Hi! The shade I currently am is:
Armani shade M2 in the LS skin tint or
Patrick Ta in shade 13
And while I know those are more neutral olive shades, this subreddit is likely to help more people 💕

Combos in the comments because Reddit messed up my comment and formatted it all weird when I tried to edit a typo 😭😭😭

What's your absolute favourite lip stain?

I'm mainly looking for some amazing drugstore or asian beauty recommendations!

And which shades would you rec for someone who is a fair/light muted neutral leaning cool olive?

Am I Olive?

Am I olive or just a nuetral skin tone? I find that most makeup products are either too cool or too warm for me, specifically lip products and face products. My skin looks very different in all kinds of lighting, even including natural lighting. Sometimes I feel I am ghostly pale and other times I feel like I look super yellow. I have read that olive can come off as green or yellow so I am curious on your opinions. I've included indoor pictures and natural lighting ones as well as trying to show my skin looking yellow, a bit pink/red, and also very pale

A BB cream less pink than Missha’s 13? (LE T1.5 perfect shade)

This is such a specific question I know, but I have such few matches in products to go off.

I really love Missha’s perfect cover bb cream, I love the way it looks and lasts on my skin, and its affordability. However, both shades 13 and 21 are too pink on my skin, with 21 being ever so slightly too dark as well.

Does anyone know of a similar K or J beauty bb cream that it slightly less pink? Or even if it’s not a bb cream, I’d be curious about any base products that people who likely match my skin tone like 🤞

For context, Lisa Eldridge’s skin tint in 1.5 is my perfect shade. I am very fair and very neutral and desaturated, and I’ve been told slightly yellow-olive though I’m not sure. Things can be too pink, too orange or too yellow on me very easily. I’ve never been able to get a clear understanding of whether I am more cool or warm.

I’ve trawled through reddit posts, but it can be hard for me to gauge whether I match other’s skin tones from photos.

Photo with my skin for added context. No makeup on, I just have rosacea 🙃

Just Learned I’m Olive-Toned :-o HELP!

I only discovered that I’m olive-toned about three weeks ago, and it’s already completely changed the way I do my makeup. I used to buy warm foundations and get confused as to why my face always looked so orangey. The cool-toned ones were even worse, so I wrote them off completely — I’m not pink, I’m a yellowy gray!!!! It’s confusing because I do look quite warm in incandescent light (picture 1). I included a picture of me in natural light (picture 2) so you can see what I mean in contrast. I think part of the reason I appear olive at all is because I have a semi-rare condition called hEDS that gives me thin, stretchy skin — you can see my veins and blood vessels through my skin, which pull my tone green-grey (Picture 3). Maybe I still don’t understand my skin tone? Am I not cool olive?Pointers appreciated.

If you haven’t gotten your hands on So Elemental from Colourpop yet, I can’t recommend it enough for cooler olive skin. Because I’m pretty fair-skinned, I can’t speak to how this will perform on darker skin tones, but if you get a chance to try it, please let me know! The shades are all SO Y2K. I feel like Britney Spears in this picture!

Anyway, it’s been really nice to find a community of people that share the struggle of buying makeup that works. if you have any recommendations based on the pictures I attached for colors that might work for my skin, hair, and eyes, recommend away! It’s all new to me!

(Edit: after feedback from multiple users, I’m leaning more towards fair-light neutral olive as the descriptor for my skin tone — please also understand this post is for makeup purposes, i.e. finding a foundation and product colors that work well with the appearance of my skin 😊.)

Purito 21 vs Lisa Eldridge T5

I eagerly picked up T1.5 when it was released, but found it too light and a bit too warm for me. (It made me look like an overzealous blood donor).

Purito 21 is a fairly good match for me, so I was hoping to find a similar shade in the LE skin tint. After seeing these swatches, I was hopeful T5 might work.

It’s close, right down to lightening significantly as it dries. T5 is definitely more green — especially wet — but the difference between the shades is very subtle once everything dries down.

Top: Purito 21
Bottom: LE T5

For those that tan warm/golden- what are your best colors?

I've given up trying to get my color season typed because my combo of complexion, hair and eyes just doesn't fit. I tan a very golden yellow, my eyes are a muted grey-green, and my hair a mix of yellowy blonde with a hint of light copper- in summer my skin and hair are almost the same color 🙃 in winter I'm very pale with a yellow-green-grey cast. Regardless I'm very muted.

I've been typed as soft autumn but find those colors too warm. I've been typed as soft summer but those are too cool.

So- for those of you that also tan golden and are muted overall, what do you find are your best colors to wear?

Palette for a fair olive

This is my palette as a fair olive, I would say if you are blonde to subtract the black and it becomes more like a summer palette. But really this palette was made custom for me and it doesn’t fit anywhere with seasonal analysis, I just decided to call it soft winter!

Deep Winter Palette (Red, Pink and Yellow Colors)

I discovered that I am pale olive. I have olive undertones but still quite fair skinned and also leaning to be dark or deep winter since I have neutral cool undertones. I know that saturated strong bold shades suit us mostly and lighter shades wash us out.

About the colors red, pink and yellow, I'm questioning what kind of shades it's more optimal. I love red but I know that Pink and yellow its difficult? I love baby pastel pink but I heard that it's not flattering on us like hot pink for example and about the yellow? And Icy acid lemon yellow would work? I am curious

Extremely pale olive foundation/BB cream recommendations?

Hey guys, desperately asking for some help in the hopes that someone has a holy grail niche product as I've been struggling to find a truly pale olive foundation/BB cream that is a true neutral (little to no yellow or pink, think literally grey cast) for about a decade or so now and I'm tired of wasting money in the hope that I can find an ol' reliable. In specific, foundations that veer on makeup for a corpse.

I'm in the awkward very pale but translucent category (dysautonomia lol) where even olive targeted foundations are pink/yellow pigmented, too warm, too dark, etc. KVD L41 would have been my permanent best friend back in the day if it weren't for the fact that the formula was cake central, and the creator trash. Really tired of DIY mixing foundations with green or white pigments, just straight out of a bottle no thoughts would be magical at this stage.

Brands that have been no good: Nars, About Face, Estée Lauder, Mac, Missha, Tirtir, Dior, Charlotte Tilbury, Too Faced, RCMA, Clio, Espoir, Étude, Haus Labs, etc

I've been considering People of the Earth as one option, but as it's an international store I know nothing about the quality of the foundation (if anyone knows +1) or how well it'll take to combination/oily/dry/sensitive skin etc, so any suggestions on products that might work would be absolutely amazing! Thank you so much.

Edit to add: here is my forearm for example purposes

Has anyone tried this product?

I'm considering purchasing these foundation adjustment drops for silicone based foundation (not airbrush).

My skin changes month by month and I am tired of buying foundations only to have them not match 28 later.

I think I would rather paint an accurate foundation daily than buy 10 shades from Sephora only to have them expire before I finish them.

Any thoughts?

Lisa Eldridge foundation woes

I've been really looking forward to checking out the Lisa Eldridge foundation because I'd heard such good reviews for matches with olive skin. Finally got a Space NK open near me so I popped in to get samples, asked for either a 5 or a 9 in the foundation but was matched with the 10. Well, it goes on lovely and looks like a great match on first application but it oxidises too orange and settles on my skin really patchy despite applying good skin prep and setting spray. I've worn the sample today and after three hours it's so patchy I just want to take it all off.

I'm so disappointed, I really wanted this foundation to work and I don't know what to try next. I've been using Estee Lauder 2N1 for 10 years now but it's slightly too pale in the summer and I have to add blue mixer to it anyway. 2N2 is too orange. I just can't seem to find a decent alternative! I've tried Armani 4, 5 and 5.15 and Charlotte Tilbury in 3 Cool - loved the formula but not the colours for Armani silk, and the Charlotte Tilbury is horribly thick. I'm also struggling getting matched in store - every foundation I try is either too peachy or too orange, and in store staff don't seem to believe I'm olive because I'm light skinned and look quite neutral. I can't really afford to buy blind either, tried that a few times and ended up having to sell my failures on Ebay.

Anyone got any other recommendations?

MUFE Extreme Waterproof Lip Liner Swatches on Light Neutral-Cool Muted Olive Skin (that hasn’t seen the sun in years)

I swatched these before buying the Sassy Rhubarb bc it didn’t read orange/brown (and before seeing how horribly Sephora lighting distorts color perception, and before any understanding of how muted / desaturated I am!) and then laughed at how awful it looked when I put it on in the car (you can see how bad in the last pic here: https://www.reddit.com/r/OliveMUA/comments/1u4h1wp/how_to_conteract_corpse_lips_on_a_muted_light/ )

Just thought these might be helpful for someone…

swatches are top to bottom in order of the display rack in the last pic.

Dramatic Plum

Limitless Brown

Anywhere Caffeine

Wherever Walnut

Sassy Rhubarb

Forever Passion

Lovely Peony

Legendary Latte

fyi, I swatched almost all of the Charlotte Tilbury liners here: https://www.reddit.com/r/OliveMUA/comments/1uda5n2/charlotte_tillbury_lip_cheat_liners_on_light/ and Urban Decay liners I’ve yet to post - and ironically, the Make Up For Ever extreme liners were the LEAST waterproof of all three when I got in a warm shower and went to rub them off! They came off quite easily which means they wouldn’t last as long eating/drinking as the others, but I fell for their “extreme waterproof” marketing.

Can someone explain?

I’m a very pale olive, most make up, blushes, bronzers etc. turn orange. Peach or orange lip tints, stains and glosses however turn pink. What is that about? Has anyone else had this experience?
