Email about Litchfield city CT changing from CT locals to NY locals

The email shows us losing CT channel 3 CBS, 8 ABC, 61 FOX and 30 NBC, but the new list doesn't show the NYC variants(aka 2 CBS, 7 ABC, 5 FOX and 4 NBC). Will we get them? It doesnt show the NYC big 4 networks in the new list. From the email...

CURRENT Local Channels

Station  |  Network  |  Channel

WCCT | CW | 20

WCTX | MNT | 59

WTNH | ABC | 8

WEDH | PBS | 24

WFSB | CBS | 3

WTIC | FOX | 61

WVIT | NBC | 30

NEW Local Channels

Station  |  Network  |  Channel

WPIX | CW | 11

WLNY | IND | 55

WWOR | MNT | 9

WNJU | 47 | TMO

WXTV | UNI | 41

WEDW | PBS | 49

WNET | PBS | 13

WNJN | PBS | 50

I HATE HATE HATE this change. We are so much closer to Hartford than NYC. Will need to look if Spectrum in my area will continue with the CT locals as they have always offered Significantly viewed stations.

Any way to restrict access to the settings menu?

I have a handicapped brother I care for and he has a bad habit of getting into the settings, changing stuff around until the box needs a factory reset, then I have to reinstall his apps and all that every few months. I try telling him not to change anything but he doesn’t listen. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

What if YTTV Had a Dedicated Remote and RSN Package?

Stick with me here..

Hypothetically speaking, let's say that YTTV introduced a dedicated remote for their streaming app as well as an RSN package beginning tomorrow.

With both YTTV and DTVS respectively keeping everything else relatively the same as they are today (price, channel lineup, packages, picture quality, ad-ons, etc.), on a scale from 1-10, how inclined would you be to make the switch from DTVS to YTTV?

Unable to access program “info” screen with 3rd party remotes.

I can access the pictured screen using the Apple TV (stream box) remote by swiping down but I’m not able to access the screen using other 3rd party (non-DirecTV) remotes with the directional down function (the task used to work but suddenly stopped). I understand this is more than like a remote issue but I thought I would at least see if anyone else is having trouble accessing this screen. I am using the direct stream-only app through an Apple TV box. Thanks in advance.

DirecTV Stream Sound Issues

Is anyone else having issues with DirecTV Stream sound fluctuations?

I’ve had this on two different TV’s over the past few days - one using the native Vizio OS app on a new tv and one using an Apple TV 4K Ethernet current gen on a TCL TV.

The sound will either mute or get loud.

World Cup Sports Mix

We have a couple of different sports mix channels, but none are showing both world cup games when there are two on at the same time. Am I missing something?

Showtime

Has anyone heard any rumors of when genre might be able to get Paramount+ w/Showtime as an add-on so I don't have to purpose Paramount+ separately 🤔

You can actually click on it in the on demand and it says they're working on it but it's been like a year so I don't know if they're working on it or they just have that message on there as filler

Gemini is acting psycho tonight for some reason

It's acting like a computer that's out of memory, very slow responding, some buttons on the remote won't do anything, then the program skips all the way to the beginning, to the end, or some random spot. Guide won't hardly scroll either.

Tried resetting, still doing it. Internet tests out fine.

Anyone else?

UPDATE: Changed out the remote batteries and that has helped, but the unit is still acting weird. Last night while watching Apple TV app it just froze and said no network connection, but I quickly changed over to the Apple TV app on my Sony TV (same wifi) and it worked just fine. Even 30 minutes later the Gemini said no connection. Did a restart and everything was fine again. Did a network test and it came back Great!

Then this morning every time I would hit the pause/play button the screen would just go black. I had to hit Home and go back and forth a few times and then it was normal again.

Free Disney+

I learned something new yesterday...

My friend pays for his Disney+ monthly for the ad tier, I get Disney+ free from Directv Stream. We watched a show "in sync" for 1 hour. I had more than double the commericals he had, mine would say 120 seconds... his would say 30 seconds. He would have to pause and wait for me to catch up. This wasn't just a couple commerical breaks, this was every commerical break during the entire hour show. :/

So FREE just means more commericals to pay for the FREE ?

I [75M] need help. I want to order a Genre Pack. I previously had a Signature Package which used a Gemini Device. I no longer have the remote that comes with the tv. Will the Gemini Air Remote connect to my television without the original remote?

Is there a purchase option for the Gemini Air through Directv?

Does anyone know if you can purchase a Gemini Air through Directv. If so, how can you get it?

It's sad that the Gemini device runs DirecTV Stream worse than an Android or Roku device running the DTV Stream App.

This device is literally built to run DirecTV Stream... But it lags, apps are sluggish as hell... It's ridiculous. My Roku TV and my Amazon Fire TV 4K Max run the DTV Stream App and every other app faster than the Gemini devices does.

What's your strategy after your 2 year promo is about to expire?

My two year promo for the Choice package expires in July and my charges went up from $107 to $181. Its not due until July 11 but curious to know what you all do to get that balance closer to $107? I've seen people mention the Retention dept or signing up with another email.

I like the service but don't wanna pay the entire $181.

Confirming pros/cons and differences between dish satellite DTV and Stream

Previous owners put dtv satellite on my roof, but have never activated dtv service. I need to get dtv to one TV in the living room (that also has a coax cable), and two other TVs in two different rooms (that have no coax or ethernet cable).

I have strong 1gig wifi throughout the entire house with no datacap. So I know I can easily go the stream route with gemini devices or the traditional satellite route with a gemini air for the other TVs that have no coax cable available.

Since pricing is close (about $10/month difference in streaming's favor, not counting first month $10/off promo plus additional $50-$60 activation fee for satellite), I'm trying to find the few material differences between stream and satellite. As best as I can tell based on the comparison pages on dtv's webiste and my own research here on reddit, these are the small pros/cons/differences. Please let me know what you think I've missed or gotten wrong:

  • Satellite has 200hrs of physical DVR streaming that never expires vs unlimited cloud streaming that expires after 9 months
  • Stream limits the total amount of commercials you can ff through on recordings (true?)
  • Some channels are not available on streaming, not sure which ones though, and they're apparently mostly garbage besides the music choice channels
  • Satellite lets you directly jump to channel (by entering channel number on remote); stream doesn't unless you purchase an osprey box
  • Stream lets you watch everything on mobile, including local channels (can you do this with regular dtv?)
  • Satellite image quality more compressed and likely not as good as 4k streaming (Maybe? Lots of debate about which has the better quality)
  • With satellite you don't lose live TV and recording access if your internet goes down
  • With stream, any temporary internet slowdown will introduce lag/buffering delays. With satellite, extreme weather will impact signal quality (but you can always jump over to internet stream if that happens).
  • Satellite has snappier UI response for the feed: fast scrolling, ability to go back to the previous channel with the push of a button, push button record

Channel 4486, "History and Warfare"

Yesterday afternoon and again this morning, I attempted to watch channel 4486 History and Warfare.

It's basically a black screen. Sometimes it's a blue "we'll be back shortly" screen then back to black after a few seconds.

The guide is correct and current, it's just a matter of viewing the programming.

Anyone else?

Thank you.

Broken Feature

No live sports at 8:45pm on a Saturday night? Is this feature broken? AI have the MLB package and don’t see a single game listed right now and there are live games on right now.
