Hit my Claude Usage telling it to create a folder/document in Craft

So I am using Claude and I’m creating some documents while I build a web app. Now, I wanted to use Craft to keep this documentation. I said to my self well let’s connect the MCP server and have Claude do it for us in real time. So I connected the Claude with Craft via the MCP connection. I told Claude was able to read my all my documents because I allowed it. It recognized I had a folder called projects. So it asked me to create a folder inside projects called “declare and believe” and create a document called “ Declare and Believe - Journal.” Cool it did that. It took the steps I wanted to document and added it in the folder. Now idk what happened but I hit my limit with Claude by doing this one document.

I was very surprised on what happened here. Literally stopped me from moving forward in building my web app.

Is this normal for my usage to have reached my limit with this prompt? Has anybody experienced this in having Claude create/update a folder or document in craft?

Voicenotes MCP + Craft MCP + Claude

I'm a relatively long-term Craft user. I only recently started using its MCP server with Claude. It's been really useful and eye-opening.

Every Monday, I create two new documents in Craft: A "Week of _______" for work and a "Week of _______" for personal use. I create them from templates I previously structured. In those documents I capture notes, thoughts, todos, and so on. My thinking has always been that I'll use Craft's AI assistant to find things when needed down the road.

A couple weeks back I started using Claude to create the new weekly documents from those templates, including updating the document titles, all with just a one-sentence prompt. No clicking around in Craft. It's been terrific.

I'm also a Voicenotes user for capturing on-the-go notes and recording meetings without a bot joining the call. Voicenotes transcribes and summarizes, like a lot of these types of apps. I've always wanted these two worlds to collide so all of my notes are in one place. Well, yesterday Voicenotes announced its own MCP server and wow...what a game-changer for me.

I'm now able to:

  • Create documents from templates via Claude/Craft as mentioned above
  • Record notes or meetings via Voicenotes with a single click on my Mac...which are then uploaded to Voicenotes, where they are summarized and transcribed
  • Tell Claude to grab that new summary and add it to a specific block in the Craft document

Because of Craft's block structure, Claude knows exactly how to do this and it hasn't failed me after doing this 10 different times over the last 24 hours. Maybe I'm easily wowed, but this is amazing to me.

I don't see this as advanced compared to what some people are doing. But the tedious and constant copying and pasting I had to do prior to these two MCPs existing was crazy.

Now, finally, Craft will handle all of my notes once I port my old ones over from Apple Notes...

More complaining

EDIT:
I am not talking about the notes themselves, I am talking about the UI elements.
For example, other than being extremely slow, the square-ish buttons Craft uses are, in my opinion, uglier than the default native ones, that’s all.

———————————————

Earlier, I opened the Craft website and saw this image:

And this is BEAUTIFUL. The buttons, the sidebar, the tabs, the corners, everything is so nice and coherent.

Then, I opened the actual app on my mac, which looks like this:

What is this?? Where are the beautiful pill-shaped tabs? Where are the rounded corners on notes?

What are these buttons? Why are they rectangles?

SwiftUI already offers beautiful UI elements, like buttons, tabs, and menus for native macOS apps. Why did Craft have to design their own?

And I wouldn't be complaining if they weren't WORSE than the native ones.

The problem is not that the app is ugly or slow (although I think it is), it's that they know how to make something great, they just choose to give us the worse option.

I have a feeling….

I have a feeling that when craft does get ocr text search completed (they are currently working on this) and allow us to set our own start page (they are working on this one too) and treats notes as first class citizens (faster creation of notes, etc) that they are going to suddenly become unstoppable.

The Evernote import needs a little love as well but I do think this year and next that Craft app will be the one to watch. ;)

Importing from a Craft Backup

The import docs cover importing from other apps, but not from a craft export

They also do not cover any overwrite or merge rules

Does anyone (Craft team, feel free to respond) know how this process works and what happens to pages that already exist

This becomes important If you want a second space or account as a backup

Thanks

Just used all my AI Usage Quota trying to organize my notes

I ended up bringing 360 notes from Apple Notes and Google Docs. Because they are all scattered, I thought I could use the built-in Assistant to organize things neatly into folders. It turns out it didn't do what I asked for, and it ended up gaslighting me into thinking that it could, which led me to consume all of my AI Quota on something useless! Is this something you can do in Craft using AI? I tried doing it with MCP, which I thought was read/write, but apparently, it is read-only. Does anyone know a way to make AI organize all of these notes into different folders?

Mark as Favorite Any Page

Hey everyone! As a suggestion, I would really love the ability to mark any content as favorites, whether it’s subpages or items inside collections, since currently only the root document can be marked as a favorite.

A lot of the time, there’s specific content inside those documents that I need to work on frequently, and I don’t want to navigate page by page every time just to reach it.

I hope you can take this into consideration.

How can I save all my Daily Notes in one folder for future reference?

I use Craft Docs for interstitial journaling, and it works well—especially because its clean, neat UI helps stimulate my thinking.

However, I haven’t found a way to save all my Daily Notes in a single folder for easy reference later. My current workaround is to copy and paste the content into new notes and then save those notes into a folder. While this method has a gentle learning curve, it’s quite cumbersome.

I’m sure there must be a simpler way to do this. Could you please share your suggestions?

New fonts

It would be nice to have access to more fonts, especially since two of them are very similar (I can barely tell Round and System apart). I think the app would look more beautiful and rich. Is this something the team is planning to add in the future?

Move columns in collections

Is there literally no way to move columns in collections? I see and find no option, quite a bummer

EDIT: resolved, thanks to u/Kind-News3775

>Open the collection dialog and select configure collection then you can rearrange the field order.

Web & Windows update is out!

We've been working hard to significantly improve Craft on Web and Windows. This release is the first step in a broader push to raise the overall quality of Craft across every platform, expect more to follow.

It brings personalization, performance, and polish: new tabs open faster, memory usage is smarter, a new in-app update banner keeps you current, and we've fixed a long list of keyboard, sync, and editor issues, including a major fix for Dvorak, QWERTZ, and AZERTY layouts.

Highlights

  • Faster, smoother app: New tabs open noticeably quicker thanks to a pre-warmed view. Idle background tabs are auto-released after 10 minutes to keep memory in check.
  • In-app updates: A new update banner appears when an update is ready, plus a manual Check for updates button in the About section.
  • Daily-note date navigator: A new pill control lets you jump between days quickly.
  • Quicker navigation: "Open in new tab" is now available in folder and shared-with-me menus, and every document card has a handy Copy link action.
  • Cross-tab sync: Language, theme, and "What's New" dismissal now stay in sync across all your open tabs.
  • Big keyboard fix: Letter shortcuts and Cmd+. / Cmd+/ now work correctly on Dvorak, QWERTZ, AZERTY, and other non-US keyboard layouts.
  • Personalize your accent color: Pick any accent color and watch it flow through the editor: links, selection, drag highlights, the daily-note "Today" header, and icon badges all adapt automatically. Dark mode keeps everything readable, even on bright accents.

Editor improvements

  • Pasting into a table cell now lands inside the cell instead of below the table
  • Single-click no longer toggles edit/select on empty table cells
  • Improved formula editing in tables
  • New visible-section indicator in the Table of Contents sidebar
  • Smoother sidebar animations and tighter row spacing
  • Fixed cover image clashing with content in wide page layout
  • Select block on right-click

Collections

  • Fixed SUM aggregation precision and grouped-calculation scope
  • Kanban: fixed infinite render loop in group toggles and card insertion with duplicated column names
  • Faster gallery card opening on fast double-click
  • Better theming in popups and menus

Sync & stability

  • More reliable cross-tab logout and restored Windows context menu
  • Fixed clipping on maximized windows
  • Folder move-to-root sync and root folder ordering fixed
  • Tab state survives disk errors gracefully, no more crashes on low disk space
  • Fewer memory leaks and render loops throughout the editor

If you want to join to our Beta Program, receive the latest versions earlier and have direct contact to the Team, please ping me for access!

Thanks for using Craft!

Is OCR still coming to Craft

Last year (I think) it was stated OCR was coming, what arrived was an ai feature that isn’t really ocr in the sense understood for notes and search. Is actual OCR, like Evernote level OCR something that is planned for documents or is now is good as that will be?

Links to locally stored files

Is there a way to link to files in local storage instead of embedding them in a document? I don't want to use extra tools like Hookmark, just what's available natively on MacOS. I realise that this will limit access to these files from other platforms. I'm willing to accept that restriction. At this point all I'm doing is storing the file path as text in the document, but that's a nuisance.

Using Craft as a brains-dump

I keep dreaming of a workflow that would make Craft the perfect brain-dump app and second-brain system. It already has many of the right building blocks, but the connections and automation between them still feel limited.

My ideal workflow would look something like this:

- I quickly capture anything:

- web links

- screenshots

- voice memos

- tasks

- reminders

- quick thoughts

- Everything goes straight into a universal inbox with minimal friction.

- Later, during processing, I add tags, properties, or relations.

- Based on those tags/properties, items are then automatically collected into:

- folders

- collections

- dashboards

- documents

- project spaces

At the moment, Craft feels very close, but there are still some structural limitations:

- Tags are still quite limited and not deeply integrated into workflows.

- Collections are restricted inside their parent documents rather than acting globally.

- Shortcuts can append to documents, but not directly into collections/databases/views.

- Captured content cannot easily include active elements like mentions, backlinks, or relations during quick capture.

- There is still friction between “capture first” and “organize later.”

What I would love to see:

- A true global inbox

- More powerful tags/properties

- Dynamic smart collections based on filters

- Global collections/databases not tied to one document

- Better automation rules

- Shortcut support for adding structured objects directly into collections

- Ability to create mentions/backlinks/relations during capture

- More object-based workflows rather than purely document-based organization

Craft already has one of the best writing and UX experiences out there. These kinds of workflow improvements could make it an incredible PKM and second-brain platform as well.

Feature request: Graph View similar to Obsidian

Hi Craft team,

Please consider adding a Graph View feature similar to Obsidian.

It would help users visually see connections between documents, backlinks, folders, and linked pages. This would make Craft much stronger for personal knowledge management, research, study notes, and long-term knowledge organization.

A global graph and local graph for each document would be very useful.

Thanks for considering this feature.

Craft Agents is a worth competitor to Codex CLI

I really enjoy using Craft Agents, I was looking for an opensource or free non vendor locked alternative to Codex and Craft Agents is simply the best in it's class. I don't see a lot of people talking about it which is interesting since it probably is the easiest to use Agentic platform compared to things like Hermes etc. Just posting this to make sure people know and good job Craft team!

How can I move "Unsorted" out of the "Folders" section?

Hi everybody,

I am new to Craft. I want to move the "Unsorted" out of the "Folders" section. I have tried everything but couldn't figure out. First I thought that it was impossible until I came across a Youtube video where Unsorted is visibly out of the folders section.

Could you please help me?
