Trying to create a chosen family

My husband (30sM) and I (late 20sF) moved to the area fairly recently.

Neither of us have good relationships with our families because both sides have done some pretty terrible things to each of us, individually.

We had a solid network from the part of MI we moved from, but we're like 2 hours from there now and the relationships are changing even through they're still important.

We intend to remain in the E.L./Lansing area for the indefinite future since we both have good jobs out here.

I am the one mainly looking for friends since my husband is cool talking with his on Discord, but we're open to couple friends too. I really like music, movies, baking, crafting, farmers markets, cozy video games, the beach, working out, the outdoors, mental health/self care, and a lot more. Feel welcome to reach out if we have things in common.

Chances I'll be ticketed/towed for street parking?

I'm a part-time employee at MSU, and I can't afford their monthly parking passes. I also can't afford to pay to park everyday, and although there are free lots around campus, I'd prefer not to walk 30+ minutes to my shift everyday :/ My idea was to park on one of the side-streets north of campus because then my walk to work would only be ~15 minutes. If I were to park there, what are the chances I'll get ticketed or towed? I know some of them have signs for two-hours only, but are there any spots where I could find refuge from PACE?

Genuine Apartment Recs

Hello,

I am looking for apartments in the east lansing area pending a job at msu in roughly a month. Budget is around $1500 a month (flexible). I look all over and no matter what, every single place has a 2.5 star rating or less and Im genuinely confused about it. These places don’t look run down. Most of the reviews seem old (>3 years) or when management was different.

I have scoured probably 30 different places and two that seem to stand out are NoCa lofts and Timber Lake apartments. Anyone live in these ones within the past year or know someone who does that can speak to the properties and management in general. Please do not play up your experiences. If it was tolerable thats all I want to know.

Have stayed away from anything managed by DTN since the consensus is that they are a terrible management company.

Thanks everyone. I know I’m not the first person to post here about this so I appreciate any help. Relocating from Ann Arbor.

Let's help our neighbors.

This a special exception made to our normal rule of no non Lansing related posts. This has mod approval. As I am sure many have heard by now. The Village in East Lansing, suffered a devastating fire. Forty plus people lost their homes, and everything in them. If you are looking to and can help here are a list of places that are accepting donations, they do not have to be monetary. But some of the things that they are looking for are things like clothes for all genders, both new and gently used, and things like hygiene products. Some places where donations can be made to are the Red Cross and the also the leasing office of Block 36.

Stolen bike from TJ. PSA: no CCTV on their bike rack.

My Felt B12 was stolen from Trader Joes on May 12th. If you see if let me know. I built it myself so it's super obvious that it's mine. Attach some pics of the equipment that I installed.

The unit is modern and includes an in-unit washer and dryer, a private kitchen and bathroom, air conditioning, and access to secure building amenities. What is it?

My dad and I were at The Graduate and while walking to the car on Albert Ave we came across this cube of metal and hadn’t the slightest clue what it’ll ultimately become. Can someone fill me in please?

Adult beginner swim classes

Does anyone know if there are any adult beginner swim classes in the East Lansing, Haslett, Okemos area? MSU lists one but there is no information. This is for a young adult who had learned to swim as a small child but has not swum since, so might have some swimming skills. Thanks.
