Starting college soon and I have literally nothing to wear, help me build a wardrobe on a budget?

Okay so this year I'm finally starting college and I'm realizing I have a mild fashion crisis on my hands. For the past few years I was in full study mode- barely went out, no makeovers, no cute outings, nothing. My entire closet is just jeans and oversized tees. That's it. That's the wardrobe.

Now attendance at my college is 75%, so I'm going to be there almost every day, and I really don't want to be the person recycling the same 3 outfits every week. But I also don't have unlimited money to throw at this, so I need to build something decent without going broke.

What are the actual essentials I should invest in? Like a solid capsule wardrobe that mixes and matches well, looks put-together, but doesn't require me to own 40 different outfits? Also open to tips on where to shop affordably, what fabrics/fits actually hold up, and any beginner mistakes I should avoid.

Basically- help a jeans-and-oversized-tee girl glow up before day one 😭
