Newtown from the 50s & 60s

I just saw this beautiful post on Instagram and wanted to share it here in case it reaches the right people. I don’t live in Newtown, CT, but I’m hoping this helps amplify the search for the people who were sketched as children in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Instagram user is @dbardeen, and the original post mentions artist Geraldine Thomas, who sketched local Newtown children and pets in the park during that era.

If there a more local subreddit where this might reach Newtown residents, please share.

Things do in the greater Danbury area 6/29 through 7/5

We're supposed to have brutal heat for back half of the week. I'll get the info for cooling centers up as soon as the towns post it! Make sure to take extra breaks to cool off and hydrate while you're out having fun. If you're having alcohol as part of the fun, make to drink extra non-alcohol liquid to compensate. Have fun, but be safe!

Post events for the week in comments. Make sure to include day, time, location, cost (if any), and if there are any restrictions like age 21+ and so on.

Have a happy holiday!

Looking for a consistent gym buddy around Danbury

Hey everyone,

I'm a 24-year-old guy living in Danbury and looking for a gym buddy who's serious about staying consistent. Ideally someone nearby who's down to train at least 4 times a week, usually in the afternoons.

My goals are to put on more muscle, keep my running performance and stay consistent

I also enjoy running, my current 2-mile PR is 13:25, and I'm working on improving that while getting bigger.

Would be great if you're fairly athletic, motivated, and looking for someone to keep each other accountable. Doesn't matter if you're stronger or faster than me, just looking for someone who actually shows up. I get super lazy and I end up never going to the gym when I am by myself lol.

If you're interested, shoot me a DM or leave a comment. Thank you!!!

rec leagues / group classes to make friends?

Hi all, I just moved to Newtown (34/m) and am looking for rec leagues or group classes to meet people (art, pottery, etc). I've had a hard time finding anything – the Danbury parks department has a site, but all of the leagues are inactive/expired. Does anyone have suggestions? I'd love to get out there and make some friends!

Danbury Apartment Recs

Looking for any insights about apartments in Danbury. Moving in with my boyfriend and we are looking for a 1 bedroom loft or 2 bedroom for an extra space since we both work at home. is anyone familiar with Willow Grove or the Point at Still River? Interested in hearing some experience about the building quality (do you hear everything?) and with 2 cars if it would be easy to park? Any insights would be helpful as someone moving from Stamford and trying to find apartments not in a downtown area 🤗
