About 2 years removed, what is everyone’s thoughts on Kota Ibushi’s short return to DDT in 2024?

Ibushi would come back August of ‘24, back to the promotion he started in, the promotion that called him the “Golden Star”, the promotion he was intended to be the next “Ace” of, after HARASHIMA.

While Ibushi’s return was celebrated and felt like destined to an extent, it very quickly went wrong, as seemingly backstage issues led to Ibushi leaving as soon as he came back.

The biggest report was that Ibushi apparently was genuinely upset at some comments made by the younger gen guys, specifically Yuki Ueno & MAO, who said that they were essentially gonna “protect” DDT from Ibushi, who was considered an “outsider” to them.

Now, it always felt to me like Ueno & MAO were clearly working towards having singles matches against Ibushi, using the frame of him being an “outsider” and them being the “protectors” of current DDT.

Thoughts? Did Ibushi overreact and burn a bridge again? Did Ueno & MAO make a foolish decision, in not clearing what they were gonna say with Ibushi? Will Kota ever return to DDT?

Yuki Ueno’s current KOD reign feels like one of the best in years, is he the defining champion of this DDT era?

Ueno’s been champion since cashing in his contract back in September and just picked up another spectacular defense against KANON at Judgement. He’s mixing power, agility, and that WR finisher while looking absolutely unstoppable against everyone they put in front of him including that massive double title win over Minoru Suzuki at Ultimate Party. He’s had strong feuds and consistently elevates the younger guys on the roster. Does this run remind anyone of prime HARASHIMA or Konosuke Takeshita’s reigns, or is Ueno doing something completely unique? Now that he's gotten past Judgement and Yuki Iino, who do you think should be next in line to challenge him as we head deeper into the tournament season?

no throws match, i'm so confused

They announced a match between Shota seita and To-y where you're not allowed to use any throws, no suplexes, no body slams, no hip tosses, nothing. how does that even work. are you just supposed to punch each other for 15 minutes, do submissions count? can you still do takedowns? they said "throws" specifically so maybe judo style trips and sweeps are fine but any lift and drop is banned. Part of me thinks this is gonna be a weird technical masterpiece where they have to get creative. Other part thinks it's gonna be two guys standing there not knowing what to do. What is MAO’s chant?

The one where he points right, left, and then puffs his chest up. What is the crowd saying and what does it mean?
