Nice crystals

These formed from a super slow room temperature evaporation of a straight to base reagent grade petroleum ether extract of MHRB . I covered the dish of solvent with a filter paper and let it be for about a week. It was full of these beautiful crystals sitting in yellow oil that I separated out. Does the yellow goo have active alkaloids in it too?

Organic assissin

I thought she was a dry leaf. I was gonna pluck her off and she wanted to fight me for the branch. Love the work she does in my garden!

Outdoor growing tip for the hot dry desert climate

One thing I learned this year while growing organically in living soil here in the southwest desert is that after the plants get established I add out cap on top of the growing medium of the local clay , just a half inch maybe a little bit less maybe a little bit more what this does is it forms a hard layer before the substrate underneath loses all the water kind of acting like a semipermeable lid over the roots, holding the moisture in for the plant. Careful tho it’s easy to overdo it. A little goes a long way you’ll have to experiment with your local Clay dirt. If you live in a desert, it’s likely all around you.

How to preserve quality/terpenes when growing outdoors in summer heat?

Growing in the desert southwest present different challenges. It’s been 100° here most summer and the ladies seem to take it like champions. Some of my flowers are getting sticky now snd everything is growing fine but it’s still in the 90°’s. Is there anything that can be done to help preserve the quality while they grow flowers make trichomes in the desert heat ?

Backyard boogie

My outdoor indica’s are in week 4 the hybrids in week 2-3 and the sativas in the first week of flower even though they all popped as seeds the same week of May. Some are getting sticky others just getting started,I hope the weather holds and first frost is late. Any grower have tips on preserving the terpenes and and getting good final results when it’s been 100° in the desert here almost every day? Some genetics seem better adapted to my climate and a couple look very hempy. I’m growing from 12 years old seeds in organic soil and supplementing with bloom booster (Big Bud ). One thing I learned to do in the hot desert is add an inch of the local clay dirt to make a semi-permeable layer on top of the growing media , it slow evaporation.
The raccoons stole all my labels so it’s a guess but I’m growing, space ghost , berryizm, pokeberry, lemonwheel and palace kush. I’m pretty sure the short one that finished first is the palace kush but it smells like fruit and berries so who knows . It’s all Backyard Boogie now. 🤙🏼🤟🏼

What organic looks like

The hail storm last week had me really concerned, but these plants are so resilient. I was pleasantly surprised to find mother nature hard at work this morning in my garden ❤️
Things are just now getting frosty on the indicas and the sativa are barely stretched in week 1-2 of their flowering.

Noooo!

The ladies are tougher than I expected the hail took a few water leaves and small branches but no big loss! I’m very thankful.

I only have two hands …

I’m not sure how it happened. I guess I’m part raccoon and I just can’t resist shiny shit. I only have two hands and it’s dumb to use two pocket knives at one time so I usually rotate and carry a different one same with my zippo lighters I can only use one at a time and yo-yo’s. There are some talented people out there who can do the double yo-yo but I’m not one of them somehow ended up with the drawer full of mini yo-yos. They’re fun. They’re engaging an ancient toy that needs no batteries to keep me engaged for hours. I work construction so my knives see duty. They don’t just look there pretty well most of the time they do anyway I don’t think there’s any shame in having a collection of nice things, especially if they get used. I got a new knife coming in the mail , which knife should I use to open the box for my new knife? This is the way.

NTD 2nd try

This Umburry haptic spin coin is a really great fidget. Good for a 5 minute(ish) timer on spin or a rotating clicker. It’s perfectly spin balanced on one of the magnetic indexes but I had to spin ,watch and advance a click and spin and watch again and on till I found the sweet spot. Though only slight flutter at the worst index . The nickel bronze has nice heft. This is in near new condition but Imma give it the pocket patina . This ones getting used .

Shots from the wild

This magnetic flex flashlight holder is the cats meow the bees knees for lighting up my workspace. I’m working at a famous Colorado landmark and the inside of it is stuff full of 13 levels of steel scaffolding and the structure is all steel so I can stick that little bad boy just about anywhere give myself some photons to work with. I’m shining the Emisar D1 with the 4500K 90 CRI LED.

Lab grown ruby , silicon nitride or tungsten carbide , what’s your preference for a spin pivot ?

Some spinning coins for your consideration. The two big ones are Metonboss tungsten with timascus center coin and tungsten carbide bearings . The copper one with the blue anodized titanium core is a Harupa Hound Space Schipp with a silicon nitride bearing. Next is a zirconium spin coin by Metonboss with an oil slick finish and lab grown ruby bearing. Then there’s the little superconductor spinner with nitride pivot , not sure of the maker , and finally a mosaic timascus spinning coin with ruby center. On the plate is a Butterfield machine flat top brass Indian head. These are some of my favorite toys and I’m 50 something. We don’t stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing. Be well y’all.

Unexpectedly good

This is made from MTB chain links and a marble. I had to search my jar for a marble that fit perfectly. Was not expecting it to be such a fun easy fidget top

Oh gosh gotta go.

This is a flat top I made with a vintage marble to play on the job site . If your sound is on , the three horn blasts means evacuation. Turned out to be just a drill.

ZircuTi coin with ruby bearing

Got lucky and scored. This was made by the MetonBoss. It’s about a quarter sized diameter but thick as two It’s easy to get a couple minutes spin time even though it’s tiny. Brilliant three tone mosaic damascus with a lab grown ruby sphere as the pivot bearing. Love the spinning coins stemless spin tops or whatever they’re called.
