What’s Really in Our Ice Cream?

While I was in Italy, we learned about gelato, which it’s obviously known for. We were taught about the ingredients, and our tour guide explained that in the United States and Canada, some versions are just color-based to excite people, especially children, because bright colours are fun and appealing. So of course, kids get excited and want to eat it, while all you’re actually ingesting are chemicals and food colouring.

Have you ever learned something about food abroad that completely changed how you see what you eat back home?
