My 600th PFC on pad and also my first PFC on a 14/boss song!

It’s weird to think that just 2 months ago, I was only around 250 PFCs, struggling to PFC stuff like Synchronized Love or Love Is Orange CSP. The stamina and technique you gain just by playing consistently adds up fast, and a lot of the time I didn’t notice it!

I also think this is my new worst PFC at 83 perfects lol

High Resolution DDR Graphic

I am making my own custom DDR mats and was really struggling to find an mat image that wasn't taken on a 2007 disposable camera, and the reddit threads of people asking for a good image only had dead links or other people also looking.

SO, I decided to recreate an image using vectors, that way I could get as high of a resolution as I wanted. Pretty happy with how it turned out considering I'm by no means an expert, and hopefully some of ya'll will find it useful!

Edit: I attached a link to my svg file below if any of you want to edit the actual vectors or isolate certain parts of the image.

Edit 2: I created a couple variations as I'm trying to figure out how I want my navigation buttons laid out, which I added to the drive link. Also did some minor changes on color and positioning on the original but can't change the reddit attached image so you'll have to grab the svg for that.

Good In The Groove PS2 mods?

Hello, I've heard tall tales of modified ISOs containing new song lists on In The Groove for PS2, but my internet searching is for naught.. the only one I've located is apparently a playlist of furry music, which isn't totally my thing. Anyone know any good edits that are worth tracking down?

ETA: I'm aware the tool is called PCKMagic and that I can probably make my own discs this way, but I'm more interested in curated lists from people who've been in the DDR scene much longer than I have. :) Or a well-working port of ITG2 would be cool also.

The “Classic” grouping for flare skill is too big and doesn’t make sense timeframe wise.

It seems strange that the ‘classic’ category has essentially 13 mixes, while the ‘white’ and ‘gold’ category have 3 each. i know there’s less songs per mix in classic, but it still feels strange having songs like aftershock and new york evolved be grouped into the same ‘era’ as butterfly and make it better. It also seems to disproportionately favor playing newer songs for flare skill (which is maybe on purpose). the only other justification would be so that there’s enough 17s and 18s in the category, but isn’t that the point of these new CSP charts?

Also, just in terms of sentimentally what should be considered the ‘classic’ era, for me at least the absolute latest that could be is supernova 2, but more likely the last ‘classic’ era release was Extreme. While it is true that we are farther away from X3 now than X3 was to DDR 1 at its release, DDR was very clearly aware of its own age by the time X1 rolled around, judging by the fact ‘10th anniversary’ was a huge part of the game’s branding, X-special charts were released, and the rating system was changed. Also, the game was much different mechanically at that point, with features like marvelous, shock arrows, and online connectivity. That seems pretty different from the era where you couldn’t even choose speed mods. Even Supernova 1 massively overhauled the game’s aesthetic and raised the difficulty ceiling substantially.

IMO it would make more sense to divvy it up potentially 2 different ways -

  1. Make a new category. Classic is 1stmix-Extreme. Supernova-X3 is its own category (title it ‘space’ or ‘silver’ or something). Other two stay the same

  2. Shift the existing three categories to more evenly distribute mixes. Classic could end at Extreme or SN2, and then X-X3 or the supernova games could be folded into the White category, and then Ace could be folded into the Gold category. This would be a lot harder since it would more drastically affect players’ existing flare skill rank.

I could be totally off base here and it could be that classic is 1/3rd of the songs in the cab, but as a player that tends to really favor classic songs, it kinda sucks that there’s a strategic cost to doing so in terms of flare skill.

Again, It feels odd that attempting to score/clear on New Decade or antimatter trades off with my PFC attempts on Genom Screams flare skill allocation wise. Let me know what your takes on this are, i could just be old man yelling at cloud here. i get that konami definitely wont change this at least until a new mix drops.

Does anyone recognize the autograph on this DDR shirt?

I’m ashamed to say that I got this shirt signed many years ago, by the “creator of DDR,” but I never took the time to find out who that meant. Google searches only turn up the company Konami as the creator. Does anyone recognize this? I got it signed at an expo called E for All in 2007 if that matters.

I just made a lot of contributions to the Z-i-V arcade locator!

im the one that posted all the ones in colombia (MaxwellTTV), i registered most of them after a trip to the coast (don't go to cartagena if you're looking for 4 panel cabs, there aren't any lol)

I've been jumping everytime while playing Pump It Up

I've reccently started getting into ddr/itg/piu and I've been playing at the arcade, but for some reason I thought you had to like, jump up in the air with two feet everytime you click the middle button. like ive been getting inches up into the air and Ive been wondering why pump it up is so hard to play. And now Im just embarassed.. I just don't know why I thought I NEEDED to jump for it to work. The name is a bit misleading

idk I don't know I just wanted to get this out somewhere. I wish I could play ddr and stuff more but my family has no money and I'm hardly allowed to go. And its impossible to get the setup to play at home, and now I find out that the whole time ive been playing it ive been looking like a dork

Trying to get back into playing

There’s an ace machine at a local arcade and I’m trying to regain stamina (I used to play ITG 12-14s like five years ago). Recently I’ve been playing through 14s but 15s seem like my current top level (the video is a 14 from today). Any tips?

The Down/Back Arrow Remains Elusive?

Hey all, first post here, but I've been having a blast playing Stepmania at home. It's my favourite way to work out, and my Occupational Therapist suggested it could be great for some of my medical conditions. I really do love it!

Unfortunately, I've had a recurring problem: it feels like I miss the Down/Back arrow more often than I hit it! I mostly play on Moderate as I'm just in it for the workout and to have fun, and I rarely find anything too difficult, until the Down arrow gets involved and I just... have a 50/50 on whether I'll hit it or not.

I had to take a break for a couple weeks (I usually play twice a week), and now I'm back and it's worse than ever. Even 1-2 difficulty, I find myself missing it all the time. I initially thought it was the pad on my setup (cheapo soft pad because money is tight), but other arrows I hit consistently, and I've seen other folks mention this as an issue with beginners. I've spent the last little while researching what could be wrong, and I'm wondering if folks have any other input or tips.

* I'm thinking of starting at the lowest difficulties again, as boring and humiliating as it is, in order to build better habits. I've seen some folks suggest to hit the Down arrow at an angle, and/or try to use the heel? I have no idea how to get into that habit but I guess starting small makes sense.

* I've also seen people suggest that, when using a soft pad that provides no input/feedback, modding it to do so. Some folks say masking tape, some say cardboard. Do any of you have a suggested material?

Thanks in advance. This game has been very good for my health and wellbeing, and I'm quite sad to be having less fun and more frustration at the moment.

Playing DDR PSX titles on PS2..

Is anyone here successfully running DDR PSX titles on PS2? Currently running PSBBN with OPL and Popstarter. Whenever I try to play 2nd mix, 3rd mix, best hits, etc, the game launches, but when I actually try to start an actual round, training, etc, I can never get past 'now loading,' thus I never make it to the actual song selection screen.

Help with songs loading in ITGMania

Hey all,

I'm fighting with ITG showing the songs I (supposedly) downloaded, it's only showing Club Fantastic Season 1 and Season 2, which aren't showing up in the Songs folder in File Explorer.

Some stats

I'm starting with the DDR packs, which I pulled from the Google Drive link (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-oudSvuynzfncwX1DvhaPyFUoCDb6V3y)

I downloaded ITG from their website for Windows today (https://www.itgmania.com/) and it says SimplyLove v5.8.1 and ITGMania 1.2.1 and 32 songs in 2 Groups, 11 courses.

I downloaded the zip files directly to %appdata%/ITGmania/Songs, and extracted them there as well. I added a folder in the Songs folder to match, so now the Filepath reads "C:\Users\[usernamehere]\AppData\Roaming\ITGmania\Songs\My Favorite Pack"

I've reloaded ITGMania, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've reloaded the songs.... I feel like I'm missing something super obvious but I can't for the life of me figure it out....

What do you guys use to find energy if you don't have the energy to play?

Curious to hear, I work long 8 hour shifts and I can usually squeeze out a couple hours of playtime but sometimes more if I have caffeine in me. But I can't afford energy drinks everyday after work just to play for 2 extra hours.

What do you guys use to get more energy? Coffee, soda, pre workouts, caffeine pills?

Edit : should also mention I sleep 8 hours a day and usually take a nap sometimes afterwork which doesn't help and winds up most of the time me crashing out for 4 hours.
