Most fancasts I’ve seen for Carl have been white but as far as I can tell there’s not much in the text that suggests he is white. Sure there’s some cover and fan art and Jeff’s voicing is based on Patrick Warburton but beyond that is there any reason Carl has to be white?
Also I know Iffy is IRL not exactly 28 but I also don’t think it’s dealbreaker

I just watched Masters of the Universe and he was quite endearing. And while in MotU maybe not the tortured soul of Carl, I honestly didn’t know he was British until I looked him up, so I think his accent could pass. Also closer in age to book Carl and just adorable. I haven’t watched anything else he has been in but we need to be honest, we are all in love with Carl and welllllllll could be good.
Like a high production animated project similar to Vox Machjna, or Invincible with some big name voice actors & actresses attached to the show could be cool.
As cool as the live action set pieces would be, I feel like some would translate better in animation.
I’m still hype AF for the show as I’m reading through book 7 right now. But I’m trying to rack my brain over how some of it would translate to live action.
Thoughts?
Considering Mordecai not only has his form changed every floor but also his voice, I thought it would make sense to have someone who has a good range when it comes to voices. Enter... Alan Tudyk. Not only is he a great voice actor but he's also a decent comedy actor (just watch him in Resident Alien) and I think he'd make a great Mordecai.
May I present Meryl Streep for your consideration.
In my ideal world there wouldn't be a single known actor in this show. I want all unknowns who are plucked out of their dead end jobs and given a chance to shine. All unknowns. I don't want to recognize a single face.
First, I'm loving all the theme song suggestions, and I've started making a playlist based on them!
Second, while a lot of these suggestions are amazing songs, remember that a theme song is usually 30 seconds or so. (Sometimes longer, especially for high-production stuff!) So even if it's a great DCC-related song, if you don't have a good clip for a theme song...it's not gonna work.
Third, I think it's ideal to have a theme song that's original. Saves on the music rights budget AND gets them a chance to make an instant-classic theme like Westworld or Game of Thrones. With all of our suggestions as part of the "mood board" of course!
Fourth, I think the theme needs to capture not just the action moments, but the overall DCC story. It's not 24/7 violence, so we don't need a theme that is too aggressive.
