Dolphins in the Halifax!

Sunrise Park this morning around 8am. Heard a lot of splashing and something large moving just below the surface. Took out my phone thinking it was a manatee— bigger surprise! A pod of dolphins.

BURGER KING

This is gonna sound like a wild ask 🤣. Who knows which Burger King in Daytona is the best? I feel like the one on speedway looks dirty. Idk about the other ones.

I friggin LOVE Burger King and usually only get it when I’m out of town but their marketing is 100% working for me 😭

Daytona Beach Discord: Gaming, Hobbies, Meetups & Local Friends

The server has been a little quiet lately, so I’m trying to wake it back up and get some new energy in there.

We’ve built a pretty solid local community over time with people into all kinds of stuff: gaming, anime, art, music, photography, cars, plants, animals, fitness, tech, random deep conversations, and honestly just hanging out with other people nearby who share similar interests.

Most of us are local and have ended up becoming friends through the server. We’ve done meetups for food, gaming nights, bars, beach hangs, concerts, and random adventures around Daytona and nearby areas.

If you’re looking to meet more local people, make friends, find gaming groups, or just have a place to vibe and talk about your interests, come hang out.

Lurkers welcome too.

Daytona Beach Area Housing Market Update – April 2026

Hey everyone — I'm a licensed real estate professional here in Central Florida, and I wanted to share the latest housing market stats for the Daytona Beach area, including Deltona and Ormond Beach, in case you're thinking of relocating, investing, or just keeping an eye on trends.

I pull this data directly from a program called Sunstats, so while I use AI to help format the post, the data and insights are my own — this is not an AI generated report.

Real estate data is typically released about a month behind to ensure it's accurate and complete. Here's what the Daytona Beach area market looked like for April 2026:

🏡 1,789 new listings came onto the market this month

✍️ 1,554 homes went under contract

✅ 1,299 homes sold

⏳ Median days on market: 85 (This reflects the time from when a home went live to when it closed — down 5.6% from 90 days in April 2025)

💵 Median selling price: $349,900 (up 1.4% from $345,000 in April 2025)

📦 Months of supply: 5.2 months (down 23.5% from 6.8 months in April 2025)

A quick explainer on months of supply: Months of supply measures how long it would take to sell all current homes on the market at the current pace of sales. The general benchmarks are:

🔴 Under 6 months — Seller's market.

⚖️ 6–7 months — Neutral market.

🟢 Above 7 months — Buyer's market.

These numbers include all property types—single-family homes, condos, and townhomes.

📍 If you'd like to see a breakdown for a specific zip code, city, or just want to compare condos vs. single-family homes, I'm happy to send over the info—just reply here or send a quick DM. No sales pitch—just helpful data from someone who lives and works in the area.

Vacation weather

I’m taking a trip to Daytona Beach from May 30th to June 6th and my partner is discouraged seeing the cloudy and rainy forecast. I’ve read that the morning may be sunny leading into afternoon clouds but wanted to reach out to any locals and see if they can reassure my partner and I that there will be some beach/pool weather during our trip
Thanks

Little Chapel by The Sea?

Thirty-plus years ago, I got to go on a summer vacation trip to the Daytona Beach area. Something I remember seeing there was a church called the Little Chapel by The Sea. At least, that's what I think the name was. It could have been different, but it was on that main road by the beach. It could have been in Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, Ormond Beach, or any of those municipalities in the area.

The sign almost had that 50s tourist attraction look to it, and it may have been a drive-in church. I didn't get to attend services, so I don't know what it looked like once you got into the entrance.

I was in the area again for the job I had at the time around 20 years ago, and it appeared to still be there. Is it still there now? I can almost imagine them getting an almost pestilential number of phone calls and visits from real estate developers hoping to buy the property.

Beach trip advice/ dealing with boyfriends friends 😭

Okay, so my boyfriend and his friends decided to plan a beach trip. Originally, they told my boyfriend and I that we were going to Destin and that we could help plan it. But as my boyfriend and I started finding places and sending them over, they just wouldn’t respond.
Then, a few weeks later, I guess they talked to the other people going on the trip and changed the location to Daytona. They still didn’t let us help plan, and I was stressed because I’ve been to Destin many times before, feel comfortable there, and know my way around. Personally, I just felt safer and more comfortable going there.
Instead, they started getting frustrated with me for bringing up concerns, even though I just called them out for not including us in the conversations they were having with the other people. There are like 10 of us going—possibly more—so I just thought that was a bit unfair. Mind you, I’m 18 and the guy who planned the trip is 20.
Anyway, a few days ago, I saw on the news that a lady just died in Daytona, so I sent the article to my boyfriend and one of the guys going. His response was, "It’s a beach. It happens. That’s the cycle of life." I felt like that was a wild initial response to finding out someone died, and they got annoyed with me again, when I was genuinely just trying to point out the possible dangers of the area. Plus, there was recently a teen takeover there, and a lot of other safety issues have happened recently. If you do any research on it, you don't see a lot of great things about Daytona right now, and that genuinely concerns me.
On top of that, the beach house they picked only has one shower, which I just don’t think is realistic for 10+ people. At one point, I realized I wasn't going to change their minds about the city, so I accepted it and asked if we could at least look at a different house in Daytona. I told them, "Hey, somebody booked the house we're looking at for one of the days we're supposed to be there." Also, my boyfriend and I start college classes on Monday August 10th, and it would be really great if we didn’t get back on the 9th. But they booked that original place anyway instead of listening to the scheduling conflict. So now, we’re going to get back the night before we start our semester.
They keep saying I’m just trying to start drama, but I’m genuinely just concerned about the logistics and safety of this trip to begin with. The majority of the time I try to say something, it’s to help with planning—like pointing out the house was double-booked or bringing up safety concerns—but it keeps getting flipped back on me.
At this point, I obviously can’t change their minds about the trip details, so I need some advice on two things:
1. How can I handle this communication barrier with the group so my logistical and safety concerns stop being dismissed as "starting stuff"?
2. For anyone who has been to Daytona, do you have any recommendations for things to do or areas to stick to that are safer and away from the chaotic parts of the main beach? I want to make the best of this, but I'm really worried the trip is going to be a disaster.

I have looked in to some things to do around there, but if anyone else has any recommendations, that would be nice

ISO a reliable house/office cleaner

I'm looking for a reliable cleaning person for both my home in South Daytona and my wife's office in Daytona. Not interested in services who have their own staff or utilize subcontractors--to much of a revolving door. The office would be weekly after business hours or on the weekend, and my home would be bi-weekly on any weekday. References required of course. Thanks

Anyone have 600 North (Plaza Nightclub) Photos Post Abandonment

Wondering if anyone has photos of the abandoned 600 North Nightclub to share. When we stayed at the Plaza in 2017 a worker let me go in and look at the old nightclub. They still had the penny epoxy bar top and everything in there, like it got shuttered in place circa 2003. Figured some ex-employee or urban explorer might have some photos to share, I wish I would of had my phone. Still had the old TV Wall and everything in there. Thank You!

Cigar Bars and Beach

Family and I are coming down for a week. The wife and I wanna break away from the grandkids and visit a cigar bar or two. We would love recommendations.

In addition ive been told cigars on the beach are legal since there is no filter. Is this true?

International Festival today

Photos from yesterday - a lot of fun and nice cool breeze on Manatee Island. Great music, food, people, and spontaneous dancing… a bit of a walk from the free parking but absolutely worth it!

Daytona Flea and Farmers Market--The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. . .

Your opinions? To me the MAGA store is the most odious of the vendors, but there are some really good spots, good food, and good bargains.
