Meisners vocals practically disappear on remaster TITL

Just listened to the remaster of Take it to the Limit (another poster’s comments made me look for it.)

WHAT in the bell did they do?!? Randy Meisners vocals MADE that song. You can barely hear him in his signature moments!!!

Who in the world thought this was a good idea? Why?!?

'75 Anaheim Stadium Show

I pretty much bought the One of These Nights remaster for the Anaheim Stadium live show and I've already made my thoughts clear on how the remastered album trashed Take It to The Limit (quick recap, in a song known for Randy Meisner's soaring vocals, why move them back in the mix to the point you can barely hear them?). But I've been enjoying the hell out of the live show and I keep coming back to three things.

- It actually sounds like the band is having fun, which is something I don't always hear in some of the later live releases. Maybe it was the presence of Randy and Bernie. Maybe it was before the cocaine really kicked in. Maybe it was before Henley and Frey's iron fist mandate that they had to sound exactly like the album, which took some spontaneity out of their sound. Maybe it's just want I want to hear, but…

- For my money, the live versions of Outlaw Man and Doolin' Dalton/Desperado Reprise are worth buying the album alone. Granted, I've always loved the Desperado album anyway, but mixing Felder into the live version of Outlaw Man is amazing.

- It has also rekindled my love of Ol' 55. Yes, I know it's Tom Waits cover, but Frey and Henley alternating in the lead, the harmonies with Bernie and Randy in the mix and Felder's live pedal steel just wreck me.

So, altogether an absolutely meaningless post. But if you're on the fence about buying the OOTN remaster, those are my reasons for why it's worth every penny. YMMV

Edit to add: Not related to the above, but …  I also managed to get I Wish You Peace stuck in my head while working on a bathroom sink drain last weekend. It did not bring me peace…

MTV Unplugged Night 2

I stumbled across a very blurry recording of the band performing One of These Nights during the Hell Freezes Over shows. They were dressed in the same outfits and everything - wondering if anyone has seen or is in possession of any other Hell Freezes Over recordings not on the live album. I am shocked this is up and not blocked. I didnt even know there was more to just the concert movie.

Favorite Underrated Songs?

What would you say are some of the Eagles most underrated gems out of all their discography.

For mine I would say

Long Road Out Of Eden, there’s something about that guitar solo that really just gets me and it’s a nice long journey in a way.

King Of Hollywood, probably one of my favorites from The Long Run, Don Henley singing in a deeper tone and the outro Harmonies.

Pretty Maids All In A Row, probably one of my favorite songs from them and maybe my favorite on HC, Joe Walsh’s vocals are like a refreshing mix near the end of the album and the harmonies are the end are perfection.

Nightingale, it’s just a nice rocker that just feels great to listen to and also has some nice harmonies and guitar work.

Saturday Night, not much to say here apart from it’s amazing, has to be atleast top 3 on desperado.

Those Shoes Live (1980 Long Run Tour)

Years ago, I watched a recording of Those Shoes from the 1980 Long Run tour, with Felder and Walsh doing the twin electric talkbox…does this recording exist anywhere?

This is my white whale. Please DM me if not allowed here…
