As a member of r/DollSewing you of course know that dolls are a creative hobby. But do you sometimes feel like in doll spaces the creative aspect is almost drowned out by endless consumerism and hype? I’m guilty of it myself, I know I have to regularly remind myself to not be so focused on just buying, buying, buying new dolls!

This is why I created r/WeGotDollsAtHome,

a community for doll hobbyists with an anti-consumerist bent!

- … don’t talk about recent and upcoming doll releases. Let’s disengage from the hype machine!

- … don’t post "Look at what I bought!"-type posts.

- … do talk about dolls we’ve owned and loved for a while!

- … do show off the things we created ourselves: restyles, reroots, and repaints; repairs and restorations; DIY dolls and doll clothes; photo shoots and dioramas… really, all types of doll creativity!

The moment the month changed, fair weather with blue skies came. Today is also clear and sunny. But from tomorrow, the weather seems to get worse. So, I went to the nearby park with my camera while in the morning. The seasonal flowers should be blooming by now.

As I walked round the park, I came across a tree with small white flowers. It’s the ‘Juugatsu Sakura(October Cherry)’—a cherry tree that blooms in both spring and autumn. It’s true that it’s already October, but it’s a little earlier than usual. As for the flowers I was hoping to see… it was still a bit too early. I’ll have to come back next week.

Today, ‘Misaki-chan’—whom I’d maintained recently—accompanied me. Oshima Misaki-chan is a Friend who first appeared as a member of HGS in 2014. This Misaki-chan is the 2018 version.
