Primary Care Practitioner Recs?

My doctor’s office that I’ve been going to for 20 years has been bought out by a corporate overlord that can’t figure out scheduling, allowing patients to access their own records, or even basic communication with fixing the broken updates. I couldn’t even get a straight answer about their current AI usage in patient appointments. I’ve been driving about an hour to see them for a few years now and have never been interested in changing doctors. Until now. If I’m going through this much stress and frustration to just make an appointment or double check last years blood tests, I may as well just find somewhere closer to home.

So, please tell me about your favorite family doctors who are accepting new patients and accept Cigna. Ideally, someone queer friendly, patient with people with anxiety, and doesn’t record appointments to feed into AI for note taking or assisting in diagnosis (which is another thing my current doctor’s office is now doing that I oppose).

What’s happening by Jewell and Abilene?

I just tried driving down Jewell right by the Church and the line of cars down Jewell headed from Sable towards Abilene is WILD. Huge line of cars to get into the parking lot between the church and the Social Security office.

Saskatoon Serviceberry?

Does anyone have Saskatoon serviceberry seeds or suckers they’re trying to part with? Or info on a nursery in the Denver/ Aurora area that has any?

I have a small yard area and when my Ash comes down this fall I’d love to put in a serviceberry, but am having a hard time finding one size appropriate. I don’t want one that would get more than 10-15ft tall. I spoke to the arborist and know that where I’d like to put it wouldn’t be negatively impacted by the Ash tree once it’s removed.

Best case scenario: I can buy seeds or suckers from a person in Denver and see the tree it came from.

Second best case scenario: someone has recently spotted a Saskatoon at a nursery and I can rush over to buy it!

Worst case scenario: I learn Saskatoons already hold a personal grudge against me and I just hadn’t heard the news yet.

Post car wreck soil fix?

A car crashed into my front yard tree today and leaked all of its fluids. My neighbors and I cleaned up the debris as best we could but I’d love any tips on reducing the chemical damage to the soil from the fluids from the car.

I’m part of an HOA and it’s a shared yard between four homes. We love the tree and our yard space and want to help the yard recover. The HOA will definitely not do anything to fix this, since the tree is a tank and mostly unharmed. I’m worried about the squirrels, birds, bugs and microbiome that will be impacted by this. I’ve tried researching but can find no relevant information.

Is there anything I can do to reduce the negative impact of the car fluids left behind? I think this is above compost’s pay grade! I was intending to put in some native plants this fall but now I have no idea if that a lost cause.

Rebel Market Saturday

First, I’m not affiliated with Rebel Marketplace, just a huge fan of their mission to make locally grown food available to everyone.

Tomorrow, Saturday, August 1 from 9-1 they’re holding their marketplace at Del Mar park with food vendors, food trucks, community outreach groups, the Melanated Book Exchange (bring books by authors of color or centering people of color and receive free ones in exchange for), and fresh produce.

It’s also their teacher appreciation, so if you go to their website and verify you’re a teacher you get all sorts of freebies and deals. Even if you’re not a teacher, going to their website can secure you freebies and deals. There’s a DJ where you can make requests, and previous visits have had free face painting for kids and the Denver Zoo came with animals last time.

Which video is this from?

I ALWAYS quote Court saying, ‘without me though? Without me?’ in a very stereotypical teen guy voice. But try as I might, I can’t figure out which video it’s from. And no one I’ve asked has known what I’m talking about.

Please Redditors, please help me find the video.

Evening walks in Sable Ridge

I’m going on evening walks around Sable Ridge, starting at Jewell and Sable. If you’d like to join me for evening walks and make a group out of it, feel free to meet me at the Jewell Elementary school at 6pm this evening with your water. I’d love to get to know my neighbors while getting outside more.

Water Conservation Info

I went to the Water Wise Garden Tour today at the Water Wise Garden by the courthouse on Alameda and Chambers. It got me pretty excited about introducing more native and drought tolerant plants to my yard, and they ended the education by giving us some seeds.

I checked the notoriously hard to navigate activities site and found a few more classes to attend. I’m not affiliated with the city at all, just wanting to spread the word for more info on low water plants. And, rather selfishly, I want to meet more plant nerds (or aspiring plant nerds) who live in the area.
