We’ve noticed over the last 3-4 weeks that specifically CBS, Fox, and ABC are ridiculously quiet compared to other channels. Normally we are fine putting the TV at 28-30 volume, but we’ve had to crank these up to almost 70.

Anyone else noticing these channels being really quiet?

With the whole situation around beef, I started doing some research on local beef sourcing and I remembered that Sam’s Meats exists in Aurora. I grew up here and vaguely remember going there with my parents as a teen once, but I never went on my own as an adult.

I contacted the shop directly and they confirmed their beef is all US-based and is sourced from Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming. The beef is also all grass fed. We went last weekend to check out pricing and honestly, it’s not as expensive as I thought a butcher shop would be. The ground beef was $6.99/lb and other prices on chicken, seafood and pork were all very reasonable. They also had more “wild” meats like boar, bison, yak, duck, rattlesnake, and more. I’ll definitely be back to get more meat now that I’ve gotten a feel of the place, and tasted how good the beef I bought was.

For a woman obsessed with religion, she should take a moment to reflect on God’s opinion on vanity. Granted I haven’t been to church in over 15 years, but I remember some hefty lessons on being vain and the difference between vanity and self-care. Her behavior surrounding Maxwell’s appearance is painful - all so she can have nice wedding pictures.

Two weeks in a row we’ve gone to the Walmart on Chambers & Parker for some grocery savings, and all I have to say is make sure you’re checking dates. They don’t FIFO (first in, first out) their products, especially perishables. I got caught slipping on some probiotic drinks last week and got some that were expired. Today, those same drinks are still in the end cap and they are all expired. I also noticed dates of cottage cheese all mixed up with August & September dates underneath October dates. We found some meat that was expired on the shelf, too.

You definitely save some money at Walmart, but check all of your stuff before putting it in the cart.

Beware of vacuum-sealed NY strip steaks in green packaging from Australia. I bought them 6 days ago and they were dated until 8/15. When I opened them today to marinate for dinner, both steaks were completely rotten. They smelled horrible and had a slimy texture. I know some sulfur smell is normal for vacuum-sealed meat, but the smell didn’t go away and the texture remained the same after sitting.

I used to be a Food Network junkie (specifically Chopped) but I had stopped watching for probably 5-6 years. I recently started getting back into Food Network and watched newer episodes of Chopped, Flavortown Food Fight, and the Great Food Truck Race. I also attempted BBQ Brawl, but I didn't like it.

One thing I have noticed just with these three shows is the amount of talent recycling. It's like the network held a casting call and when they liked someone, they asked if they wanted to be on 2-3 different shows. I was recently catching up on Flavortown and a chef mentioned she'd been on GGG several times. Another episode of Flavortown had a chef that had been on Chopped and BBQ Brawl. I knew the network always recycled some chefs and they'd randomly reappear as judges, but I don't recall ever seeing so many repeats across multiple shows. Is this the new format for Food Network? Part of the fun was always finding so many different chefs competing on these shows that were working at all levels of the industry.

All I've seen is people roasting Thomas' dad and stepmom, but I feel like the conversation is a lot deeper than everyone is thinking. I agree they are being a bit immature about Thomas inviting his mom to his (emphasis on "his") wedding, including passively threatening not to attend. But also, I kind of get their surprise that Thomas even wants his mom to be there. If his mom truly was that bad and the relationship was completely broken, I can understand why his dad and stepmom would be confused at Thomas seeking out a relationship as an adult. It is his wedding and the invite is not up to them, but the invite and contact they have feeling like a slap in the face to them is pretty understandable.

For example - my sister's ex-husband was physically and mentally abusive to her and their kids and included heavy substance abuse and untreated mental health. When they split, he moved out of state, remarried, and abandoned his kids. He doesn’t pay child support, doesn’t call, has never honored their divorce agreements, etc. At this point in time, the kids don’t want anything to do with him and don't even like talking about him. Now, fast forward 10 years... if they came to the family and said they wanted to see him or wanted him present at a graduation, wedding, or whatever event it may be, we would also be a bit confused, hesitant, and defensive. It's hard to have that history and just welcome them back in with open arms - even if it's what the child wants. Your instinct is still to try and protect them and keep them from getting hurt, and I think that is the reaction we've seen from Thomas' dad and stepmom.

I still think she’s the worst and her behavior and attitude towards Josh is not excusable… however, now that we’ve caught a glimpse at how she was raised, I think we can figure out why Catie is the way she is. The constant disregard for others, the instant and meaningless apologies, the constant feeling that people are disappointed in her, etc. Her asking Josh if their kids could be Lutheran isn’t about being Lutheran, it’s about not disappointing people who have found her disappointing and annoying her whole life.

It’s sad, honestly. The girl needs therapy.

I bought my townhome in late 2019 and I put the extra money I had into some updates - mostly bathrooms, flooring, and paint. I chose Empire Today for laminate, LVP and carpet and I am quite disappointed not only in the quality of the flooring, but the longevity of the work. I had the work done in December 2019.

It’s now 2026 and I have laminate planks separating, laminate finish peeling, carpet edges fraying, and LVP disconnecting. I called Empire in 2024 for a “warranty” service to correct some of the separating laminate in my hallway, and the guy who did it left caulk residue all over the planks that are now stained a different color. Over the last 4-5 months, I noticed the LVP in my master bathroom clicking like it was coming apart, and about two weeks ago my foot caught on a corner and broke the corner off. Gave me a pretty nasty cut, and I noticed that the plank was put over subfloor that needed to be replaced before the flooring was installed.

It’s disappointing because it’s looking like I’m going to have to start budgeting to get new flooring for the second time in 6 years. When I had the floors done, I figured I’d get 15+ years out of the materials. It’s just me and my wife in the house and a 9lb cat, so the floors do not have excessive daily wear and tear. Despite the edge fraying of the carpet, that’s maintained its quality the best out of the three materials.

Anyone else have these issues with Empire Today? Is there anything you can do this far out from the job?

I managed to score tickets for Coors Field in August, but I’m just about a month out from this game and I still don’t have any of my ticket info. I know vaguely which sections I might be sitting in and that I’ll get more info “later,” but how long does it take to get seating assignments?

After last night, I’m really questioning TLC on this casting choice. I get they want people who will create drama but Catie’s behavior is becoming borderline sexual assault and it’s not cool.

It’s already not talked about enough that men can be (and are) victims of sexual assault and harassment. Catie was basically assaulting these men who were clearly uncomfortable and repeatedly saying no to her. If her kissing problem was truly OCD, she wouldn’t just be trying to kiss people who aren’t her fiancé, despite being told no. If a man was doing that in a bar to a bunch of women, the police would have been called.
And this is with her being filmed by a TV crew with trusted people around her. I can’t imagine what she was like in Europe or what she’d been like in Portland without cameras around. Catie is just a predator.

After living in Aurora for basically my whole life and not going to any previous Aurora Fest’s, I decided to check it out yesterday. It’s actually pretty fun! The drone show was a little short but it was really cool - better than other ones I’ve seen.

My only real criticism, not that anyone from the city reads this stuff, is the food. I appreciated the food truck area but there were very little “real” meals and the ones that did took way too long. We stood in line at a Filipino truck for an hour and the only other 3-4 options with something other than dessert & drinks all had long lines. I think the idea was to eat at multiple spots and sample, but it’s hard when 85% of the options are drinks & desserts. Not to mention the items weren’t cheap - we spent just shy of $50 at the truck we picked. I’d try to expand on options and offer more “real” food, not just snacks.

Anyone have any experience dealing with Instant Offer Furniture? I am looking to get rid of my dining room set and came across them, seeing that they will pickup if you accept their offer. It seems like a pretty good deal, I was just wondering if anyone has used them before.

I noticed in the last week or so that a sign has gone up for a new Best Buy location at City Center off Alameda & 225. Does anyone know if this is going to be in addition to the existing Best Buy at Mississippi & 225 or is it replacing that location?

If the new location is replacing the existing, I imagine it has something to do with the consistent homeless camp that’s always setup at the Mississippi on/off ramps. Can’t be good for business. Not only that, the Best Buy at Southlands closed so I wouldn’t think they’d open a new one just 2-3 miles apart.
