How effective is a sword play style with Tankpool?
Has anyone tried this out in ranked before? Hela swords over the pistols and sword ult over gun ult. If this is effective what would the upgrade order be?

Yo why tf are the games so fast nowadays? I'm tryna start off w gambit then switch to hela, but i stg the round is about to end by the time i get 4 upgrades. anyone else having this issue?
Like just make it better for unupgraed
Genuinely not trying to start anything here, and I'll concede the first point up front: yeah, this game can be arbitrary sometimes. Nobody's arguing otherwise.
But I want to push back on where this conversation has landed. Do we honestly believe it's an accident that The Big Test requires dashes? That doesn't read like an oversight to me — it reads like a deliberate cost attached to a deliberate payoff. Final Exam brings the most value on the board, and the dash requirement is the price of admission for it. If it were free, it wouldn't be a decision.
My honest read on why this keeps getting relitigated: a lot of the folks holding the other line are OG-release players who got very comfortable cheesing with VGDP back when Ban Hammer was busted. And that made total sense at the time — I'm not knocking anyone for playing the strongest option in front of them. But the conditions that made it correct aren't the conditions we're in now, and the newer players coming up are absorbing it as received wisdom because it's coming from the people they trust most.
When I actually read through the arguments in this thread, ~99% of them reduce to two scenarios: Ban Hammer on the backline, or holding for a Pun ult.
- IW and CnD in the fight? Ban Hammer.
- Pun might ult mid-teamfight? Great? now you've held it for two? 😂
Both are real situations. Neither is the default state of a match. Building your entire approach around the exception is how you end up with a habit that only cashes out some of the time, and how you end up teaching that habit to people who don't yet have the reps to know when it doesn't apply.
43% WR on VGDP? Thats you guys lmao not the hela team up giving you issues
Is this just someone trying to shift the blame to me? I felt I did very well that game. I did 11K more heals (plus most heals in the game), more kills, more assists, more final hits, more damage, less deaths.
Is this someone trying to shift blame onto me? Been trying to practice with support pool.
Sometimes you ping to gather, to attack with bonus health, no one comes lol
Early game no one lets you jump on them for instant ult.
No time to upgrade your skills when everyone constantly takes fire at the front line, not using cover to reload
When characters like Starlord Ult, everyone scrambles, reducing your healing from Ult and increasing difficulty to Jackpot.
The lower healing before Jackpot itself when other healer just forces ult or gets melted through it

What do you guys think?
Healpool has been consistently D tier since his inception. His upgraded neutral is good, his gameplay is fun, and I've got almost 85 hours on him across multiple seasons.
His problem is twofold. Lack of utility (outside of upgraded heal circle damage boost) and tragically bad ult.
Now ideally, part of his utility is that you get your ults faster than any other support, so you can fire them off frequently. But because of the extended cooldown that has not been the reality I've noticed. Any game where I have a decent second support, they are getting their ult as fast and as often as I am.
The only time the quick ult helps is at the start of round, which has the best use case in early pushes in the third/fourth round of a comp game. That is helpful, but it's too niche to justify being his ults only good quality.
Now in my humble, personal opinion, I do not believe that his ult needs to do more healing. Instead, I would argue it needs more range.
Both deadpool ults have an 8 meter radius. Deadpool's dash goes 12m. Do you see the problem? Even if you're lucky enough to have a team that's clustered around you, one missed dash takes you out of range of everyone you're trying to help.
Luna snow's ult is a 10m radius, already covering more ground. Not only that, she cannot be stunned during it (unlike deadpool) and does more than double the healing even a fully upgraded sword deadpool ult can put out. 250hp/s vs 120/s.
Now you might not think that's so bad, because you can combine deadpool in your area, pushing the total healing in that circle to 190/s. Which hey, it's not quite Luna, but it's still better than Mantis.
But as I said, Deadpool can still be stunned. Deadpool in your area is cancelled by any stun, instantly. One white fox is all it takes to reduce your healing by 30% instantly. On top of that, DIYA is 6m to the ults 8, so there are still going to be people not getting the full benefit.
Now you might say that this is reasonable balance. Luna is strong, but she can't do anything else in her ult. Can't attack, can't freeze.
Mantis can. And Mantis ult has a 15m radius! It's almost twice the size of deadpool's, and it does more healing, netting you 150hp/s! And while she can be stunned, the effectiveness of her ult does not rely on her not being stunned.
A small but relevant reason why I think mantis' radius is 50% bigger than Luna's (aside from healing numbers) is because Luna's camera zooms out. She can keep a better eye on her team as she ults, both in front and behind her. Mantis, being able to attack, needs a tighter camera to aim, so her ult has to be bigger to catch those she can't keep an eye on. Do you see where I'm going with this?
Deadpool is a combo based character with high mobility. That's what makes him so fun. I feel the ult should reflect his strengths instead of punishing him for them.
If I were in charge of buffing him, I'd want to see three major changes. The first is buffing the radius of both ults to 12m. The second is that during both ults, his DIYA temporarily expands to that same 12m. And in addition, during his sword ult, the heal effects from landing sword strikes and dashes would also have a 12m radius.
This would give him more leeway to move around, give huge benefits to utilising his kit during his ultimate, and make it easier to work with his team instead of using the ult selfishly or only really being able to benefit one person who you choose to shadow.
I don't think the heal amounts need to be adjusted, only factored in to the feel of the ultimate, especially compared to the others in the category.
But I'm curious, what do y'all think? How would you make his ults more viable?
I have been playing duelistpool in ranked (when I can, but I flex the role as needed) but I genuinely feel like he has more of an impact when you get his upgrades online. This is coming from a primarily tankpool player.
It just feels like you can apply so much more pressure so much sooner. I normally go tankpool but last night I locked duelpool specifically (I got tired of getting negative DPS every match) but that whole night was back to back wins just putting up numbers. I went from gold 1 to plat 2 last night just playing him.
Maybe my aim is just poopie but I can't seem to get that same pressure on tankpool, I can get value by existing where I'm not wanted and forcing a team to turn around but duelpool I can consistently get picks. Are there any tips for tankpool that maybe I'm missing?
I tend to flank deep on tankpool and poke at the backline from off angles, try not to die often, pressure the backline when I hit the ban hammer ult and get a pick, I bubble to cut off supports from their tanks. Iunno. I think they are both solid but duelist just feels more fun and more of a threat.
hi, i'm a healpool main but there are some things pertaining to his ult that i'm still curious about! im a lord dp with about 25 hours on healpool, so i wouldn't say i'm a terrible healpool player, but i also just started playing rivals last month so forgive me if i'm asking ab things that have an obvious answer
for context my friend literally hates playing with me because i love playing healpool and she hates him, but this morning she sent a message saying that last night she played comp w a healpool that held his ult for counters and that healpool actually played fine and it felt kinda mean/backhanded a bit but it got me thinking about it
i'm mainly asking these questions bec i was under the impression that healpool's sword ult is more of an ult used to push, but i might be wrong. im aware that his ult can be used to counter other characters, like as in using his gun ult, but that's mostly situational; and also, i thought that since healpool's sword ult healing isn't as good as other supp ult's healing, it isn't the greatest choice to be using it for countering other supp ults?
sorry for the rambling.
I don’t like that I’m almost useless for the first 2 minutes of the game , I don’t like that by the time I can experience full power dead pool .match is almost over so I can never fully enjoy him , I hate that I have to start from 0 in round 2 and I hate that I have to manually open the Damm book to pick upgrades in the middle of the game or have to risk dying by taking a picture in the middle of 3 people just for some xp .
I don’t get it man why can’t we just start with the fully upgraded deadpool. Why do we have to do all this ,it’s so tedious now like his not even op when fully upgraded his just good . If he becomes the best dps in the game after all that I say it’s worth it but he doesn’t ,fully upgraded deadpool is hardely top 10 on dps , second worst support and I have no idea on tank I don’t play tank pool but it sure has hell not number 1
WF kept bashing me, trash-talking in chat, complaining about how I wasn’t healing, trying to get the other players to report me, and was generally just being an asshole just because I was playing DP and couldn’t answer his questions due to being on console.
I’m far from the best Healpool player, but I definitely felt a bit haughty after the match ended considering how I was a decent amount better than them.
If anyone has any tips, I’ll take them! I’m still trying to get him lorded, I currently have somewhere around 11 hours on him.
Just went over a bunch of Tier List videos for season 9.5 in a short time skipping to where they would rank the Deadpool variants at. 90% of them ranks DPSpool: C to D, Healpool: B-D and Tankpool: B-D. (Haven’t really touched marvel rivals this season that much)
My current rank is GM.
As much as I hate seeing my favourite marvel character so low on the tier lists, and as much as I don’t really give a fuck about tier lists as they are highly subjective and opinion based. I just can’t help but think if Deadpool is really that trash, I’ve had games where I would think Deadpool is just utter garbage and times where he is BIS and no middle ground. DPSpool being my main I would rank him A to BIS(Maxed Out) tbh, he has his counters but he is overall a good character and trash at the same time. But since everyone ranks him so low It’s an issue for me running DPSpool because others instantly think it’s a problem due to me running DPSpool after 2 fights asking me to swap off and I always take the blame. Idk, I just wish Deadpool wasn’t such a feast or famine character like BP(more than BP). Wish he was a high skill based character that is balanced and not so dependent on a lot of factors.
What are your thoughts? I currently hold 51% win rate on DPSpool.
No ranked stats yet cause the dps spot gets filled
Idk how to use the team ups for tankpool either, the hela team up seems better for tankpool but I'm not sure.
Seriously, tankpool is completely overshadowed by the hood ( let’s make it clear, am not complaining about the hood, he is balanced ) in every way imaginable, health ? The hood , damage ? The hood, sustainability? The hood , escape option and shield ? The hood ?
His enhance team up with hela is non existent as basically impossible to upgrade both sword and guns twice because it will take for fucking EVER, far longer than most matches can extend to reach that point.
Captain America is has nothing going for him, tickle damage, low survivability, weak shield health that takes an entire day to regenerate and like all tanks and ultimate that takes decades to build up, and it’s saying something that he has no presence at all in ignite tournaments ever since season 9. He cannot annoy anything, let alone secure a kill has his team up do not address his issues at all
Devil D… he is just temu thing , a giant head shot magnet with only 1 mobility move and a small shield on BIG cool down, how on earth is THING so much AOE damage with torch teamup while also being more tankier , mobile than devil dinosaur????
Thor is not in a good spot right now too
Like he the lowest health tank in the game and around a 45% winrate and may give him a little more health would be good
Got a couple of deadpool clips gathered up, hope its enjoyable! My first montage, debating on making more in the future.
In theory I feel that he shouldn’t be that good, but in practice he feels great and somehow better than Hoo but I’m having a hard time figuring out why
He was my savior season 9... My first choice, he felt great, and 9.5 I can't win a single comp game with him. I know he had the damage fall off shadow nerf with the Hela guns... But that can't be it... Wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or if I'm just running into a string of bad luck. I miss my clutch guy.
