I built a FPL optimizer and would love some feedback from the community before the season starts

Been building this for a few months and figured the pre-season

window is a good time to share it, even though it still uses last seasons player prices.

The basic idea: the model calculates expected points (xP) for

every player based on live betting odds (win probability, clean

sheet odds, expected goals) combined with xG/xA data and last

season's stats. It then finds the best possible 15-man squad

that maximises total xP within your budget.

Backtested on every gameweek of 2025/26 - beat the FPL average

in 35 out of 38 weeks, +18.9 pts/GW advantage on average.

Also ran it on 2024/25 to make sure it wasn't just lucky:

38/38 weeks, +23.0 pts/GW. Pretty happy with that.

**How to use it:**

- Set your budget

- Pick a formation

- Click shirt slots to lock in players you want

- Hit Optimize and it fills the rest with the highest xP

players available

Right now it optimizes for one gameweek at a time -

multi-gameweek planning is on the roadmap.

WILD 💣💣Nottingham Forest sacked Vítor Pereira by email at 11:58 PM on June 30… and are replacing him with Oliver Glasner.

Just saw this report and I’m genuinely shocked.

Marinakis is an absolute madman. 🍿😹

According to multiple reports, Nottingham Forest activated a clause to terminate Vítor Pereira’s contract and informed him by email at 11:58 PM on June 30, just two minutes before the clause expired. (The Times)
What’s even crazier is that, as recently as yesterday, the club was still planning pre-season with him. Pereira had already organized the Portugal training camp, Forest had agreed on a pre-season tournament against Udinese and Barcelona in Udine, and he’d recently been in London discussing the club’s summer plans. (The Times)
To top it all off, Oliver Glasner is set to replace him (or has agreed to, depending on the report you’re reading). (The Guardian)
If all of this is accurate, it’s one of the most ruthless managerial sackings I’ve seen in a while.
Also, I’m surprised I haven’t seen this discussed on this subreddit. Maybe I just missed the thread?

Filling the FPL off-season with daily footy games (while we ride out the World Cup)

Hi all 👋

Full disclosure: I built this, so mods please bin it if it's not allowed. Season's done, no FPL until August, and the World Cup's the only thing keeping us going. So I've been building FootyIQ (footyiq.games), a little site packed with daily football games to scratch the footy itch through the off-season.

The main one is Forgotten Footballer, where each day there's a mystery player and you guess who it is from hints (clubs, nationality, era and that) plus a blurred photo.

There's a few other daily games on there too, including a World Cup one to go with the tournament. Takes a couple of minutes. Would genuinely love feedback since you know your players better than most!
