Hey guys. I recently found a new plug for spice (something quite rare in the place I live) with more then reasonable prices. The thing is the spice it self is quite different looking from what I’m used to. Far from ‘fluffy white’. He did not disclose the tek he used for the extraction, but I was tould it was jungle spice. Also, it came out of this sort of brick. He told me it was produced on the other side of the planet so it was all pressed for transportation purposes (something I haven’t seen before). Given all of this, I’m wondering about the quality of the spice and what to do… is normal that it has this brownish color? Given its polymorphic properties, I suppose it could come out like this and I’ve read conflicting thoughts that jungle spice is less pure and/or is prone to having some contaminations. Any experience with jungle spice? Should I re-ex? Should I go through recristilization process (if so what should I do? And what lossight I expect)? What would you recommend in general if faced with the same situation?The guy seams super trust worthy and I’m thrilled to have a reliable plug but I’m the one making my own and would rather be safe then sorry tbh. I dont want to go out and buy DMT in my local area because who knows what I'd be getting nowadays, But i just want some for a journey im going to be taking soon. I dont need it, But I thought it'd be best to ask people who truly know. How would I aquire an adequate amount of higher quality dmt, Without risking my health eith taking shortcuts, Or trying to cook something that I truly know I'm not going to be able to do without causing injury if not sonething worse. I'm not one who's going to rush into this process and truly if there is no safe avenues then it isnt for me, Though america hates individuals who just want the occasional mental health journey.

Are these powders containing alkaloids?
Of course, I could just use MHRB, but it's currently not possible where I am.
Has anyone tried extracting it?
First I tried this classic 'mudpie' tek but I got a low yield (>2g DMT) and also diluted too much propylene glycol with the DMT spice so I didn't feel anything and i didn't do a water wash so I burned my trachea with lye residues, so I wanted to try the tek that the pros on this sub recommend : the CAD tek.
Wonderful world of DMT (mudpie - idk it's real name) tek:
100g NaOH lye
800mL distilled water
75g mhrb
no Nacl Salt
With this one I had no such problem and beautiful yellow top heptane layer formed.
CADjunglist tek I did for a 1L flash (i don't have a 2L flask)
800mL distilled water
17.5g NaOH lye
25g NacL salt
100g mhrb
I got a big emulsion after the first swirl after I added the heptane. I suspect that the emulsion signals that there was a massive binding of the heptane with the base, but I just can't figure out what chemistry might have caused it?
I even separated the heptane-soup mix into two containers : a sludge and a brown liquid with the fluidity of water/motor oil.
No heptane top layer formed on the water-like brown liquid
I diluted the sludge soup in distilled water + NaOH lye again to reach a brown liquid with the fluidity of water/motor oil. No heptane top layer also formed.
Yet my mhrb was powdered correctly, a fine power with only tiny fiber like roots. Maybe I put too much mhrb for my flask and maybe that changed the chemistry of the NPS.

The real profound crystals are the 1st batch. Its crystal production has been nothing short of impressive. While the second batch is producing the crystal formation just isn’t really there. I wonder why 🤔
