Before and After

Finally got the time and money to fix up my poor focus, installed the Damond PCV plate and twin catch cans + a proper intake in preparation for my new big turbo.

Smoke out of my drain pan?

I was doing my oil change and smoke was coming out of my drain pan. My car was cold, all I did was drive it up the ramps. I could even hold my hand on the pan. Does anyone know why or what that could mean?

Engine is ticking on a 2017 Focus ST

It doesn’t sound like anything to worry about to me, but I’m not entirely sure what I’m listening to.

It’s a 2017 ST1 with 63,333 on the dash and nearly unmodded if you count a green filter and a valve thingy (I forgor). I’m looking at buying it and am just doing my due diligence making sure everything’s in working order. I’ve posted a few times about it as I’m sure some have seen lol. I know some engines have a tick from the factory and I didn’t know if the focus was the same deal. Thanks!

High-ish Mileage Maintenance

Hey y’all! My 2016 ST2 is going to reach the 150,000 mile mark in the next week or so. For those who have 150k+ miles, is there anything I’ll need to keep an eye on or any preventative maintenance I’ll need to consider in the near future?

Things to know: So far pretty much everything is still OEM/factory parts. Daily driven, with occasional times where I’ve had a little fun well within my means. No major maintenance needed for the ~85,000 miles I’ve put on the car, though the heater core hoses decided they didn’t wanna exist anymore a few years ago, which was promptly fixed.

Only active DTCs I have are P0340 for Camshaft Position Sensor (Bank A) Malfunction, and P0344 (same as previous, just specifying as “Intermittent”). I do intend to address that soon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Bnr losing power?

I’ve had my bnr for a few months now and while I was tuning I was getting as high as 24psi and holding 22-23 consistently but recently I’ve been struggling to even hold 21 (normally 20.5 ish for most of the pull). My first thought was because it’s getting hotter outside but I don’t know if that’s enough to lose that much boost. Have yall been experiencing the same with the raising heat or should I start looking for boost leaks?

I think it's time to move on

Spent my 4th of July stranded on the side of the highway. I'm tired of putting thousands of dollars into repairs every month just to keep this car on the road.

Once I get it running again, it'll be going up for sale, and I'll be looking for something reliable to daily drive.

Despite everything, it's been a fun car when it was actually running for the 8 months it wasn't at a shop, and the community around these cars has been awesome. I appreciate everyone who's offered advice and helped me out over the last 12 months of ownership.

It's time to move on.

Seeing STs

I recently moved back home and have temporarily retired my ST while I pay off my debt and save to rebuild the suspension and I’ve seen more STs around since I haven’t been driving mine than I ever did when I was driving mine daily which to me is kind of sad

Cobb OTS tunes

How long can I safely run a cobb OTS tune? I want to get my catless downpipe + catback + Charge pipe BOV installed before I get my big turbo on just to ease the install. Edge said that I would need to purchase a whole new custom tune after I got the big turbo on, so I would rather save 250$ and run an OTS tune for a few weeks maybe a month but don’t want to explode my engine haha. Any ideas?

I think I found the one, now what?

I've been posting here and there about my car search for the past week, and I think I've finally found her. She is a 2017 ST with the 2.0L engine with a bit over 60k on the dash. I saw the listing maybe not even an hour after it was posted. There were no photos yet just the description, but I knew I had to go see it for myself. Me and a buddy who knows stick (I'm being taught currently) and is a mechanic went up and took it for a test drive and it was lovely, although it still smelt like and was covered in the last guy's dog since they hadn't even gotten to clean it yet. It's got it's flaws of course; needs a mentos cap on the washer fluid, headlights have an issue with the clearcoat and the left might have a bad seal and is letting in moisture (let me know if I'm correct please) but I'm totally fine buying a new set if I need to, interior is showing it's age especially on the center console upholstery and the shift knob is cracking but I want the carbon fiber knob anyways. It's first owner who bought it brand new took fine care of it, nothing crazy judging by the carfax, but the second owner took great care of her from the looks of thinks with oil changes every ~5000 miles and the only fix being a replacement purge valve (maybe related to a recall I heard about? IDK). Unfortunately most of the driving was the first owner, though. It's got scrapes but the paint is in fine condition for an almost 10 year old car. They are asking ~$17k which I think is a few k more than it's worth but I'm blessed enough to be able to afford it even at that price, but I'll try to work my way down closer to 15. Any thoughts? I'm going back with my dad Monday to hopefully drive it myself, what should I look for that I might have missed on my first passover? If I do get it, what should I do first? it's seemingly entirely stock since the dealership doesn't buy modded cars (although I theorize something about the turbo isn't stock just based off the "turbosmart" sticker on the left side blindspot window, how do I know for sure? The waste gate seems super duper loud both me and my buddy noticed so it's likely this part). I'm making a list of first steps after driving it off the lot so please let me know thanks!!

Fuel tank deformation

Hey guys👋 so I had got this recall notification on my progressive app. I haven’t had any problems with starting the car after fueling it but I’m super sure if the gas reading on the odometer is accurate . I don’t drive it to often so I couldn’t completely tell . I bought this car from a used dealership , it had one owner (98,000 miles ) and all service maintenance records . It seems to be fine . Should I take it in to a ford dealership just for them to check ? I know you can replace the purge valve as well . Just wanna ask from experience owners . Any help is greatly appreciated

Sync 3 upgrade 🤌🏻

If you’re on the fence about a sync 3 upgrade, just do it. Coming from newer vehicles back to something slightly older all I really missed was CarPlay. Simply Michigan Infotainment is absolutely the place to go for these kits. Everything was plug and play and pre programmed for my 2014 ST. Zero headache and really only took about 30 minutes to install. Wireless upgrade was absolutely worth the money also.

Does this sound like a purge valve issue?

2017 ST1 with 108k miles. I bought the car at 104k stock and it's currently still stock other than a FMIC, and had no issues with it until yesterday. I was cruising in 3rd gear and all of the sudden it felt like the car hit the brakes, and I lost all response in my throttle. I was able to shut the car down and start it back up and park it in a nearby neighborhood to have it towed. When attempting to start it, sometimes it will start up normally, other times it struggles to start for a couple seconds before finally achieving an idle. Either way, once the car is started up it will only idle for about a minute or so before the revs slowly start dropping and shuts down the engine. Kind of seems like it's being starved of fuel. At the time this issue began my car was reading about 95mi to empty.

Battery issues?

Just got a new battery about a month ago, had no issues with it until today after I took the car to the car wash, parked the car vacuumed it and it turned on good, when to the store. ext to the car wash and when I came back and tried to start the car it was completely dead and had to jump start it,later on in the day it kept doing the same thing, I have been having to jump start it every time I turn it off,I can’t even lock the doors because everything is dead, and now the interior lights, radio and console lighting is all dimmed.

Is my turbo cooked?

Hi, i've been experiencing this faint whining noise between 2-3k rpms, it's audible in gear (1st, 2nd and 3rd most noticeably) but also in neutral with and without engaging the clutch... hoping someone has had a similar noise and could help a brother out! Thanks!
