titanium case was one of the main reasons. It’s incredibly light, and I paired it with a stretchy elastic strap. My wrist size changes quite a lot throughout the day, especially when it’s warm, so this combination is perfect for me. The strap has a little bit of give and can also be adjusted in seconds.
I just finished my first holiday with it and basically did everything while wearing it. Fishing, swimming, cycling, weight Lifting, Fitness, getting it wet and dirty. It still looks almost exactly like it did on day one and, more importantly, it was comfortable the entire time.

Review Citizen Series 8

Citizen introduced the Series 8 in 2008 for the Japanese market, and it was not launched globally until later, in 2021.

The Series 8 is one of Citizen’s most refined mechanical collections, featuring distinctive case shapes, detailed dial finishing, and a strong presence on the wrist. The number “8” was chosen as a symbol of the infinite (∞) possibilities of Citizen’s craftsmanship.

It is powered by the in house manufactured Caliber 9051. The movement is resistant to magnetic fields up to 16,000 A/m, making it much less susceptible to smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other everyday electronics. That is a major advantage over many standard automatic movements.

The H-link bracelet is beautifully finished and extremely comfortable on the wrist. The new clasp is very well executed. I find it to be very accurate, and in my opinion, it is one of the best watches you can get for under €1000.

Photon is available. Who’s ordering?

Curious how quickly these will go. I have to imagine the design will be a little polarizing, but this is my favorite Citizen I’ve seen, perhaps ever.
