Do you guys have the issue of starting several stories at once?

So, I recently got into a fandom which reignited my interest in writing fanfic. After 2 and a half years of not opening my AO3 account (unless it was for reading), I finally started posting again.

Only issue is, I can’t stick to one story.

I started writing a long fic bc I could, then at some point while writing chapter 5, I started writing a one-shot for the same fandom but of a different ship.

I then started writing another multi-chaptered work, also within this fandom (this one’s not posted yet), now that chapter 5 of my original work is posted, and I started writing chapter 6, as well as reworking chapter 1 of the other fic, I have gotten yet another new idea and started *another* multi chapters work.

And I have like, 3 more ideas lmao.

So now I’m writing 3 stories at roughly the same time… after not writing for over 2 years….

Has anyone else had that problem?

To anybody who is new here, please remember Rule 1

It has been rare, but there are occasions in which someone will post something that isn't related to the subreddit's topic. This subreddit's first rule is "Post relevant content. No spam. Posts should relate to fanfiction." We're a community of fanfiction authors. We have sometimes removed posts because they have nothing to do with fanfiction and are original stories. It is literally in the name of the subreddit. A lot of you will think "Well, duh. Why is he making this post. Everyone should know this." However, this is not the case.

We have recently removed a post 3 days ago about an original story and redirected a user to the appropriate subreddits. We have removed posts in which someone would post an AI image of themself in a fictional story and write a whole story in it about themself as a self-insert. (While you would think this is fanfiction, that user didn't have an account on any website and would just post stories about himself in different fictional worlds). This is a subreddit about fanfiction authors. However, I suppose one who doesn't write fanfiction and only reads could shout out some stories that they have read and post about it in this subreddit. After all, we have some people who only post memes in here. (However, I would like to have a higher ratio of interaction with story based posts over memes as memes here get more upvotes than other stories, which saddens me [especially when some stories get unfairly downvoted {possibly by a troll}]). We have never banned anyone in this subreddit and hope not to. All we've done is remove posts and comments that aren't relevant and removed comments that were rude. We rarely get reports, which is good.

We get new members every day. Maybe there is someone who doesn't understand (even though it should probably be obvious) but this is a fanfiction subreddit. This is not an AI image of yourself subreddit. This is not a subreddit about writing a book that you want to be published. There are subreddits for authors of actual books or first time authors.

That is all. We do appreciate you being here. There are always things we can improve on and this subreddit isn't perfect (especially when we have downvoting trolls here).

In other news, on desktop, I changed the color of the buttons and links to AO3 maroon red. On mobile, if you go to a post, to comment, the top part will now look red.

Writers block :/

Hello I’m new to Reddit hope yall are doing so very well! I used to roleplay anime characters for about 8ish years or so and took a break for a few years so now I’m writing fanfics on AO3. Never thought I’d be a fanfic writer and although I miss roleplaying sometimes, it’s really fun and helps me relax. I’m just sooo rusty even having kept up with stories on and off, those stories being smutty bls & gls on various apps. Anyways.. Yall have any tips on writers block and like I dunno inspiration? Most of my stories are written in like 20 minutes but I wanna be inspired and do something interesting I guess? Even if it is just a hobby

It's why I often shy away from writing NB smut.(I don't say any of this to be bigoted, I promise you all)

I mainly dealt with this when writing smut about my OT3 of Pokemon Go leaders(Blanche, Candela, and Spark), with two versions and a third in the lab.

Posting anonymously on AO3

I wrote a oneshot and decided to post it anonymously on AO3 (My kid is on AO3, this fic was rated explicit, I don't need them to see me writing that) and now I can't find it on my dashboard?

From what I could find online, when you post anonymously, you can still find it under collections, but it's not there? And then I tried searching for the fic by title, and it seems to have been posted twice? I have no idea what the hell happened...

Anyone on here who has posted anonymously before, who could tell me how to find my fic? And how to delete the double post if I can't find it?

Am I Being Too Ambitious?

Hello all! I've been into fanficition writing for a couple of months now and have really enjoyed it! I have met some people online who read my works and loved them! I also engage with almost every comment on any of my fics, overall I just love engaging with and talking with people who genuinely like my stuff. I am also working on original works and eventually want to build up a community and Fandom for that as well. I love being creative and writing but I have also enjoyed just talking about my works and engaging like that. So I decided to make a Discord server so I could do that... but is that too ambitious? I plan on eventually adding my original works to the server in time, but overall I want to build a community of people who enjoy my works, be it fanfic or otherwise. But is this too grandesoise of an idea? Let me know what y'all think.

looking for dragon/human romance/smut fics (with NO SHIFTING-)

continually thirsting for dragon fics, and finding this stuff is damn near impossible sometimes, so i'm throwing this ask to the reddit gods.
fandom doesn't matter, as long as:
-one half of the pairing is a dragon, other is a human/humanoid/human-adjacent
-the dragon does not have any alternate forms, stays a dragon the whole time
-dragon with FOUR legs, wings, not anthro in the least

Slowburn would be greatly appreciated but aren't required, really i just need something that's outside the typical mean dommy male monster dynamic. with dragons.

The $3,900 Lesson: Lemons, Lamb Leather, and the Wolf of East Hampton

I been writing all my memorable 12 years stepping in a world that I didn't belong. It brought on BPD & many other things. I promised myself I'd put it in a nonfiction book. I just recently paid a editor to help me put it all together. I paid $999.00 to get it published and all that comes with the process of getting it in the store. I promised the only who believed in me, that passed

away a year ago. Then I got to work finishing

The $3,900 Lesson: Lemons, Lamb Leather, and the Wolf of East Hampton

My friends are always begging for my old clothes. I've gained about 30 pounds since my younger days, so the vintage fits don't quite work for me anymore. (Don't judge—it happens to the best of us.) My closet is slowly getting depleted, but honestly, I don't care. These days, I'm happy shopping at Target.

If you told me 10 years ago I'd be a Target guy, I would have lost it. Back then, I was a vain idiot who never saw a mirror I didn't like. I was making a lot of money and was totally unprepared for it. When you're young and the money is raining down, you think the storm is never going to end, so you spend like it's going out of style.

Case in point: The dumbest thing I ever bought.

I'm not talking about bad investments; I'm talking about a $3,900 jacket (plus tax). It was a Ralph Lauren Purple Label piece from a boutique in East Hampton—the kind of place where everything is lamb leather and cashmere. At the time, I thought I belonged there because I had my bonus cash sitting in a shoebox in the trunk of my Audi.

I was there with my girlfriend at the time—a girl who looked like a model but was really just a three-year disaster waiting to happen. We were both on Lemon 714s (Quaaludes). They've been illegal for decades, but when your circle works for the "Wolf of Wall Street" types, you find things.

The night started with us getting kicked out of The Palm after I spilled my fourth Shirley Temple. (I don't drink and drive, so I was sticking to the mocktails!) The real reason they tossed us, though, was because I tipped the waiter $150 and told him we were going to smoke Dutch Masters in the room after every course. Between the Quaaludes and the Valium, things were getting hazy.

After losing our hotel room, we wandered into that Polo boutique. I saw the jacket. I asked for the price, and some snotty, toned guy gave me a look like I was lost. "That right there is a one-of-a-kind jacket," he said, "and it's exceptionally expensive." He looked at his buddy and smirked.

I walked out, went to my trunk, grabbed the shoebox, and marched back in. Money was literally falling out of the box while my girl scrambled to pick it up. I walked up to that same guy and asked, "Now, how much is the jacket?"

The rest is a blur. My girlfriend filled me in the next morning. Apparently, once the staff saw the cash, they "sold me on the entire store." I walked out with my cash held together by a broccoli rubber band because the shoebox was gone. My closet was full, my ego was massive, and I felt like a king in that lamb leather.

She was gone less than a year later—leaving with a Guess suitcase full of gold necklaces, diamond earrings, and my Tag watches.

It was one of the craziest nights of my life. It ended at CPI's in the Hamptons. I was drooping, so I took about 10 hits of Ecstasy and some Ketamine over the next eight hours. I'd been awake since Thursday at The Tunnel in NYC. There is no worse feeling than walking out of a pitch-black club at 10:00 AM into the beaming morning sun.

The moral of this drug-fueled tutorial: You can do drugs, but never drink and drive. And for the love of god, stay away from the Lemons unless you are locked in your room. Otherwise, you might spend seven racks thinking you're cool, when you're really just a pretentious kid with a shoebox full of "fuck you" money.

At least I still have the jacket. And no, my friend is never getting it.

This isn't really me talking about a new rule, but to remind everyone that we're all human.

I would like to believe that this subreddit is full of people who like to uplift one another in our writing journeys, but seeing downvoted posts really makes me feel sad. People here worked hard on their stories. People here were brave enough to share their passion projects. People want a place to talk about their interpretations of what they'd like to see from a show or movie or book.

Whether you don't like the creator of the main work, or you secretly don't like the fanfiction author, or you don't like the series the work is from, or you don't like the work the fanfic author produced, that doesn't mean anyone deserves downvotes. We're supposed to unite. I know it would hurt a little (not a lot, though) to see something I worked hard on in a subreddit like this get downvoted for reasons unknown. This isn't a like or dislike thing. You might not like some shows, movies, or books, that doesn't mean you have to downvote. I don't know about you and maybe it's my empathy, but I can't imagine putting my passion out there just for it to be seen as disliked. Similar to the unwritten don't like, don't read rule, let's not downvote when people are trying to get the courage to show what they like.

I’m writing an au and need some help

what greek / roman god would every hazbin hotel character be a child of

I’m saying

alastor - Hecate because of voodoo and Apollo because of musical talent and charm ( could also be aphrodite with charm speak or nemisis or hades because of grudge holding and another child of hades/ Pluto hazel Lévesque originally lived in New Orleans like him )

rosie - hecate or hades also potentially also Aphrodite

charlie - Hermes’ athena or legacy of Aphrodite

vaggi - Athena ares or Hermes

lute - ares ( either child or legacy )

lu - Hermes’ or legacy of aphrodite

niffty - ares or hestia ( she was born out of a fireplace)

husk - dionysus , or Hermes maybe also Ganymede or iris ( I love the thought of Ganymede being his dad or if he‘s a legacy in the au distant relative )

angel- Aphrodite I think maybe also Nyx or nemesis or something (maybe dionysus because of the cisgender thing )

vox - Zeus because of wanting to become a god and his lightning bolt eye ( maybe legacy of Zeus and son of keto/ceto who’s the godess of sharks) definitely not Poseidon lol 🤣

valentino - child of hecate , nyx or aphrodite because of his heart glasses and control over smoke

velvette - Aphrodite obviously but also maybe Hecate or nemesis or Nyx maybe also hades

sr pentious - Hephaestus or Athena

Cherri bomb - ares? I don’t know…

let me know what you think!
