I recently posted in the color analysis subreddit, and nearly everyone said I was muted and could not be a winter as I initially thought. I was thinking it might be because I’m olive. Do people assume olive = muted? I was quite surprised to see how many people said I was a summer or autumn.
I think I’m a very muted, cool-leaning olive and I’m struggling to find complexion products that aren’t too saturated. Missha 21 is probably the closest undertone match I’ve found, but it’s just a tiny bit too dark. I’d also really like something with more coverage. Most foundations pull yellow, peach, pink, or orange on me even when the depth is right.
These are the exact same swatches in different lighting. Without flash I look gray/dead. With flash I suddenly look pink. That pretty much sums up why figuring out my undertone and finding a good match has been so difficult.
I really want to try Lisa Eldridge because some of her shades look promising, but I’m in the US and can’t swatch them in person. I have no idea what shade to order. If you’re similarly muted/low chroma, what foundations or concealers work for you? I’d especially love medium to full coverage, but I’ll take any gray-beige secrets you have.

A lot of the new Mac skinfinish colorstruck blushes swatched in natural window light. All are the new formula except for the last three are the original Mac powder blushes :)
I was excited to get my ABH Kiss Theory Lip Balm. When it arrived, however, I was immediately disappointed. The packaging is very skinny and about as long as my index finger. When I twisted it up all the way, the actual amount of product was about 1.5 cm long. I then tried to twist it back down all the way and it didn't go down! Additionally, the product packaging is cheap and light, and the lip product component rattled very slightly any time I shifted the main packaging. Not only that, but the color is shockingly too light for someone as fair as I am. I need a lip liner to make it look more "at home" on my face and not wash me out. It doesn't help that the color is less pigmented than my natural lip color. The gloss also settles into my lip lines, which when paired with the lighter color looks very odd on me. From further away I don't think it's as noticeable, but it's hard for me to tell. Finally, the formula feels a little too thick for me, but if I apply a thin layer the color looks even weirder. Does anyone have any advice on how to make this product work?? Needless to say I'm not buying it again, but I want to make it work while I have it (especially since it was $18!)
I had a ton of Ulta points to use so I picked up the I Need a Cool palette over the Gloom. I swatched the Gloom and there were three matte greens I wouldn't use (two of which are very white based). I really love this in comparison to the ND Glam which was so decidedly cool or warm without any neutral shades. I hit several pans on my beloved I Need a Nude shades that I depotted and use daily (I wanted to do side by side comparison swatches, but I didn't label the shades and don't want to mis-swatch) and wanted to try something new. I love the many transitional browns in this, although I can see criticism of many shades being similar in tone, especially the shimmers. This is a great palette if you're a creature of habit looking for a truly neutral toned palette.
Ever since getting into makeup, I’ve basically watched people with fair skin on TikTok try on products and think “that looks good on them,” only to buy it and have it turn completely orange on me. After about a year of wasting money, I learned that I’m actually olive. I have a yellow/green hue to my skin, but sometimes I lean more yellow and other times I look more grey, which is why I never considered olive as an option for me. I also realized that even products marketed as “cool” can still look peachy. The Kosas blush in euphoria is a perfect example because it looked kinda peachy on me instead of that soft pinky mauve look I've been chasing.

For some context - I got the Lisa Eldridge skin tint the other day and it was SUCH A GOOD MATCH that I wondered how all my other skin tints compared, since they were, and still are, my go-to's in rotation everyday since I think they end up not being too shabby.
So...I was bored and decided to swatch them all today, in case it would be of help to anyone, especially after cracking the code in getting the most color accurate photos I've ever been able to take 💚
Notes about color accuracy in photos:
So, I’m not usually a CT complexion fan but I was always curious about the Instant Look palettes. Someone posted that there was a pricing glitch and I was able to pick up “pretty glowing beauty” for $48 so I thought why not! The photos made it look like a light lilac and mauve color story.
I was pleasantly surprised! The formula on these is very nice (it’s still her talc formula) and I was shocked and how blurred my face was (and still is 12 hours and a dog walk later!) I’m 44 and I can’t remember the last time my under eyes looked this smooth. I know her products often run warm but these are very neutral leaning cool, and really cater to FAIR skin. Like really fair, if you are approaching medium I think this may not show up on you, even though the formula is very buildable. The bronzer is warm, but looking at it in person it’s more of a yellow bronze than an orange. I don’t wear a lot but I used a diffuser brush and I think it looks nice. The name says it all, I feel like a glowing beauty. This is perfect if you’re low contrast or like very natural makeup. It’s a great everyday look!

Hello! I decided to do some side by side lip swatches of the new Mac Holiday Naughty Nude, bare lips no liner in bathroom light near a window. I have fair neutral olive skin but have a “tan” at the moment (I am not wearing foundation in these photos) my closest typical foundation match is Salt NY 13, AF F2, HL 050. I only swatched lips that I would consider concealer lips on me, for example Crème Cup and Honeylove are mid toned on me. I did had swatched of those in another post if you are interested. I’ll share what I shared in the other post, Naughty Nude is ok, but not groundbreaking. It will also not be super nude or concealer lip on you unless you are light medium or darker. Enjoy!
I found this today and I was curious if anyone has used this as color corrector. It’s such a unique shade and I’ve heard the formula is nice. I tried looking up reviews but I wasn’t able to find anything. Has anyone used this corrector?

This is my Lip Liners Collection. Recently found that I'm neutral-cool olive, so thats the reason why some colors don't flatter me, I mean, I really feel that was something wrong with my make-up and didn´t know why.
That said, not every liner fits me, but I'm still posting it, so you can see it.
These photos were taken at night, with my neutral spotlight mirror with no flash. As you can see, with the warm colors my skin subtone changes so bad. I'm fair-light so a lot of lipliners are so dark on me!
