Hi all!

I would be very interested to start an online book club for dramione fics. What I am really missing is someone to share on-line comments while I'm reading but also discuss ideas we found in the fics more at length. Examples of thoughts from recent readings: the unrealistic standards of motherhood of Narcissa in Draco Malfoy's ledger of perceived slights; dynamics of abusive relationships (Limerence, Late night wanderings) and why we like reading about them. Of course most of the time it would be light-hearted chat!

Details:
📐Size: Ideally it would be only a handful of people so we can really share our thoughts and get to know each other. However if there's a large interest we could also have parallel channels for smaller groups reading different fics.

📌Format: I am very open to how we could organise it. We could comment every few chapters or once or twice per fic depending on how long it is. I'm thinking about a discord server so there's also the possibility to voice chat and hide spoilers.

🔞Age: I think age is quite important and we should all be at least 18+ but maybe even better matched (I'm 35 😅).

🔥Themes: unless it becomes a larger group, it would be ideal to have similar tastes. I am into darker stories with broken Draco and Hermione, with some angst but HEA. But I also like lighter, funnier fics with banter and bamf characters. Not a fan of very romantic stuff. I read pretty fast and prefer complete works. But I'm also open to reading different things!

Sorry, English isn't my first language, but I'm looking for a Draco story — family life, with babies (with Hermione), and living a quiet life or not; honestly, I just care about the main couple being together, haha. I can't handle too much angst right now, but I would love to see something well-written with them together facing difficulties and holding onto each other so they don't drown. You understand me

So I am in the dhr community on x. (I don't have other social media accounts).

Normally I read and repost art there or cheer for other authors and their drabbles. But sometimes I write my own drabbles. My problem is, that english is not my native language. Normally it doesn't bother me when I interact via tweets etc. but it bothers me when I write a drabble.

I want the grammar to be correct and I want it to be good because I got a few bad comments in the past.. so I am looking for a beta reader. Someone who will check my grammar and the language but also someone who will give me good advice.

I am not someone who writes very long parts and I am not posting on ao3 (because I am scared of the comments..) So I would be only sending the beta reader sometimes a drabble.

Until now I managed kinda with bad grammar etc. but a month ago, I started to write in my native language and then let "googe translator" translate. But since the Ai drama on X, I don't wanna use a translator anymore. People will think the idea and all my hard work is Ai and I would be devasted. Because every drabble was my own idea and I really put a lot of work into my account on x.

I would be happy with someone who already is or was a beta-reader. I want constructive cirtisim no someone who will tell me "here I corrected your grammar. Just post it.

Hi! I made this Dramione video about eight years ago, and today I came across a post asking for a Beauty and the Beast-inspired fanfic. It immediately reminded me that I had made this edit all those years ago!

I figured this would be the perfect place to share it again. It’s definitely a little nostalgic looking back at one of my older edits, but I still have a soft spot for it.

I’ve gone down the rabbit hole that is Dramione and I really want to bind my own copies. I’ve been on the Amateur Fanfic Binding FB groups waitlist. So in the mean time does anyone know of amazing public typesets?

I started writing my own fanfiction and I think it maybe it for some of you. It is a dark fic, Voldemort wins the war, but there is not real violence between Hermione and Draco. He knows from the beginning on, that he is in love and wants to save her. Both of them are deeply traumatized by the war and everything they have lived through, so it’s sad and heartbreaking, but it is going to be HEA as it is still a WIP. There is no rape or noncon, no violence, he has to do some things to keep her and himself alive but it is not going to traumatize her further. Here is the summary of you are interested :)

(There are explicit descriptions of violence in this story, just not between Hermione and Draco. Generally no rape or noncon though)

Hermione wakes up in a dark cell and knows three things: the war is over and Voldemort won, severeal of her fingers and toes had to be sewn on again and she got beaten up pretty badly.

Hermione needs to navigate in a world that feels so unfamiliar, she barely recognizes wizarding britain anymore. In the eye of the evil, all alone without knowing if her friends are even alive, she needs to find a way out. Needs to escape Voldemort and his plan, to use her as a surrogate for his heir. On this escape she finds unexpected friendships and allies.

Or, Draco Malfoy has been in love with Hermione since before the war and desperately tries to save her by taking every risk there possibly is, while being Voldemorts highest ranking general.

it was only a couple of months ago since I stumbled across >Manacled, read it and fell into the rabbit hole. What a reading experience!

Since then I have been reading Dramione fanfic like a madwoman. I still haven't recovered from manacled. Therefore I am avoiding dark fics at the moment.

Depths over Distance

Absolutely fabulous. Might be my favourite Dramione fic so far. Love them both, love the banter

The Watergaw

That one had all the feels. Loved it. So poignant.

A Hard Row to Hoe

The first part blew me away. The banter! The wit! The characters! The twists! Absolutely top notch. I do admit I did not care for the Evangeline plot line. But the writing is fantastic.

The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy

I loved how this fic felt like one of the original books. It took my right back to the time when I was reading all the books.

Wait and Hope and Beginning an End.

Absolutely fantastic. I loved both of them, probably Beginning and End even more because of the sloooooooow burn.

I do have a copy of DMATMOOBIL but I want to keep it for later. I have heard so much praise about this fic and I just want tio look forward to it a bit longer. I also have Detraquee bookmarked but I am not sure what to expect. Is ist fluffy, funny, plot-driven, character growth or angsty? I also have the Timeless series and the Right and Wrong series but I am also not sure what to expect of these. I try to avoid dark and angsty or fics where they have a toxic or abusive relationship.

How shall I proceed? Do you have any recs, especially for fics in the spririt and writing style of Depths Over Distance and The Watergaw?

I am looking for real character growth, especially for Draco. No insta-saint Draco and if possible also no Lord Malfoy. No Ron or Harry bashing, please because I love them to pieces. Fun and banter is great or fics that have a deep emotional impact without totally gutting me. But nothing that's too sweet and romantic either.

Hi everyone! I’m fresh out of reading Alchemized, and it has officially pushed me down the Dramione rabbit hole.

I’m new to the Dramione fanfic world, but I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, so I’m not new to the HP universe itself. I’d love some recommendations for where to start, especially fics that are really well written and emotionally immersive. writing matters to me!

From my TikTok search I’ve downloaded a few popular ones so far, Green Light, Breath Mints / Battle Scars, Bloody, Slutty, and Pathetic, The Auction, and Isolation. I also read the beginning of Green Light, and I really liked the writing style, so I’m wondering if that’s a good place to start.

I know Manacled is the source material for Alchemised and I definitely plan to read it eventually. I’m just wondering if, as a total beginner, it’s better to start somewhere else first and come back to it later especially since I’ve just finished Alchemized and want to experience Dramione with a fresh headspace.

Basically if you could guide a Dramione beginner, what are the must-reads, and in what order would you suggest reading them?

Has anyone else noticed this? I have seen a number of fics this year with Hermione being treated awful by Draco but it's not tagged as a dark romance. I am genuinely baffled by this. No hate to creators. I respect the right to create whatever stories you like. I'm just noticing and wondering why. Is there a correlation between the current dumpsterfire that is our world, especially here in the States? I have probably come across at least five fics this morning with the general premise that Hermione is degraded by Draco in some way, sometimes with physical violence (and this is adult Draco after the war) and then they go on to have a relationship. I just wanted to have a space to talk about it and the why of it all. I am still rather new to fandom, having only discovered Dramione in 2024. Has this type of story been commonplace in fics for a long time? Thanks for letting me ramble.

I enjoyed all of them but they're not similar to what I'm looking for rn. I also tried reading Remain Nameless and Secrets and Masks and both weren't really for me

i'm lf a fic i read a couple years ago, draco pov, i think a one shot or only a couple chapters, dead dove, hermione was captured and a prisoner at malfoy manor, she gets >!sa'd by lucius and maybe a couple other death eaters (not draco)!< but at the end it turns out >!she'd wanted to get captured and she murders lucius and a bunch of the other death eaters. a lot of blood and violence.!<

I just finished gravitation, the first fic in the risk verse.

Oh my god my hearrttt! I can’t stand seeing these two love birds so broken. I’m ready to dive into the risk reward ratio but please tell me there’s going to be some love and happiness to soothe my aching heart coming up soon! I haven’t felt like this since the crumple series. No body does heart break like Miss Amphetamine (kaleidoscope), she really gets me in that staring at the wall questioning my existence, wondering if I’ll ever be whole again type of crisis.

SCENE 1

Neville: "Um, Professor...?"

Snape: "This had better involve imminent death, Mr. Longbottom, or at least the threat of it."

(Neville is silent. Snape finally glares up from behind his potion’s desk.)

Snape: "Well?"

Neville: "N-not exactly, sir."

(Snape returns to his book. Neville remains standing.)

Snape: "If you intend to expire, endeavor to do so quietly and limit the mess."

Neville: (Shuffling his feet) "Right. Well. I was actually wondering... hypothetically..."

Snape: "I despise hypotheticals."

Neville: "If someone were invited to the Slytherin common room—no, I mean—not the common room—to a, er..."

Snape: "The Inter-House Unity Party is not in the Slytherin common room, Mr. Longbottom."

Neville: (Sounding entirely relieved) "Right. Yes. That."

(Silence stretches. Neville shifts awkwardly and starts to wonder if his professor has forgotten he is there.)

Snape: "Mystifyingly, you have somehow become less coherent."

Neville: "It's just... Slytherin's hosting it, sir."

Snape: "And to think I feared the sea of green decor might prove too subtle."

Neville: "I was thinking about going..."

Snape: "I’m really not interested, Mr. Longbottom."

Neville: "But some Gryffindors might not like it, because... well... the Slytherins. And the war..." (Neville gestures vaguely at history as he trails off)

Snape: "Are you asking me to forbid Slytherin students from attending an event they are hosting?"

Neville: "No! Nothing like that! I just wondered if... maybe... some guidance could be issued? Letting everyone know it's all right for students from other houses to go?"

Snape: "Something more explicit than the title Inter-House Unity Party?"

Neville: "Well... more along the lines of... would people be allowed to get miffed?"

Snape: “Of course they are, parties are pointless, inane things. I’m miffed just thinking about it."

Neville: "No, I mean... specifically at other students, if they choose to, you know...go?"

Snape: (finally lowering his book) "Mr. Longbottom... are you asking whether I possess the authority to prevent Hogwarts students from becoming cross with you for attending a social function?"

Neville: (turning scarlet) “...I might be…"

Snape: (last iota of patience disapparates) "I highly doubt your housemates find your personal social calendar engrossing. I certainly do not."

Neville: “Well, you see, one or two wondered if Death Eaters might…””

Snape: “The event is hosted by fifth years.” 

Neville: “Yeah, but why—”

Snape: “Because fifth years are idiots.” 

Neville: “Someone said their house might be getting something…some kind…of, er, benefit by hosting the unification? 

Snape: (Blank stare) “They are getting a migraine, but in the end will trudge forward, exactly as they already were.” (Returns to his book.) “You can show yourself out.” 

SCENE 2

(Neville shuffles down a corridor and bumps into Hermione.)

Neville: "'Mione... have you heard about the—"

Hermione: "The party? Yes."

Neville: (Still scarlet) "Oh."

Hermione: (stares, then seems to understand) "Neville, if someone tells you they won’t be your friend anymore because you’re nice to someone else, do you really think they value your friendship, or even respect your personhood?”

Neville: "But... the war..?"

Hermione: (Already walking away) "Ended."

Neville: (Yells) "Yeah but they're still Slytherins!"

Hermione: (Calling back around the corner) "Yes, and I’m still a Gryffindor!"

Hey! does anyone have the fic ‘bound by what we never chose’ by alimariereads?? I believe that’s the name and writer based on my Google history from long ago. The only thing I have to go on is a small piece of the summary in which Hermione is walking through the corridors at hogwarts and that’s it I’m afraid. I had it in my read later section but it was deleted before I could. I’m not sure if it was complete or not. Thanks in advance.

Hi! I can’t remember the name of this fic and I’m hoping someone will know the title or have it downloaded.
I don’t remember much but I believe Voldemort told Lucius to take Hermione in as his daughter so they can use her as a tool. He couldn’t stand her until she saved his life. I think she took a curse for him. He then grew to love her as an actual daughter and was weary on how close Draco seemed to be with her.
I do have a bit of one chapter, I took a screenshot of it but not the name of the fic apparently. I’d appreciate it if someone find it, thanks!

She sniffed and embraced him, shoving recent memories of his kiss in the back of her mind. It was difficult for she wanted so desperately to kiss him there. She wanted to feel his hands on her, and it was the worst disgust and worst pleasure she would ever feel together.
Slowly, they began to dance, close and silently to the violin strings hauntingly playing from the walls.
"Do you see it, Lucius?"
Lucius saw it. His son dancing too comfortably with his daughter. Limbs entangled, hips swaying, lips to a forehead. It was a revolting sight to witness.
Hermione was a tool of the Dark Lord, and he reminded himself of that every day since she saved his life. It was times like he was having then that reminded him that she was not an ordinary mudblood. That realization may certainly cause the death of him, but gratitude grew to love. He loved his daughter
