Hello all, I’m looking to make friends that want to do things in Pasadena area. Been a hard year and looking for a community. Maybe a group that likes to go to concerts or raves and hopefully long weekend travel! Can’t really find anyone on meetup in the topics mentioned above 🥲. Also, I don’t have kids so nothing kid centered, and LOVE FUNNY PEOPLE. Give me all the funny people!
Ok so we’ve ALL been wondering what is happening in that corner business on Townsend diagonally across from The Rock on Yosemite, it feels like they’ve been working on it for eons. And today — my wife (34F) saw some people painting it, pulled over and literally turned her car around so that she could ask them what they were doing in there. According to these people, it is going to be like .. a fancy corner store type thing!? With like wine and snacks and stuff is what the lady said.
How do we feel about this?? I am sort of surprised. I guess I shouldn’t be but do we think another Wine n Eggs/Sip Snack is what this block needs? I could see it being really nice if they can dial in the right balance of affordable good quality lunch / nice things to bring to bbq’s etc but if it’s too expensive / not well curated, couldn’t you see this totally falling flat? Also is it going to have anything that will appeal to these bajillion kids coming by after school, or is that a loss leader to sell to them? And what does it mean for The Rock? Could only be a good thing for them right? Assuming they can get their act together and brew some actual drip coffee. We need successful businesses how can we help these guys out?!
I dropped my ID, credit card, and EBT probably on Yosemite a few days back while whipping my wallet open to get ready to pay the bus fare...

Hello! I just moved to eagle rock about 2 months ago and my in laws are coming to town. Are there any cafes/resturants that aren't a total ghost town. I used to go to one on Colorado Blvd and it was absolutely dead inside. Not a soul for at least an hour. It was almost comical I was very confused where the people were. The bar across the street seemed busy but they aren't really bar people. Also vegan and I don't think there were many vegan options. The food was really good (a little pricey). I want them to like the area but a lot of places I have seen seem slow at the moment.
Sonic rolled into town and now Spectrum is trying to recover with their own deals and fiber offerings as everyone ditches them.
So how's it going so far? Anything you love /hate about either company or the service itself?

Where is everyone taking their infants (under 1 year) for child care while they work? I’m a teacher and everything seems outrageously unaffordable. Curious where people take their kids and how much they’re paying if you don’t mind sharing. TIA!
This might be a long shot but I’m getting desperate. I have unfortunately made the sad decision to part ways with my Russian tortoise. He’s been in my family for a long time but recently I had no choice but to move him in with me in my tiny apartment and it’s just not the life he deserves so I’m making the tough decision to give him to someone else with enough space to give him a good life.
If anyone happens to know anyone looking for a Russian tortoise I’d appreciate if you spread the word.
Previous tortoise experience is a huge plus.

Edit to answer some questions. He’s at least 10 years old. We got him about 10 years ago and someone told us he was young but he’s always been the same size. Not 100% sure on exact age.
He can live in enclosures that are big enough for him to roam around and hide and dig with some kind of substrate as they are natural burrowers.
I mainly feed him dandelion greens and chard and supplement with things like carrots and squash.
I'm an independent cleaner based in Northeast LA. I help with everything from regular upkeep, move-outs and last minute cleaning. No crews, it's always me. If you're in Eagle Rock or nearby you can message me or post here.
To the guy who cleaned up the median across from Pillarhenge I would totally buy you a beer. You probably prevented a t bone at the bottom of Linda Rosa. It was getting hard to see oncoming traffic and 311 is not responding.
