Wall of agony + summon shard

I always gravitate towards weird off meta skills and builds. Lately I’ve been running this setup that spams wall of agony and constantly detonates the wall with Legion summon shard.

Essentially what happens is I’ll lay down as many walls on top of or near a mob, explode the wall then explode the wall demon brutes that remain. The wall and the brutes hit in the double digit billions with it going as high as 300b.

The damage is sufficient to farm T10, the survivability isn’t that bad with the wretch punching bag. I’m only P210 so I think there’s a lot of power on the table.

Has anyone tried a similar setup? What I find most interesting is the mechanics of the setup, where the summon shard effectively ‘explodes/cancels) all active walls transforming them from this monolithic meat shield to a massive army of mobile brutes

Apocalypse Warlock P114 — sanity check on my stat sheet, and is one all-round setup realistic or do I need two loadouts?

Direction question. Two parts:

1. Is one all-round Apocalypse setup realistic, or is the honest answer that push and farm are different builds and I should run a damage-heavy loadout for Pit/Tower/bosses and a mobility loadout for Helltides, dungeons and Undercity? If it’s two loadouts, how much of the gear actually overlaps, i.e. am I farming one set of items or two?

2. For a mostly self-found solo player at my investment level, is Apocalypse the right thing to commit to at all, or should I be on something smoother like Lunatic until I’ve got mats and mythics, then transition? Happy to rebuild once, don’t want to build the wrong thing twice.

Also, if there’s a specific piece of content I should be avoiding entirely until I hit certain numbers, say so. I’d rather skip Tower for two weeks than keep wasting keys on runs I can’t finish.

If the answer to most of this is “run the Pit, get Stones, masterwork, come back”, I’ll take that as the answer.

Aspect of Mutilation

On Two-Handed, it says this:

“If you fail to Eviscerate an enemy, you still apply 60.0% [40.0–60.0]% of its Bleeding damage for 3 seconds. (Warlock Only)”

Say your skill damage is 100. You would expect to get:
100 × 10 [Eviscerate DoT Multi] × 60% [Aspect] = 600 extra damage, applied as a 3s DoT, 100 damage per tick.

But what it actually does is:
100 × 10 ÷ 24 [12s DoT ticks] × 60% = 25
So you only get 25 damage per tick for 3 seconds, for a total of 150 extra damage.

Some skills have a higher or lower Eviscerate DoT multiplier, and they can also have different success rates. If the rate is 5%, this aspect triggers 95% of the time. That means the actual damage increase is only around 142.5%[x], plus some extra help for the eviscerate direct damage.

Edit: Average DPS increase is even less than 142.5%, only about 46.5%.

Why is my damage so low?

Running Apocalypse build, emulating the top tower clears affixes/skills. Curious how these people are doing Tower 145+ when with similar gear I can barely do a 5 min pit 130?
Attached are my stats. Right now highest I’ve saw was 450tril which is low for those high of tower. I have Fire damage transfig in on Helm and gloves, atk speed on wep/pants/armor, mythic seal with 14% dmg that reduces charm slot by 1(min 2). So how are they doing 1000t+? My glyphs are 120-125 all. Can those last 25-30 levels really double my damage? 🫠

Edit: I didn’t properly test my gear since I got that Seal + 2 new rings. Definitely not the best Warlock around but more on par where I thought I should be by comparing my gear to the top players lol

TLDR: I’m dumb. I upgraded 2 pieces of gear earlier and got a decent mythic Seal and didn’t really test them, highest damage in pit is 1600t now lol. Need to do some runs and test further but my dps is 3x higher then I thought

My apocalypse warlock build

Copied from kingshipton leaderboard haha. But this build does massive damage. This is my third class this season after druid and paladin. Paladin is okish. Druid is crazy good and I feel warlock is also in a great spot. Used my druid to mule exp from caches and levelled this to 70 without even playing.

Top 20 Leaderboard & Builds

Top20 Normal & SSF

The Warlock ladder is insanely competitive this season.

Also, it's interesting that such a wide variety of builds are up on the leaderboard.

Particularly in SSF, we're seeing all sorts of different builds perform really well.

All the expert predictions about Warlock before Season 14 started are turning out to be completely wrong.

The first 148 clear for Warlock is also a notable milestone to watch.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<# of players for each bulid in Top 20 Normal & SSF>

  • 24 - Tyrant's Grasp (Sin Demon)
  • 7 - Apocalypse
  • 5 - Lunatic
  • 1 - Profane Sentinel (Sin Demon)
  • 1 - Blazing Scream (Destruction Demon)
  • 1 - Tyrant's Grasp (Destruction Demon)
  • 1 - Abyss Apocalypse (like CMA)

Abyss Sigil of Smoke

I've been experimenting with the chaos sigil of smoke variant as I really enjoy the screen filling of the smoke arrows.

I combined it with the full nameless set and the 3 set of harash and made hell fracture my spam skill since it works so well locking enemies down.

This is my version of an abyss sigil hell fracture and with high attack speed and high crit chance it's quite a fun hell tide build. This is an off meta fast lock down type build that can be tanky when spamming skills.

My main focus was a sigil based build that would hex the screen and sigil of smoke is really a fun option. With the night terror and close to max shadow form it hits harder than expected.

Which Warlock build to play for most fun?

I just recently am returning to D4, haven't played since season 2. I went through maxroll and picked a build for every class that seemed like it would be the most fun based off of the pros and cons of the build.

I picked Blazing Scream warlock and have really enjoyed it. Honestly has been my favorite toon to play so far. I opened up t12 but have been farming in t11 because I got 1 shot way too much in t12. I finally got my ring of starless skies, put that on and my crown of the lucion, and like a dumb ass salvaged the gear legendaries I was wearing. Now I'm struggling in t10 and hate my life but figured this is the perfect time to try a different build.

So what build do you all feel is the most fun or satisfying?

Warlock Selig build. Just wanted to share incase anyone wanted to play a laid back no worries build. This is on the PTR.

This build uses the Melted Selig with Seed of Horazon for damage scaling and is able to tank and deal damage. Really laid back play style and no need worrying about running out of resource/Metamorphosis. It's still able to pit push, fast farming, and kills all T12 Bosses.

Lucion and Apoc build?

I notice the leaderboards have people running Lucion for apoc builds, but when I tried this I just have resource management issues even with Valloch 100% up. How do people running this not have wrath issues?

So Warlock also got the Core stat scalar buff in PTR

I guess they just forgot to mention that in the patch note.

It's the same as Druid.

1 Willpower = 0.1625%

I hope it's not unintended.
