the shriek: how?

was at the Uppsala show yesterday, and watching Blixa on stage it finally occurred to me: how do they shriek like that? I can get some of it when inhaling but it isn’t as piercing as I’d like, though to be fair I have to hold back, neighbors. I sound more like lene lovich.

(the show was wonderful, I was in the third row, frizzy haired lady with sparkly silver eyeshadow. so wild being so close, and the venue felt wonderfully intimate. the new bassist has got it down, my word.)

N.U. Unruh, Oslo accident (1983)

During an Einstürzende Neubauten performance at the Slurpen gallery in Oslo in 1983, member N.U. Unruh threw Molotov cocktails into the audience. NRK was filming for the Pan program.

Audience members responded by dismantling the stage and setting instruments and decorations on fire. No serious injuries were reported. The incident was captured on NRK footage. This event involved Unruh specifically using flammable projectiles against the crowd.
