Howdy fixers. I need a good jerry rig. I bought a new cooler but the manufacturer doesn't have baskets for this model. Found some generic ones online that looked like they might fit but they're about a half inch too short for the tabs to sit on the shelf of the cooler.
I can probably just cut the top bar of the wire basket and bend it so it's a little wider and that would work, there's clearance up above for the angle change and it doesn't need a ton of structural integrity but I would rather not have to destroy it to make it work. Anybody have any ideas for a way I can extend the tabs a half inch or so?
Do they still make coolers where the lid comes off? Where I need to put a cooler, there's no room for a hinged lid to open.
I have had a vintage cooler kicking around for the last year and had no particular use for it. The thing is rough, but complete. Finally came up with an idea, sealed up the cracked corners, and had my sister customize it for the fourth of July.
Got this RTIC ultra light 32qt for a steal with this little bit of damage to just the top plastic layer.
As I’m sure many in the group have experienced something similar what or how did you go about repairing/fixing it?
Don’t have the chunk that came off - but was thinking about either epoxy, jdweld, duct tape or sticker bombing it - or all the above.
No damage to foam just the 3x3” area of plastic.
Picked this up at my local thrift store for $2.99 which I thought was a bargain. No cracks, just needs to be cleaned up. Does the mark on the bottom mean this was made in April 1994?
Hey all, looking to get a 20qt give or take sized cooler for the back of my work vehicle, having a locking lid is kinda a must because strong possibility it could tip over so would prefer that feature. It doesn't need to be a thicker rotomolded type cooler, however, that's kind of all i'm seeing for coolers that offer that feature.
Was looking at the following:
RITC UL 22QT, Roadie 24 2.0, Coleman Pro 17qt (smaller but good price), Catorgator 20qt (good price but 90 day warranty).
Anyone have any recs based on info im looking for? I would even just get a classic coleman chiller or something but i dont really want it to fall over and leak over everything in my trunk.
Check this out
Im looking at both these coolers since they are very similarly priced. From what I've seen the Maluna is better than the RTIC, but not by a lot for my needs. So I'm considering getting more space for the money. Id like to get opinions on these cooler options or any other similar suggestions.
For reference my use would be car camping 2-4 days, and for hunting white deer.
New to this and buying our first cooler. In between these 2. Rtic 72 QTs Ultra light or Igloo 70 qt Yukon. Won’t be used for camping but for beach vacation. The portability is nice but is it worth the extra $100 dollars?
Has anyone seen a fridge like this before? I've just bought this off Facebook marketplace, it all works and in really good condition. I just can't find another one online.
I got a code from a past post on this subreddit so I am paying it forward. RTIC has some good deals for the 4th. (I picked up the 22qt ultralight in Red white and blue for $94 after the stacked discounts)
Anyone else have this issue with their RTIC cooler? I have had this one about two years and the seam where the green plastic meets the orange is separating.
I have and love my larger yeti but I need one the size smaller to carry to dock and be a workhorse on trips.
REI has the same sale. Both of these are 20% off. Which way do I go? More accessories, more interior space…. Or the tried and true… Seafoam! Will be the cooler for the next 20 years. Using REI rewards.
What’s your vote?
Has anyone seen any reviews or information regarding the new 1/3hp active aqua chiller with built in pump and filter?
We’ve been using frozen water bottles in our Cooler Y instead of filling it with loose ice.
It works surprisingly well:
It’s also a useful backup for a powered fridge. If the power is disconnected, a few frozen bottles can help it stay cold longer and temporarily function more like a regular cooler.
Simple, clean, and one less thing to deal with on a road trip or camping weekend.
Does anyone else pack their cooler this way?
I ordered a brand new RTIC ultra tough 45z this is my first rotomolded cooler. Is this gap normal for this style/ model?
Got this old guy for practically free. Will be putting it to good use for over the summer as I camp very frequently. I was thinking of doing a basic restoration/clean up and was wondering how I’d go about fixing up the cracks to the plastic shell? Not against just duct tapping it but if there a more permanent fix I’d love some insight!
