Netflix? Yeah seem fun...

I had a friend coming over just a friend.

We would watch Netflix at my moms house.

So I started Dark Crystal.

"What is this shit?" My friend asked so I replied with Dark Crystal.

He looked at me. "It looks cheesy.... I rather watch K-pop Demon Hunters" he said.

I wasnt sure to kick him out as an uncultured swine or laugh about it.

I dont like k-pop demonhunters at all... I perfer REAL culture of cinamatics like Dark Crystal.

What is your opinion about my story?

Which home version feels best to you?

I just watched the blu-ray for the first time in a while, and found myself wondering if this HD scan/remaster was presenting the film as it was intended to be seen. There were a number of times where it felt too sharp and too bright in a way that took me out of the world more than I ever recall from watching the VHS on a CRT years ago.

I'd imagine that the original 70mm is the closest to the original/desired artistic vision, but of home viewing options, which feels best to you? Has anyone else had this experience with the blu-ray feeling too hi-def?

I could also believe that my set is calibrated in a way that's not ideal for it.

Opinion on ships

I wanted to create this post because i wanted to rant about the ship topic in this fandom. I personally like all kinds of ship and to be honest, i like also fanfictions with skeksis x human reader. I feel more uncomfy when talking about skeksis x gelfling (Canon or oc), mainly because of the size difference that it's really weird, but i'm not gonna attack anyone about this because i feel like everyone has the right to ship whatever they want, but i draw the line when the characters are NOT adults and consenting. Also, i saw that some people in the fandom calls any ships with the skeksis x human/gelfling as "bestiality" or other dark terms. I feel like it isn't correct because the skeksis aren't animals. Ok, they aren't human, but i feel like that this kind of ships is more a "monster fuck3r" ship at this point, because skeksis have a conscience, will and, i believe in some ways, emotions, like the urru. I've felt bad because i've felt i'm in the wrong, so do you have opinions about this? I saw that the most people in the fandom that writes more adult fanfiction are skeksis x skeksis or human, so i wanted to know better this matter

Workshopping an adventure

Wasn't sure how to tag this

I'm going to try and plan a mini campaign with this beauty. Decided to put this out for advice/encouragement from anyone who's used this book before (I have DM'd before briefly but there's always opportunities to learn), and might come back looking for players when I manage to get something workable, if I don't get any engagement from folks I know IRL lol

Wish me luck 🤣🤣

Ok, I know that there's a rumor that JH Studios happened to recycle a lot of prop pieces and puppets, but I was wondering if the skeksis were recycled into the Halosians from the 2000s TV show Farscape.

They seem to be about the right height and build, and the way they move seems very similar to me.

Both were done by JH studios and the time between Dark Crystal and Farscape was only about 15ish years. (A decade less between Farscape's release and current day.) One of the people who worked on the show even gave a cheeky nod to it being maybe, but that's about it.

This is my favorite movie, and I love all its expanded media/lore, BUT there is one thing that I just cannot forgive or get over.

and that is the retconning and erasure of the coolest skeksis we ever got; the legends version of skeklach. such an amzingingly cool design, a cunning and dangerous antagonist within the antagonist group and someone who could match skeksil in political maneuvering. and worse, we never even got a proper ending for him. and instead of exploring that or getting more about him, we instead turn him into what ultimately feels like a joke character that was basically meant to be the netflix series' fodder.

Legnds of the dark crystal was one of the first glimpses we got into expanded lore after years and I read them so much, primarily cause of how awesome a villain skelach was and i still cant accept that he was just wiped away but new canon.
