In-car freezer

Hi, for context, I have the most basic model of the Ford Explorer EV (which is also the standard range). I’m about to do a long distance journey which will include a night in a hotel half way and will need to keep dog food frozen, so I’ve bought an in-car fridge freezer as it’ll be useful to us regularly.
My question is, what happens whilst the vehicle is parked overnight at the hotel? Forgive my naivety but will it drain the battery? I’ve scoured the fridge freezer’s manual but the only thing it says about it, is that it has low, medium & high levels of battery protection…? But no explanation as to how that works?
Google gave me two conflicting answers….

Am I missing something obvious here? Wouldn’t be the first time, to be fair.

Thanks!

Any news on the Explorer’s new Android system?

Hey,

I’ve seen that Android Auto is evolving quite a bit in 2026, with Gemini, a redesigned interface, and more vehicle integration. I also saw that the 2026 Skoda Elroq is getting a new Android-automotive based infotainment .

Does anyone know whether the Ford Explorer will just get an update to its current system, or something more like what Skoda is doing with the Elroq?

Any reliable info from dealers, updates, documents, or user experience would be appreciated.

What battery do I have?

I’m trying to find out whether my Ford Explorer EV RWD has the 77 kWh or 79 kWh battery.

Does anyone know where this can be found or read from the car itself? For example via FORScan, OBD, FDRS, BECM/HVB module, battery part number, rated capacity in Ah, or DC charge power limit?

The manual only shows the possible battery variants, but not which one is actually fitted to my car.

Key Fob

Had my Explorer EV just under a year and already the battery in both key fobs are almost dead.

As a lease car the lease company say they will replace but it just seems very odd to be low already.

When I take it into Ford to get the battery replaced I will mention to them that the key fob always flashes red, does anyone know if this is a common issue or do I have a problem.
