Expatrio Blocked Account: Flywire wants €12,483 for a €12,131 deposit — should I use a direct EUR bank transfer instead?

I need to deposit €12,131 into my Expatrio blocked account.

If I pay through Flywire in my local currency, it ends up costing me the equivalent of around €12,483.

That's roughly €350 more just from the conversion/payment, which seems quite high to me.

There's also an option to send EUR directly, which is €12,151 including a €20 fee.

Is this kind of difference normal with Flywire? Would it generally make more sense to convert the money to EUR myself and use the EUR bank transfer option?

Curious what others did when funding their blocked account.

Expatrio 05 document - urgent help needed

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit confused and hoping someone who's gone through the Expatrio blocked account process can help.

I received an email from Expatrio saying I could find my 05 Account Opening Confirmation / Blocked Account Transfer Details under Blocked Account → My Payments → Documents, and that if the due date expired I could simply renew it.

The problem is that my Documents section is completely empty. There is no 05 document, no Renew button...nothing at all.

Meanwhile, I have already transferred the full amount through Flywire, and the payment is currently still in process, so it hasn't reflected in Expatrio yet.

Has anyone else experienced this?

When is the 05 document usually generated?

Was your Documents section ever completely empty?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
