Yesterday was my 43rd Birthday. Wife got me a new (and first proper) watch. Citizen Calendrier BU2021-51L.
To say I'm loving it is an understatement. Now i need some strap recommendations lol

Recently went on a Cruise to Alaska. Did an excursion to a suspension bridge in Yukon Territory. Thought I'd share.
I may have gone a bit overboard on the B&W edits lol.
Just got back from an Alaskan Cruise (NCL). It was a sight to see.

Stopped at the store when I got out of work looking to upgrade my RF 100-400. Initially I was looking at the RF 70-200 f2.8 Z. But something told me i should go for the lens I originally wanted to get when I first purchased my RF 100-400.
So I get there, no Z version. Last 100-500 sitting on the shelf. It was meant to be.
Plus the discounts were too good to pass up. After all is said and done, I paid about $2200 for it ($300 Instant rebate, $296 for the 100-400 trade in, another $296 in unused CC rewards points).
Looking forward to taking it out more often.
I've been in the market for a RF 70-200. Doing my research and looking at YT videos and lenses and such. So yesterday, my wife calls me while I'm at work and say's "I'm going to say this once and you better do it before I change my mind. Buy the lens you want because I'm tired of seeing YT videos and Chrome Tabs of lenses you've been looking at." Perfect right? She just gave me carte blanche to get what I want
Except now I don't know what I want. I know I want a 70-200 f2.8. I'm just I can afford the Z version. But I'm also very much a hobbyist. I dont make money off my photos and I probably couldnt book gigs even If I wanted to due to life responsibilities and family obligations.
Sole reason to get a 70-200 is because I want something better than the 100-400mm I use to photograph my son's HS and club soccer games (not to say the 100-400 isnt great. It is. But we all know it's lacking in low light situations). I've also thought about trading in my 100-400 and taking what I can and putting that towards a 2x or 1.4x TC. So now I sit here, watching even more videos and reviews and trying to figure out what I want to get.
So I'm asking for the community's help. Just say screw it and get the new Z version for my needs (Pay Once, cry once). Or just be sensible and go for the "no frills" older version.
Help, me r/canon. You're my only hope!
So as of now, i contribute 13% to each. I have about 10.5 more pay periods to go before both are maxed out for the year (November time frame).

For those of you with higher than normal salaries, do you go high in the first few months or just spread it out during the year. With over 50% funded for the year, its got me thinking if i should go heavy early or just stay the course.

Just curious how you guys approach maxing out your tax deferred accounts.

For the record, Roth IRA is fully funded the 1st day the market opens in January and i do not get an employer match.

As the title says. I got up this morning, after laying in bed at work (overnights FTW) reading about how your Roth should be a little bit more on the agressive side, and now I'm strongly considering ripping up my modest Roth IRA and going 100% into VUG/VGT (I Know VGT is a sector fund.)
For reference, I have a a 401k and a 457b (through employer) both set to 13% contributions each pay period. This should have both accounts maxed out by November time frame (if past maxed out dates hold steady). My 401k is 85/10/5 Equity Index Fund(VOO Equivalent)/International/Bonds. My 457 is 100% in Equity Index Fund. Roth is already fully funded for this year (I did that Jan 2). Balance in Roth is $36k (i've been maxing it out every year for the last 4 years and will continue to max out until retirement in 10 years). Current allocations is 80/20 VTI/VXUS. I also have a taxable account which is 100% VTI.
As I stated before, Retirement is about 10 years away. 42 years of age. I'll recieve a pension from my job (about $8k-ish give or take). I also get something from the VA for service connected injuries (Marine Corps Veteran).
So, gut it and start an agressive tilt or leave as it is?
