The cost of selling on eBay (fees + sales tax): higher than on poshmark ?

I hadn't sold online in a while. I was always under the impression eBay was cheaper than Poshmark for clothing.

I just sold a shirt on eBay for 39$. Turns out eBay took a total of 10,12$ in fees. 8,80$ on the price of the item+shipping+sales taxes + 1,32$ of sales taxes I pay on the 8,80$ ...

I'm in Quebec so sales taxes are right around 15%. So as I'm reading it, I'm paying a bit more than 20% just to eBay on the price of my item, but over 25% if you include the taxes I'm paying for their service fee.

Am I understanding this correctly ? Poshmark has a flat 20%, but I don't remember paying sales taxes on their fees ...

Head’s Up: Canada Post suspending deliveries to 12 EU countries as of June 30, 2026

In response to the removal of de minimis in the EU as of July 1, Canada Post has suspended service to 12 countries until they can figure out how to navigate the changes.

Countries include:
Austria
Belgium
Czech Republic
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Luxembourg
Portugal
Spain

If you rely on Canada Post for your international shipments, best to exclude these countries from your listings ASAP. I believe eBay is turning off the ability to print Canada Post shipping labels for ALL 27 EU countries as well, but you can still purchase labels for the other 15 EU countries directly from Canada Post (albeit at a more expensive rate; beware if using calculated shipping with eBay’s discounted rates).

Source: I work at a post office. This notice was sent to post offices this afternoon. “Delivery Service Alerts” page of the Canada Post website will be updated tomorrow (June 30).

stallion express fda flag

i’m getting all of my products sorted with DDP and cusma in Stallion, and all items that have this hs code (6117.80.95.40) have a PGA FD1 flag.. i asked support and they said my products need to be FDA approved, which doesn’t make sense to me since they’re keychains.

I’m just confused since on FDA’s site an FD1 flag means they may or may not be regulated by the FDA, and if not, a broker can disclaim the product since it’s purely for decorative purposes and for non-regulated/general use. None of the materials on the keychains are organic, are deemed a cosmetic or for any medical/industrial use.

I’m assuming this hs code has this general flag, and when the product is handed off, someone will determine if it needs to be disclaimed or not, right? I shouldn’t need to get FDA approval beforehand on an item that shouldn’t need to be FDA regulated.. am I understanding this correctly or doing something wrong? This is the hs code support told me to use, it was approved for DDP shipping and cusma, but they also mentioned since it’s flagged it needs approval before entering the US.

Can someone PLEASE help me understand this? 🥹

Stallion Express duty

Hi everyone,

I've been shipping with SE for a long time. After the Trump tariffs, everything changed, and I stopped shipping with them for a few months. I recently started using them again after they partnered with a new customs broker to continue shipping through USPS.

This week, I noticed a $600 duty charge on my account for several shipments. Most of my products are made in Canada and qualify under CUSMA, and I've already uploaded the Certificate of Origin to my account. For any products that are not made in Canada, I pay the applicable duties before shipping, so I shouldn't be getting charged unexpectedly.

I contacted SE about this, and they're currently investigating the issue. Unfortunately, their customer service has been difficult to communicate with, so I'm not sure how long it will take to get a clear answer.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue or received unexpected duty charges recently?
