Need Pet food? Go to randomactsofpetfood

Hi pet owners of Denver! Just wanted to let the dedicated Reddit users who struggle with bills know that there is a sub called “random acts of pet food” that you can request $150 worth of donated pet food off of your curated Amazon wishlist every 6 months if you have over 500 karma comment points.

t’s a great way to keep your pets fed up to $150 dollars every 6 months.

Only caveat is that you are ineligible for your own pets if you volunteer (even for free) with animal rescue groups/shelters or donate any of your personal services to them directly.

Anyway, because I foster dogs (not paid), I am ineligible to participate for my own dogs welfare, but if you do not donate or volunteer with animal shelters or rescues you are eligible to post requests and I hope you do.

Please make a pet food only Amazon wishlist, all other requests will be denied immediately. Requests for treats of supplies is not allowed. Our Colorado Pet Pantry does so much, but can only provide so much.

The only requests I’ve seen denied are if you volunteer with animal rescues or shelters. Rescue heads also do not qualify for their own personal dogs.

Approved requests are generally funded within a couple days.

It’s a great resource, so please use it. Not sure why fellow animal helpers can’t use it, but I at least want my fellow struggling Denverites to get help.

How is the trick or treater turnout in Aurora?

My fiance and I recently moved to the highland park area of Aurora and we were wondering how many trick or treaters we should expect? It seems like a very family oriented area and we are hoping we get some as our last place we didn't get a single one. I'm trying to convince her that it is worth it to decorate nicely for the holiday but she is hesitant.

Need mechanic help. Broke down and can't figure out what the issue is.

Hi everyone i am currently living in my car and it stopped running. I was told it was the fuel pump so I spent the last of my cash on it but it still won't start. Are there any mechanics in Denver/Aurora area that are willing to come help me at least diagnose the problem?

Has anyone ever *actually* gotten pulled over for expired tags/plates?

Ever since I started driving here, I've seen probably 100 cars with expired temp plates. Not expired by a couple days either, expired by up to multiple years. (I've seen one with plates from 2021!). The process for trying to register a car is absurd, and due to a certain check engine light code (Yes I read it 🤦‍♂️), I'm just not able to pass emissions unless I pay an outrageous fee to get it fixed. Is it even worth bothering to try and register the car at this point? Has anyone ever actually been pulled over for something like this. Because it seems like extremely old tags are very, very common.

Huge 2-Weekend Estate Sale in Foxfield – Antiques, Lalique, Vintage Toys, Tools, Furniture, Sewing, Clothing + Packed Barn

We’re opening this Friday in Foxfield, CO, near Parker Rd & Arapahoe Rd, and this is one of those estates where there is honestly too much stuff for one weekend.

Friday–Sunday, August 21–23
Saturday–Sunday, August 29–30

The home and attached garage are packed, plus there is a separate barn full of furniture, hardware, tools, project pieces and things we are still uncovering.

Some of the highlights:

  • Lalique, Lladró, Fenton, Spode, crystal, carnival glass and tons of milk glass
  • Singer Featherweight sewing machine
  • Phenomenal sewing collection with vintage thread, buttons, notions, fabric, patterns and supplies
  • First-edition books plus a large collection of antique and vintage books
  • Vintage cameras and photography equipment
  • Quality furniture from Henredon, Ethan Allen, Pennsylvania House, White Furniture Co., Broyhill and more
  • Circa-1920s walnut bedroom furniture

  • Vintage Christmas décor
  • Huge collection of lamps and lighting
  • Thousands of pieces of clothing, many still new with tags
  • Tons of Denver Broncos apparel and gear
  • Winter boots, handbags, accessories and costume jewelry
  • One vintage wedding dress plus two gorgeous antique dresses
  • Tons of picture frames, vintage prints, artwork and some seriously great frames
  • Vintage purple Vision Ware, cast iron cookware, china and kitchenware
  • Huge basket collection
  • Beauty and personal-care products
  • Bose speaker system and other electronics
  • Craftsman riding mower, push mower, snowblower and edger
  • Craftsman hand tools, power tools and workshop supplies
  • Patio and garden items
  • Mobility equipment including walkers, canes, shower chairs and commode chairs
  • Plus all the normal household stuff you expect at a very full estate sale

There is far more inventory than we can put out at once, so we’ll continue bringing merchandise out as space opens up. The second weekend will not just be leftovers.... there is simply too much here to display everything at the same time.

If you like digging through old estates, vintage collections, tools, toys, sewing stuff, books or just finding weird things you didn’t know you needed, this one should be worth the trip.

Moving to Denver late August for an internship near the airport — need housing advice (budget ~$1,000, open to a commute)

My main question: Should I live close to work (Green Valley Ranch / Gateway quiet, short commute), or is it worth living somewhere livelier like Central Park/Stapleton, RiNo, or another neighborhood and commuting in? I genuinely don’t mind a 30-ish minute commute by train or bus if it means being somewhere with more to do, better vibes, and closer to the city. The A-Line seems key since it connects the airport area to town.

What I’m hoping to hear:

**•**	Best neighborhoods for my budget + commute that are safe and have some life to them (bars, food, walkability, things to do).

**•**	Whether GVR/Gateway is worth it for the easy commute, or too quiet/isolating for a short stay.

**•**	Any tips on finding rooms in shared housing (sites, groups, etc.).

**•**	Anything a newcomer should know, areas to avoid, transit gotchas, etc.

Really open to all suggestions, I don’t have a fixed idea, I just want to make the most of my time here without a car and without blowing my budget. Thanks so much in advance!

Water Filter

Hello - Considering getting a water filter system for the home. Has anyone recently been quoted for any of the Culligan systems? What was the pricing? Or is there any other recommended systems to consider? Thanks!
