Man's body found near Salton Sea; sheriff calls scene ‘suspicious’

The death of a man whose body was found near the Salton Sea is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said.

The Imperial County Sheriff's Office said the body of the victim, 34-year-old Pedro Montes Jr. of Salton City, was found on Sunday, May 17.

Someone reported discovering a possible dead body in the area of Plaza and Panorama avenues in Salton City, a community on the western edge of the Salton Sea, that Sunday morning. Responding deputies found the body and "noted the scene to be suspicious in nature," the sheriff's office said in a press release.

Ride from LA from Palm Desert

So I flew into LAX and ended up not loving LA and came to to desert instead. Unfortunatly my ride back to LA fell through. So I’m trying to find a ride back to LA to catch a flight home. Spent all day trying to find flights out of Palm Springs and it’s so outrageously expensive and lots of layovers. Does anyone happen to be driving to LA from the desert this week/weekend?

what cities in CA that are at least 100 miles apart resemble one another?

I can think of 3 pairs

  1. Fremont and Rancho Cucamonga- both up scale superb with lots of ethnic diversity and Indian groceries.
  2. Indio and San Fernando - both have old time downtowns and are largely Mexican American
  3. Healdsburg and Paso Robles - both bougie wine towns.

Comments? Any other pairs?

What was that firework show in Indian wells/la Quinta

Tonight around 9:30 I was driving eastwards on hwy 111 and around Cook st I noticed some fireworks, first to the lefthand side of the road and then the right. I pulled over and got closer to the fireworks, which seemed to be coming from the south so that would’ve been Indian Wells country clubs or maybe the La Quinta cove area. My mom got a video of the fireworks that’s a solid 5 minutes long and we saw them for maybe 5 minutes before that. Who put that on? What was it for? Haha kind of random
