Democrats flipped a Pennsylvania State House seat in a Trump +18 district in Butler County yesterday where Trump was nearly assassinated.

There was a special election to fill the seat that was vacated by the former GOP incumbent that left in March. The Democrat challenger won the seat by 88 total votes. The seat has been held by Republicans since the ‘90s. Pennsylvania House Democrats now hold a 103-100 majority after having a 102-101 majority since they flipped the chamber in 2022 and maintained it in 2024.

The same candidates will face off again in November for the full two-year term.

Special elections matter, folks!

"BREAKING: I'm told by federal source that the suspect arrested in Fairfax County, VA for the stabbing murder of a mother near a jogging trail in Great Falls, VA is a Salvadoran illegal alien who was caught and released at the border by the Biden admin in El Paso, TX in April 2024. Fairfax County Police announced the arrest of 19-year-old Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos this morning in connection to the stabbing killing of Carmen Lizet Puch on Monday and released a photo of his arrest.

I've also included a photo of Cedillos-Campos from when he was in Border Patrol custody in 2024, courtesy of a federal source. NBC Washington reports Puch was 42-years-old and had a young daughter."

Victor Davis Hanson: Regarding the midterms, "We haven't heard from the republicans any strategy, and the time is getting close..."

"It seems to me that it doesn't work just to trash the socialists. They should be trashed, but there has to be more than that."

I think he makes some good points, i.e. not smart to just sit back and say, "Well maybe this time it will be different". Not sure his "Contract with America" will work. Not at this juncture anyway.

Your thoughts?

Padres' minor league coach detained by ICE at El Paso Airport...

His family says he is here legally.

ICE says he legally migrated from Venezuela in 2014. Was allowed to stay until 2018. He has not had legal status since then, and, according to ICE, "has overstayed his welcome".

"On August 16, 2026, Border Patrol arrested Oswaldo Jose Pirela Dominguez, an illegal alien from Venezuela, at the El Paso International Airport. He entered the country legally on September 10, 2014, and was granted permission by the Obama administration to remain in the country until February 10, 2018. In violation of our nation’s laws, he overstayed his welcome. When approached by law enforcement officers, he was not in possession of legal documentation granting him status in the country. He will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings and will receive due process.

To be clear, work authorization or a pending application do NOT confer legal status in the United States.

Being in detention is a choice. We encourage all illegal aliens to take control of their departure with the CBP Home App. The United States is offering illegal aliens $2,600 and a free flight to self-deport now. We encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right legal way to live the American dream. If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return."

Dan Neidle on X: "Why was the Jason Arday story broken by a r@cist blogger and not the mainstream press? Because Times Higher Education was intimidated off the story by a letter from notorious libel firm Carter-Ruck. I'm publishing the letter. Its central claim may be false."
