Considering a Pontiac Solstice GXP, how much room is there to negotiate?

I’m looking at a Pontiac Solstice and trying to figure out if it’s a reasonable buy, especially since I’ll only be keeping the car for a relatively short time.
For anyone who owns/has owned one:

How much should I realistically expect to negotiate the asking price down?

What are the most common issues I should look out for when inspecting one?

Are there any expensive/problematic repairs that tend to come up?

If something does go wrong, are we generally talking hundreds of dollars or thousands to fix?

Anything specific I should check before buying one?

I’m trying to figure out how much of a repair/maintenance buffer I should have beyond the purchase price. Any advice from Solstice owners would be appreciated!

Jakie auto nowsze ale jednocześnie z pazurem do 50k?

Hejka,

Mamy z narzeczoną dylemat bo w końcu uzbieraliśmy na upgrade naszego wysłużonego auta. Mieszkamy w Polsce.

First car recommendations under £5k?

Hi all,

I just passed my test and I’m looking at getting my first car. Ideally, I’m looking for something under £5k that’s cheap on fuel, will last me a while, has cheap road tax and reasonable insurance.

I appreciate that as a first-time driver the insurance is going to be fairly high, but if anyone could suggest some good options then I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you!

First car at 18

Opel astra H 1.6 16v that i got for just 2000€ with 101k km. Bought one because my dad had a estate version and I'm glad I did. Very reliable except for the AC compressor.

First car at 20 (an oldtimer, one of 72!)

I have been thinking about buying an oldtimer ever since I got my drivers license. Because it is so much cheaper (no roadtax and much cheaper insurance) and more unique and fun. Now I finally got one! A 1986 Nissan Micra k10!

Is it the cheapest car? No

Is it the most reliable car? No

Is it the most efficient car? No

Is it the most practical car? No

Is it the most comfortable car? No

Is it the safest car? No no no

Is it a fast car? No

Is it a very fun car? Yes!

And even all those things I mentioned it isn't actually that bad at. It wasn't that expensive. It is a Nissan, so decently reliable. It is actually pretty efficient (1L on 20km). It is surprisingly spacious on the inside. The seats are actually really nice and eventhough it only has 4 gears, it isn't even that loud on the highway. It isn't fast, but 50hp on 670kg is not very slow either.

It is pretty unsafe... the only safety feature is seatbelts...

It is also extremely well maintained. It has been stored indoors for most it's life. It had a rust prevention treatment from new. And as I said, it has been looked after really well. The previous owner planned on driving this car for the rest of his life, but do to situations, he realistically wouldn't drive it for the next 5-10 years. So he sold it.

The previous owner bought a donor car in the past and I could take all the parts from it with the purchase. We sadly couldn't take everything since we don't have any place to store it all. But still we filled up 2 cars with parts. I got another full engine, 5 wheels, doors, bumpers, windows, drivetrain parts, electronic parts, interior parts... I now have basically 1,5 Micra's.

Funny enough, we could fit more in the Micra, then in the 2020 Hyundai Kona.

Also, fun fact, here in the netherlands are only 72 Micra K10s still registered. So it is pretty rare.

is a mustang ecoboost as a first car fine?

i like mustangs and i could definitely go for a gt or a 5.0, but would it be safer to go for an ecoboost? i don’t know much about the difference yet but im going to look into it. i just know that apparently they’re better on gas and have less power which i feel like is good because i see people saying don’t start out in a car with more power. i just want to know if it’d be a good first car i could balance gas power and still get the cool look.

Looking into buying first car

Hello all. I’m looking to buy my first car and I want to be “loyal” to how I was raised and buy a Ford Escape(preferred year 2015-2021), but at the same time, in doing a little bit of research, I kind of want to buy a Chevy Trax(2021 being the newest I’d get). I’m not actively looking but anything at the moment, I need to save up some more money first, but anything advice would be appreciated. Budget would be no more than $15k and under 100k miles. TIA

Fruit of hardwork 🇦🇪

So happy that my first car is my favorite color 💚 i’m no longer my parents’ passenger princess as I will drive for them when I come home. This, indeed, will be my remembrance from working in 🇦🇪
