Askuris is a genderless egregore born from the beliefs of an ancient Amazigh tribe, ancestrally Tuareg. Their spirit was shaped by the conviction of life after death, of an eternal afterlife, and was split into two entities: the wielder, Askuris, and the weapon, Lella. Together, their bond embodied death and judgement.

In their canon storyline, Askuris (later named Nales) loses part of their power early on and becomes half human. The burden of flesh destabilized them entirely. Adapting to human needs and emotions became a daily battle. Depression took root when their body became a prison instead of a vessel. They stopped caring for it.

Their remaining divinity keeps them near-immortal, but not enough to become the deity they were vowed to be.

This artwork is the version of Askuris that never was. Just concept art, not canon. But I might change my mind because I've grown fond of it!

Synopsis:

The Flood doesn't want to rule Tollis City. He wants to cleanse it. With the city's defenses sabotaged and millions in danger, our heroes must stop a man determined to give the city a fresh start by washing everything away.

A quick piece I did for my world setting r/WorldsofIllyas to test out how I want deities and their emanations or devotees look, with the idea that in this setting intelligent beasts are so commonplace as to be unsurprising.

For the eel's form I was inspired by the legend of Nyami Nyami, a river God or river dragon of the Tonga people of Zimbabwe, shown as a serpent with a fish' head. In my world there are many such equivalents, and this is one of his children, gone to serve a deity as an apprentice to build its divine power. Or perhaps this is a minor deity's vessel to interact with the world.
