Persistent vulvar burning with no visible symptoms looking for advice
Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar because I’m really struggling to understand what’s causing this.
I’ve been dealing with external vulvar burning for quite a long time. The burning can sometimes also affect the area around the anus. What’s confusing is that I usually have no visible sores, blisters, pimples, rash, unusual discharge, bad smell, or other obvious symptoms.
I’ve had periods where the symptoms completely disappear for weeks or even a month, and then the burning comes back.
Some things I’ve noticed:
The burning can be worse after urinating and washing/cleaning the area.
Tight clothing can trigger or worsen it.
Plain water sometimes seems to irritate me, especially the water where I currently live.
Warm water or a sitz bath can sometimes make it feel better.
I don’t currently use feminine washes, douches, scented products, or other products on the vulva.
I don’t have pain during sex.
I’ve previously had testing that didn’t show an obvious infection.
I’ve tried antifungal treatment before, but I’m not sure that an infection is actually the cause.
Sometimes medication/creams seem to make the burning worse rather than better.
I’m planning to see a gynecologist and would like to have appropriate testing done rather than continuing to randomly treat for yeast infections.
Has anyone experienced persistent vulvar burning with a completely normal-looking vulva and no sores, blisters, discharge, or odor?
What ended up being the cause for you? Did anyone eventually diagnose something like vulvodynia, nerve irritation, contact dermatitis, pelvic floor issues, or another condition?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially if your symptoms came and went like mine.

I am 28 year old female and I don’t have menopause.
I really need your help here. I’ve been struggling with recurring BV and yeast and UTI infections for 7 years.
I have done absolutely everything
My symptoms are burning constant (internal and external burning) and discharge (yellow and white) I seem to be feeling better during my period but worst after my period is done. And I’m so depressed and out of hope. I have tested myself million times with swabs and the most recent swab came positive for yeast infection and negative for BV. I never tested positive for any STDs. I had one partner and I’m not with him anymore.
I have constant burning sensation (internal burning) not just when I pee at the opening.
I asked my doctor to test me for the first time for ureaplasma and mycoplasma and all the report says is “ ureaplasma isolated” but doesn’t say if it’s infection or what species it is. Doctor said I should take doxycycline.
My question is, could the ureaplasma be the reason behind the BV? And yeast?
I also took two swabs on the same day, one swab sent it to public health for testing and one I sent to Evvy.
Results from Evvy show high disruptive score (out of range) with gardnerella leopoldii 63% , gardnerella swidsinksii 13.14%, lactobacillus crispatus 8.5% and fannyhessea 10.40% .

Evvy result shows NO yeast species detected, NO ureaplasma detected
My public health result tested positive for yeast infection, negative for BV!!!! And I am not sure if the “ ureaplasma isolated” in my medical report actually means that there is an infection.
Please if someone can advise me what to do.
I am taking oral Jarrow Formulas fem dophilus 50B CFU probiotics now I started last week. I also am going to start taking lactoferrin.
But my question is - medically has anyone gone through the treatment of weekly flucanozole for 6 months and the metronidazole gel 0.75% twice weekly for several months? Did this treatment work?

I have taken antibiotics for BV and fluconozole for yeast million of times over the past 7 years.
It always comes back.

​I’m looking for some help as I’m not sure what might be causing my symptoms, but I stumbled upon cytolytic vaginosis (CV) and now I’m wondering if that could be it.

​In the past, I suffered a lot from yeast infections, which caused a persistent burning sensation. I used boric acid for a long time and took oral probiotics continuously after that. Those symptoms eventually went away, and then my current symptoms started.

​My vaginal discharge is a bit on the watery side with tiny specks/particles in it, but it’s not clumpy or cottage cheese-like at all. Right now I don’t have any issues inside the vagina itself. What’s still causing trouble is that I need to urinate frequently, and sometimes it burns when I pee. My urine culture came back negative. I had Ureaplasma in the past, but that was treated and re-tested negative back then; I’m with the same partner, who was also tested when I was.

​I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar symptoms and whether CV turned out to be the cause?

​I would really appreciate any advice, as I’m starting to get quite desperate. I have no symptoms during my period.
