Buy now or wait for leased cars to hit the market

Ok so I'm not sure if its my buyers remorse, but i ordered RWD Model 3 on May 15th. Its 50K after tax and everything. Should i keep the order or go for used 2024 Model 3 AWD Long Range.

Right now there aren't many used ones on market but they are between 45-50K on average for about 40-50k kms on them. But soon enough 2 year leases will end and there will be plenty of them out in dealerships and on tesla pre owned inventory as well, and they might be cheaper than current pricings.

No auto Pliot - HUGE VERY HUUUGE TURN OFF - used AWD would have it.

RWD in Manitobas snow and winter - Manageable but not optimal - AWD better choice

Now 0-100 is 6.2, its not bad but way slower than AWD Dual motor

Warranty is 160K - AWD IS 192K, so if i get used one around 40K kms, i would still get 150K remaining for Warranty

Speaker system is big downgrade from AWD

463KM range for RWD and 500+ for AWD.

Considering all the downsides current RWD have compared to AWD, getting a used one with 40k kms at same price as RWD sounds like a better deal to me.

What do yall suggest?

Sanity check on paid Grizzle EV charger.

In QC you can get $ 600 rebate for EV charger (from an approved list). Grizzle chargers are in that list.

I know that you can get free charger from Grizzle, but I wanted to buy it and get back 3/4 of its cost back via rebate.

My though process:

1). If Club cease to exists within next 3 years, I still own the charger. No need to send it back or buy out.

2). I can skip first two tiers and start from 5 cents/kWh. Having PHEV it will take me a while to reach that level if I have to start with free charger and 3 cents/kWh tier.

3). I want to hardwire the charger. Doing so to a “rental” charger feels counter-intuitive for me.

Math behind:

EV Charger: $ 649.99 + tx – $ 600 (rebate) = $ 147.33 (my initial cost, let’s round it to $ 150)

PHEV battery capacity ~20kW. So, one full charge will earn me 20 * 0.05 = $ 1

Potentially I can break even after 150 days. And if we bake-in “income tax” on those earning, let it be 200 days.

So after 7 months I will own the charger and start regular earnings.

Does it make sense?

United Chargers - original Alpha beta testers

Hello,

If this is not the correct area, hopefully someone can point me to the right direction.

Around 5 years ago, many people (including me) laid out between $600 and $700 for the United Chargers Alpha unit. It was supposed to be supported and have many new (at that time) revolutionary features for an EV charger added via software updates. We were considered beta testers.

After a few years, United Chargers redesigned the Alpha on Grizzl-e platform with just basic dumb charger features. I have inquired to the CEO for several years and he states that they will be releasing an Alpha Pro model with the promised features and replace all of our units.

There is never a timeframe given. We spent exorbitant amounts of money for promises that now goes for $199. Is there anyone that can be recommended to bring attention to this? An EV writer? A charger publication? It’s been 5 years, and while my charger charges my cars, it has none of the features that come standard on so many models now.

Any help would be appreciated and thanks for reading!

Best charger option

We are trading our Prius Prime for a Toyota C-HR. We currently have a 32amp level 2 charger on a dedicated 40amp breaker. It's connected via a 14-50P plug. I purchased a J1772 - Nacs adapter and so I should be good to go.

I've been reading about the various ev-charger programs. Should I be jumping on one of those? What one would you recommended given this situation? We are also in the process of adding solar panels.

Tesla charging station at Fairview Pointe-Claire

Does anyone know if non-Tesla vehicles can charge at the Tesla station at Fairview. Plugshare says Tesla-only but the check-ins seem to have some other vehicles. It doesn’t show up on the Tesla app, so I’m thinking no.

Pion Power App Notifications

Curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue. I don't receive any notifications until I open the app and I'm using the latest android version. Not knowing there's a problem with your charging session until you remember to open the app is not the best.
