They may be unnoticeable and forgettable, especially Ishimaru, but here's an appreciation post for these characters

I'm taking about Yamaoka and Satake from the Deimon basketball team, and who could forget Tetsuo Ishimaru from the Deimon track team!

Volume 1 begins with only Hiruma and Kurita on the Deimon Devil Bats. Sena Kobayakawa later joins as 'manager', but they need more players for their first match against the Koigahama Cupids. They recruit a lot of players (Hiruma clever 'persuading' all but one), among them are Yamaoka, Satake, and Ishimaru

They're among the original fill-ins or support players recruited, and even when the Deimon Devil Bats begin to form their actual team one by one as the series progresses, these three characters remain on the Devil Bats until the end. While they don't participate in the Tower of Hell or the Death March like the other characters, their parts on the team are still important, it's just unseen in the manga. Of the three, Ishimaru even develops into the team's second RB and has his moments, albeit forgettable ones

There's posts in the sub about who are your favorite characters, a lot of them are like Hiruma this, Sena, Shin, Agon, Mizumachi, Jumonji, Yukitmsu, Kurita that, etc...

But what about Yamaoka, Satake, and Ishimaru? Where's the love for these characters?! Where are their fans?!! Well, people may not like them, they don't have any fans, or until this post people may not even know who the hell are they, but this post here is to give these characters recognition and appreciation for being on the Deimon football team from the beginning (Volume 1)!! Their crucial roles on the Devil Bats needs to be studied and respected at least once. After this post they can go back to being invisible and forgotten

Finally got the Pop-Up Store wall scroll!! 👔💐

Shin looks like he doesn’t know what to do in his pose (the jacket tho!!), Riku and Sena are just happy to be there, Hiruma is 70% legs, and Agon reeks of arrogance 😂 At least get your suit fitted!!

Anyways, I’m super happy with this scroll. It’s hanging with the rest of my collection now ✨

Hiruma Protects Mamori

Saw this little scene from Eyeshield 21 episode 121 and I found it so adoreable how Hiruma stepped in front of Mamori to protect her from Gao. Side note, but Hiruma's back muscles are defined and dude looked so tall and attractive when he was protecting Mamori. Also found it mad funny how the Ha Ha Bros wanted all that smoke

What level realistically could each of the "Major" (Japanese) players from this series make it to in America? Part 1.

I just wanna look at some of the major players shown throughout the series make it to in America and what it would take for them to get there in terms of "realistic" height and weight gain over there careers. So 3rd year players have to be much closer to the necessary size than 1st year players. Also this is assuming modern day and not the 2000's.

Sena Kobayakawa - 5'1 106lbs 1st year. If Sena doesn't grow another inch and is able to double his bench and add 20lbs he's already going to be a D3 All-American. However if Sena is able to grow to 5'5 150lbs by his 3rd year (which he plays at an elite American HS according to the Manga) he has a real shot at the D1 FBS level just due to his unreal speed and elusiveness. Almost every pound he puts on has to be muscle and he won't be a starter his 1st year but by his JR or SR year he could be a real contributor in the backfield as well as a star return specialist from year 1. After seeing Duece Vaughn make it to the league there's a real shot he could make it to the NFL or atleast the UFL if he doesn't want to go back home and be a Star of the X-League where he would probably make pretty great money considering the bidding war for an NFL caliber player who doesn't have to use one of your import spots.

Ryokan Kurita - 6'5 320lbs 2nd year. If he doesn't change anything he should be able to play for a JuCo team but running a 6.5 40yd dash is terrible, I've seen peewee football lineman faster than that and being 6'5 it makes it a bit tough to keep him at C and being that slow makes him almost useless on defense. Now if he takes his SR year not playing football (don't forget deimon doesn't allow 3rd years to play) and loses 40lbs and drops his 40 time under 6 seconds then he could make it to the D2 level. 6'5 280 running a 5.95 40 he could make it to the D2 level off of size, strength and potential alone. You might see an FCS school throw him an offer but he's still very slow and still probably too tall to play C so he'll have to learn OT or G where he will be expected to be much more mobile and have much better footwork. He's also not THAT strong only benching 350lbs

Gen "Musashi" Takekura - 5'9 170lbs 2nd year. He's a D1 player already. We've never seen him miss and he's hitting from 60yds in game against a live rush. Ideally he's add a bit more strength over the next year or so, so he can get it over the taller rushers in college and still hit from 60 but that's something a college strength staff and coaching can help with

Taro "Monta" Raimon - 5'1 112lbs 1st year. Even if we give him the same growth spurt we hoped for Sena to get and make him 5'5 155lbs he's still not making it in college at that size while running a 5.0 40yd dash. If and only if he can get that down to below a 4.7 (which is a huge increase in speed) and become an elite route runner which he just simply isn't currently he might be able to walk onto a D3 JuCo but he won't play much even at the lowest levels of the sport.

Yoichi Hiruma - 5'9 147lbs 2nd year. At this size he'll struggle to gain much attention especially without a SR year of film but if he grows an inch or two and ends up around 5'10-5'11 running around a 5 second 40 with as smart of a player he is he could receive some D2 interest but he's more likely to accept a spot at a high academic or extremely competitive D3 school. He's another guy who would be best off going the JuCo route.

The other Deimon players have zero shot at playing in the USA.

Most of these guys I'm being relatively generous to but also, there are enough colleges out here that are struggling to field rosters and are just in it for the tuition boost from having extra bodies on campus that ANYONE with an ounce of experience can play for them.

What do y'all consider Agon's Best position?

I know as well as anyone that Agon is a "Utility player" and that they will use him anywhere on the field and I love that and find it super fascinating but where do you think they use him the most?

On defense he makes the Japan National team as a starting Weakside Line Backer, while defense is definitely able to be more versatile Shinryuji probably use him a lot like Isiah Simmons out of Clemson or Jabrill Peppers coming out of Michigan as multifacited players who line up where the defense needs but at the end of the day they were both listed and treated going to the next level as Strong Safety's which is where I feel Agon best fits being able to roam into the box for run defense, match him up with a TE slot receiver (which he's about the size of) in man or stay over the top in cover 2.

On offense, he didn't play for team Japan. This where I'm a little more conflicted on where and how to use him, if you have a guy who's great at everything you have to pick something for him not to do because he can't do it all at once. Having them run something like the Single Wing where (The IRL dragon Fly) might be the best bet so you can allow him to pass run and catch the only issue is every time he throws the ball is one less time that he can catch or run it and one less time Unsie can have the ball. If I were coaching his team in HS I would run the single wing with him their as my Fullback and Unsie as my Tailback. If i was a college coach who had to run something more modern I'd use him primarily in the slot and run lots of jet sweeps, screens and occasionally motion him into the backfield while also having a few wildcat sets for him and running plays like the ones Kansas ran for Jason Bean a few years ago and like what Princeton ran in 2013 with their 3QB set

PS: While doing this I have been rewatching the game between Deimon and Shinriyuji and Ikkyu has Monta in a Straight Jacket. Completely in prison even tho Monta gets a couple of receptions at the end idk if I've ever seen someone so locked up

Edit: Jabrill Peppers from Michigan not Jullius Peppers

Japanese DVD Cover Art: Vol 20-23

In these covers, we get to see the rest of the Deimon vs. Bando match to see who's making it to the Kanto Tournament! Sena reveals his identity, Musashi comes back, and we watch them play through a wind storm. In the anime, we have a large filler arc between this match and the next, where the Devil Bats once again travel to America for more training via a tournament between all countries.

Seibu and Bando, which jerseys are better, manga or anime?

If you watched the ES21 anime, you may have noticed they changed some teams jerseys, or how they appeared from the manga. I made posts about two of them (Naga and Devil Bats)

In the same vein as Shinryuji, the Seibu Wild Gunmen and Bando Spiders also have different jerseys. Idk why they changed them lol. Are you a fan of the manga or anime version?

I like Seibu's uniforms in the manga, looks cool and it actually resembles their logo/mascot...a cactus

As for Bando, I think maybe they changed their jersey because the anime used only Deimon's red one so it would be a kit clash with both primarily red jerseys. The manga is better imo
