Neighborhood opinions?

Hi all,

I’m 34F, have lived in Jersey City/Hoboken for the past 9 years to help cut costs while working in midtown. I need to move soon and finally taking the plunge out of Jersey. I’m looking at an apartment on Jay St near the A/C/F this week.

I am very unfamiliar with the area and will take some time to walk/explore this weekend, but I would love any thoughts on that neighborhood - mostly curious if it’s a safe area for a single woman who’ll be commuting almost daily.

I’ve gotten mixed opinions from the only two people I know who’ve lived in Brooklyn, but this specific apartment is in my budget and seems wonderful.

Thank you so much in advance!

Anyone have 4 - 6 yellow or gold helmets?

Long shot: my family and I are shooting for a Legends of the Hidden Temple family Halloween costume. We'd love to complete the look by all having yellow or gold helmets, but I can only find them for ~$50 new and that's a bit out of our budget.

Has anyone already done this tried and true group costume and have an extra set of yellow or gold helmets I could buy or borrow? Or, does anyone just happen to have a set of helmets (ones that could even be spray painted gold...?) for any other reason?

Here ends my Hail Mary.

Gap coming to Atlantic Center

Gap, the good one, not crappy gap factory, is coming to Atlantic center where Guitar Center used to be. I'm pretty happy because they closed all the ones in lower manhattan and Brooklyn and turned them into gap factories. I was so sad the one in Bensonhurst turned into a Gap Factory. You had to travel all the way to flatiron for a real Gap.

If anyone wants to be a general manager:

PSA: Parents, do not do this

As a parent, this was deeply distressing to witness. Please do not citibike with your child strapped too low, while wearing flip flops, fiddling with your phone, and forgoing helmets for you and your infant.

Anyone else think Concord Village has way too much surface-level parking?

No disrespect to the lovely people of Concord Village (I love passing by the little dog run you guys have on Jay St), but the land use here is really terrible. The High St subway entrance is practically on the property, yet half of the land here is dedicated for surface-level parking. People walking to the subway from High St & Pearl St have to detour around two parking lots just to get to the entrance.

Do you guys think this area will ever be redeveloped? This area of DTBK also really needs more restaurant/food options.

505 State Street

I am potentially moving into a 1- bd apartment in this building and would like some recent reviews from former and current residents.

What are your pros and cons?

With everything being electric, what is your average monthly utility bill (summer/ winter)?

How is cooking on the induction stove?

Overall thoughts on management and staff team?
