Chances of landing tech / Dev roles

Hi

I'm am IT engineer based in Sydney, specifically data engineering specialties like Databricks, ETL, data modelling etc

Have a bachelor's degree in computer science plus 14 YoE.

I have been applying to roles advertised on LinkedIn but no bites as I be been saying I need sponsorship and noting down in the text field as needing E3

Is there any chance of even getting interviews when applying remotely? Should I say no need for visa sponsorship on the app

Also do I need a US phone number just so when someone even thinks to reach out I don't like a remote risk?

Any advise appreciated thx

E3 renewalS

How many renewal/new visa ppl have done so far? I know there is no limit, but has anyone worked 20-25 years without any issues?
I’m not planning on applying for GC, just that the job situation in Australia my field is bad.

Anyone have an early Sept appointment in SYD they won't be using?

Long story short: husband is the E-3 and I'm E-3D/S and his employer's external law firm has royally fucked up our I-129 and I-539 applications. They claim they have somehow submitted for premium processing this week (the I-539 was submitted in June) without having a receipt number for me?!

So...now I'm having to travel to Aus but I can't go before my husband receives his I-797A with the 15 business day cut-off for this being 31/08 (he has received his receipt number). I've got an appointment in Sydney on September 21, but that's really when I need to be back in the US by as my current I-9 expires on 27/09.

Moral of the story, never trust lawyers to know what the fuck they're doing, no matter how big the law firm. I was too complacent and thought they had it under control until I started doing my research. I don't know when they would have flagged there was an issue if I hadn't kicked up a stink last week. Now I'm potentially going to have to resign from my job.

Back to square one

Had the crushing news today that the company I was offered a job with are not willing to work with my immigration lawyer and provide the necessary documentation to them.

The HR manager, has pushed back at every request as they refuse to see the e3 visa as being different to the usual work visa. Even after clarification from my immigration lawyer they still refuse. So back to the drawing board.

Any recommendations on job boards or groups to find more jobs other than indeed and Glassdoor.

Long-term E3 visa holder: how to plan for the future?

Not sure if this is the best sub to post this on, but looking to find others who may be in a similar situation or who have some advice to contribute

Myself (45M) and my wife (44F) moved to the US in 2015 with an original expectation that we would only stay for a couple of years. Fast-forward and we’ve now been here for over a decade and reaching a point in our (and our children’s) lives where we really need to make a definitive decision on if our long-term future lies in the US or back in Australia

Up until now, each year we’ve generally pushed this decision off because we enjoyed our life here in the US. We almost moved back during Covid, and more recently at the end of last year due to a redundancy, but both times we ended making the conscious decision to stay on.

However, the redundancy scare was a strong reminder that being on an E3 visa means that our status in the US is inherently temporary and at the will of our employers. This makes committing to be here for the long-term highly problematic, as we rightly acknowledge that things like buying a house, planning for retirement, or even guaranteeing schooling continuity for our kids is a challenge. As we and our kids have gotten older, these have gone from theoretical problems to very tangible ones.

I suppose the question for the group is should we stick it out and continue to navigate our lives on this permanent-but-temporary basis, or ultimately plan to cut the cord and go back to Australia where we can live and plan our lives with more certainty?

e3 in London

Sharing our recent experience in London as an FYI (have British dual citizenship, but my spouse doesn't): got the interview date about 10 days prior, and the experience was very smooth. We're a renewal, albeit shifting from being the dependent on my wife's E3 to being the visa lead: no real questioning (despite this probably being the 8th renewal between my wife and I) and working for a small, niche business. Our passports available for pick up 3 days later (fastest ever). I hope others who qualify to interview in London have a similar experience

Current Sydney Passport Return Time

What's happening with the current return times of passports at the Syd consulate? I've been waiting a week now (5 business days today) and still hasn't flicked over to ISSUED status. 2 years ago my renewal was done in 24 hours...

What has everyone's experience been recently here?
