I hosted a craft meet up for the first time

Hi everyone! I just stumbled across this page today and wish I knew earlier!

I hosted for the first time a casual & social craft meet up at a park locally in Coquitlam over the weekend.

Only 4 people showed up as I advertised it on a private group so it makes it difficult to host indoors where you require a specific number.. I made it open for any types of craft as I crochet & knit.

I’m open to hosting again at a different location and at a different park, but with summer ending very soon. I wish there were more options outside of libraries for indoor craft meet ups that are free or open for all.

A lot of the crochet meet up groups only meet on weekdays that I could find, so that was the main reason why I attempted to host an event on a Sunday afternoon.

If anyone knows what better locations would work for the fall/winter season (cafes, libraries/rooms that don’t require a booking)?

Enormous pattern stash with lots of crochet. What to do with it?

Almost all vintage. Mostly 50s and 60s including several issues of a 50s era Crochet magazine. Lots of neat patterns for clothes to crochet, especially pre-hippie era 60s. I made a lot of them when I was younger but they don't suit my style now. I'm in North Vancouver. I don't know if anyone here is interested in vintage patterns but I thought I'd see if someone wanted to take them before I drop off at a thrift store somewhere.

Have you used Scheepjes Catona yarn? If yes, what do you think of it?

I currently use Patons Astra for most of my amigurumi projects, but I’ve seen some beautiful projects made with Scheepjes Catona mercerised cotton. It looks like it might produce a smoother, more polished finish, and the price seems comparable to Astra. If you've used Catona, how did you like working with it? Also, wondering what is the best place to order it in BC (or elsewhere in Canada).

Just a lil' sea turtle hangin' out at Iona Beach Regional Park

Had a lovely evening out with my hubby tonight to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. After trying hot pot for the first time (it was GREAT btw!), we went for a stroll at Iona Beach Regional Park with some of my crocheted friends for a fun photo shoot. Here's one of my recent FO's. Also, just a friendly reminder that the Crochet in the Wild photo contest is still on until midnight, August 31, 2025! That means that you still have 22 days, 3 hours, 11 minutes to take any/all of your FO's outside and take a picture (or two, or three...) and post them here with the proper flair. BTW, it doesn't have to be something you made recently. Have a favourite summer crocheted outfit/top/cover-up that you made? We'd love to see it! Contest details can be found HERE.
