[OC] "The Sovereign's Gilded Burden" - A creature design exploring the illusions of imperial glory.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my latest creature design and the specific concepts behind it.

The visual design is heavily inspired by 16th-century artifacts. I used the European ivory-hilted sword (top left) and an Indian/Mughal-style curved dagger (bottom left) as my primary references.

My core idea was to deconstruct the visual narrative of an "Empire". I wanted to create an entity whose majesty is entirely built on what it took from others:

The Ivory Mane:The aging war-lion represents the grand symbol of a royal empire. Its glorious, ruffled mane is carved to resemble ivory—a deliberate irony. Since the empire possesses no native elephants, the very material that crowns its head is entirely extracted from its colonies in regions like South Asia. The Weapon:The strength he projects is borrowed. The curved dagger he firmly grips in his jaws belongs to a colonized culture, serving as his primary fang. The Golden Wounds:The battle scars on his body don't reveal flesh, but rather stolen gold and looted riches that act as his "bones" (inspired by Kintsugi).

He is an illusion of self-made glory—a creature wearing his plunder as armor while slowly fracturing from within.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the concept and the visual execution!

Not even sure what to call this thing, and it looks sloppy 🤣

A worm like bladed creature with a serious crosshatching rash.

Humanoid creature with armor

Based on Bloodborne, this is a creature with a disfigured face and tentacles all over its head; I wanted to make a more experimental armor. But unfortunately, since it was my first armor practice, I went for the most "casual" look. What do you think of this character as an anti-hero battling monstrous, infected souls, almost of his own kind?

Miscellaneous creature design stuff

sorry for poor photo quality, the only light source I had to photograph these (except for the first) was my phone flash D:

i’ve already started texturing, but my main priority is finishing the other corpses first.
