feeling gratitude for being a queen

I’ve been doing drag in Oklahoma City since January 25, 2025! It’s been such a pleasure to be able to perform. I’ve been hosting my first weekly show for the last few months, and it’s been such a humbling and rewarding experience. I’ve been thinking a lot today about how cool it is that I started out doing all of the open talents locally and now I’m hosting one and getting to give those same opportunities to new performers. I love being able to witness so many cool artists coming through and growing in their craft. It’s been about a year and a half in drag and I am super excited to continue in my growth while enjoying the journey.

Me and my recent drag makeup attempt lol

Some good things, some bad things. I hate false eyelashes and need to learn how to wear them omg, but the blue and red is slowly becoming a signature. I like the foundation (not too much contour) but maybe too much highlighter, my face did become a bit pale. I need better eyeliner, and maybe an actual blush, and not just lipstick. Also I need to get a good wig.

Comparison with my (imo) best looks so far at end

Question abt performing for the first time

What was your first show like? Like performing nd whatnot how did you get into the scene/begin your drag career or hobby? Also specifically how did you get over the initial nervousness/actually perform?

What should I change about my makeup to look more like a drag queen?

I love my makeup, I think I look really pretty and I get lots of compliments, however I don’t think it's giving "drag queen" to the t per se if you know what I mean?

Do you have any tips or suggestions on what I can change to make my mug look draggier?

Should I get my ears pierced for doing Drag?

I've found the options of nice clip-on earrings to be rather limited, plus there are quite some pierced earrings that I lowkey wanna wear, but idk what do do when I'm not in drag, idk if earrings would suit me in "normal mode", and I'd kinda have to hide them during healing. Are there any other options or hacks or good shops that I don't know of yet (I'm a baby queen), or should I just short-circuit my brain, let my ADHD-fuelled impulsiveness do the heavy lifting, and go to a piercer?

Do you have pierced ears, or how do you do it?

How do I keep my makeup from rubbing off my clothes after a performance?

Full disclosure: I'm a sweaty queen. It seems whenever I perform, my collar is stained with my makeup and I'm about tired of it.

Is there a way to seal my makeup better? Should I stop using the setting sprays pictured above? Or is the problem with the type of makeup I'm using?

Any reccs or advice are appreciated. I'm just on a tight budget (but please just be nice. I'm just an amateur trying to teach myself how to do drag).

Help with brow coverage popping out?

I have been experimenting with different methods of covering my brows, and I got them to a point where they look pretty good initially. However, it seems that no matter what method I use I end up having little bits pop out after a couple hours? This happened on a night where I was sitting inside an air conditioned theater, not sweating.

Here are the steps I did for this look:
- Alcohol to clean the area
- Elmer’s glue stick, lots of it rubbed back & forth & in circles
- Very small comb to brush brows out at a diagonal
- Licked finger to flatten brows even more
- Lick the glue stick + very thin bit of extra glue to secure down the straggler hairs while glue is still wet
- Clean up the surrounding area with micellar water on a cotton pad
- Dry for 10 minutes
- Glue layer applied at an angle
- Dry for 10 minutes
- Glue layer applied at an angle
- Dry for 10 minutes
- Glue layer applied horizontally outward + inward to fill in gaps
- Clean up with micellar water
- Lots of Coty Airspin powder pressed in with powder puff

Then I went in and did my eye makeup as normal. For this, I used LA Girl Pro Concealer in white as the base for the eyeshadows.

In the past I have tried:
- Kryolan TV Paint Stick + more Coty Airspun as the last steps in brow coverage. That just added unnecessary bulk, didn’t look any more flat than my latest method, and made the eyeshadow more difficult to apply.
- Ben Nye Clown White cream for the last steps in the brow coverage, same issue.
- Clown White cream as eyeshadow base on top of TV Paint Stick, eyeshadow was a mess.

All of these methods have had the same issue as shown in the photo with small spots popping out.

What am I doing wrong?? Do I need to try a different product? Help a diva out!!
