I just saw one of the worst things in my life and am so disturbed
I have, unfortunately, seen a lot of really gross and disturbing things in my life. Dead bodies, dying people, blood, brains, and people in other dangerous/life threatening situations. I just feel like I'm always in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Todays may have been the worst thing, though. I was out for my morning run and on the sidewalk in front of me was a cats head. Completely cleaned up, sliced clean, and very intentionally propped up like some sort of display.
Obviously all of the horrific things I've seen involving people have been traumatizing, but this one was an instant "oh no, i'm fucked forever now because I've seen this."
I kept running and then had a realization that I didn't want someone else, especially some kid or something, to also come across this. I did't know what to do, really, so I called the sanitation dept. and they said they could send someone out. As I'm on the phone, two guys come out of an apartment behind the cats head and also immediatly see it. One guy starts saying how someone should clean it up. The other guy goes, "that's all you, man. I'm not touching that thing." The first guy then looks at me and starts yelling, "well are you gonna just look at it or clean it up!?" I told him that I had just called the sanitation dept. and someone was on their way. He then starts going, "fuck that, just get a fucking garbage bag and pick it up like you would dog shit!"
I'm standing there dumbfounded in my fucking running shorts and a t-shirt, obviously not carrying a garbage bag (and even if I were, nah not touching that), so I go, "eh, I mean, I'm not going to stop you but it seems like a bad idea to just toss this in the garbage."
The dude just starts yelling about how everyone is so afraid to just do the thing themselves, and he's always gotta be the one, yada yada.
I saw him grab a bag and I continued on my run. Ran for a block and then just started crying thinking about that poor fucking cat. I mean, the thing must've trusted whoever did this, right? How does one get close enough to a cat like that to just be able to do something like that.
The worst is that I live in a "nicer part" of this fucking city. Yet every day there's piss, shit, vomit, gas station pills, condomns, and every other vile thing you can think of every few feet and now some dude is going around ripping the heads off cats.
If anyone ever suggests to you, "hey, you should move to LA, it's great." They're liars and you should not listen to them. It's terrible.
